  1. He started the second to last regular season home game with the Brewer's playoff future still uncertain. That particular outing was bad for him and he walked off to a mixture of boos and cheers. Despite his performance that day I figured he would have received at least a Jenkins like sendoff for his 8 year career with the Crew. And as far as the quoting goes, Rydogg, I figured I didn't need to use a quote box for the last sentence of the previous post. A great sentence, btw, Gobias.
  2. An article about Sheets by Ted Keith is on the front page of the MLB section of SI.com: Sign of the Times: Oft-injured Sheets still available. There isn't any new information, but a there are a few more quotes from Melvin confirming the lack of discussion between Sheets and the Brewers. The weird thing with Brewer fans, and Wisconsin fans in general, is that they get so offended by how much a struggling or injured player is making. I still think it was a shame that Sheets didn't get a full standing ovation as he walked off the field after what was potentially his last start as a Brewer at Miller Park this past year. It's amazing that people turn so quickly on a player just because he gets injured. Lest we forget that he started the All-Star game this past year.
  3. Interesting. I was born in November and fall is my favorite season. I always just assumed that fall was everybody's favorite season.
  4. This is sad news indeed, but I wish Jim the very best. I don't even know what to type I am just shocked. I think Bob Uecker sums up my feelings best in......... ........."Allllright Jim, thank you very much!"
  5. I'll brag about my grandparents a little bit. They will be celebrating their 60th wedding aniversary next month and are well into their 80s, but they have always been on top of the newest technologies without any young whippersnappers telling them how to do things. They own a 42" plasma TV, which is hooked up to HD programming. They have GPS in their vehicle which they program without problems. They each have working cell phones. They get a new laptop every 3-4 years and do extensive work on it including keeping in touch with the family by e-mailing digital photos. I've always been impressed with how these grandparents keep up with technology. It's a stark contrast with my two grandparents on the other side of my family. They live in Germany. No one on their block has internet and their telephone has to be 25 years old at least. I tried to bring up the topic of internet to this grandma and she just looked at me like I was crazy. It's a tough topic to discuss with a woman who bikes to the bakery every morning for fresh milk and bread.
  6. They may want to have his replacement in place before they make the announcement. This is disappointing.
  7. Right, it's not really fair to keep Clemens and Bonds out of the Hall just because they got caught, while others who flew under the radar might get selected.
  8. If there is a 100% chance that everyone on earth will die and there is nothing that anyone can do to prevent it or avoid it, then no the government should not say anything about it. If you tell humanity that it only has 3 months until it is destroyed, total chaos will ensue. Everyone will quit their job and the structure of civilization will collapse. If there is any chance that the disaster can be prevented or avoided, you have to tell the people. I live very near to Yellowstone and if the explosion of the caldera was somehow predicted, I would want to know.
  9. I just saw this on MSN.com this morning. Best Part-Time Jobs for 2009.
  10. I went on a mission to collect anything related to Lincoln related.....Lincoln's Diary, the Lincoln coin collection, John Wilkes Booth wanted poster, etc.
  11. 2 Thumbs Up 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days Be Kind Rewind Bigger Stronger Faster Pineapple Express Slumdog Millionaire Wall-E 1 Thumb Up Burn After Reading Dark Knight Harold and Kumar 2 Ironman Man on Wire 2 Thumbs Down 10,000 BC Cloverfield Indiana Jones 4 Kung Fu Panda Quantum of Solace Step Brothers Tropic Thunder I still want to see a bunch of movies including Charlie Kaufman's new movie and Zack and Miri.
  12. I had that done to me. The suspense was way worse than the actual pulling of the teeth. That's why my preferred method was Great Grandma Lizzie. She was the sweetest old lady and she would want to "take a look" at her grand-children's loose teeth. Before you knew it you were short another tooth.
  13. I'll support Trailer Park Boys too. I can still pop that show in the DVD player at anytime and get a good laugh. Have any of you TPB fans seen Mike Clattenburgs short film, "Cart Boy". It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
  14. A 6 game suspension for a verbal attack in a league where referees allow players to punch each other in the face during the game? I don't understand hockey.
  15. I didn't this episode was that great, but Creed's line had me laughing the loudest.
  16. When I'm 306 years old, I'm going to be laughing in CC's face. Nice photoshop job on CC's jersey.
  17. Buster Onley on ESPN could not confirm that this deal is done. On top of that he suggests that the Brewers might have signed Cameron in the first place to help keep Sabbathia, since he and Cameron are good friends. With Sabbathia gone, Onley suggests that the Brewers can now move Cameron.
  18. I'm happy for CC and the Yankees. I'm happy for the Brewers, that they didn't go overboard with their offer and I'm happy for the compensation pick and the ability to move on from CC.
  19. The Maryvale tickets are always available at the gate, but if you buy early you can get front row tickets which is well worth it IMO.
  20. I wonder if this has anything to do with Sirius buying out XM? I've been a subscriber to XM for a few years now and it seems like since the buyout happened a lot of my favorite programming has been getting a makeover. It would be a shame to see the team of Kennedy and Dibble break up. I like Holden Kushner in small doses on the weekend. He certainly has the "radio voice" for the job, but listening to him is more like listening to the Mets fan at the local bar than an experienced baseball personality.
  21. Maybe all of those replays on ESPN where he has been falsely represented as Bob Uecker finally got to him http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif There have been long threads in the past debating the worth of the TV commentators past and present, but I don't think anyone would debate what Jim Powell and Bob Uecker bring to the Brewers broadcast. I've gotten so used to Powell since he took the job that I can't imagine anyone else doing what he does at as high a level. Don't leave.
  22. I just came on here to brag that I paid $1.19 a gallon for gas. Granted it was in Wyoming where the tax on gas is lower, but it was still exciting to tank up for just over $20. The other nice part of this is that I get paid $0.55/mile for driving and I drive 2,000 - 4,000 a month for business. The tragically ironic part of this all is that I work in the Oil and Gas industry and my job is suddenly in jeopardy due to a major reduction in domestic drilling for 2009.
  23. Some parking lots have their spots at an angle to maximize efficiency. Some people like to ruin this model by driving the wrong way down these one-way parking lanes and turning 300 degrees to park in spots that people coming from the proper direction had their eye on. Where's the order?
  24. The beginning of the season started out pretty bad. It seemed like none of the episodes tied into the one that came before it, and the fact that Ari turned down a muti-million dollar contract because he cares about one of his B-List moviestars was really not believable. That said, the last episode was great and the show finally has some direction again. I didn't realize that it was the second to last episode, it will be interesting to see how they end the season.
