  1. I figured so much. It makes sense, I've just never seen it before or at least noticed it as much. EDIT: I remember in the mid nineties the Brewers being the first team to use this type of advertising behind homeplate, but I never noticed a switch to digital/green screen ads.
  2. What's the deal with the advertisement behind home plate at the Rogers Center? Whenever a player steps in front of it, it looks like he's standing in front of a green screen.
  3. I don't think Macha was ejected, but if he was it's because he was out arguing with the home plate umpire on the check swing strike by Duffy.
  4. Nice read by Braun on the line drive by Matt Stairs.
  5. A Randall Simon sighting as he gets hit by a pitch. I never knew he was Dutch.
  6. It figures that the first nationally televised Brewer game coincides with the USA WBC game. I'm thinking I'll watch the first 3-4 innings of the Brewers while not missing any Braun at bats and then switch over to the WBC permanently, while switching back to the Brewers during WBC commercials. I'll need a prepared plate of nachos and a minifridge of beers. Should be a good afternoon of baseball.
  7. I really hate 2KSports and their refusal to put out a quality product. Only 3 more years until 2013 when their exclusive rights end. For those of you with a PS3, enjoy the game it looks like a lot of fun.
  8. I was thinking the same thing. It's Spring Training, why not take some hacks. His OBP is .417, but his BA is .000 so far.
  9. The author says at the beginning that he's only including current contracts on the list. So no Mike Hampton, Chan Ho Park or Kevin Brown....
  10. It looks like Michael Garciaparra played 44 games for the Stars last year. LINK It's was weird to hear that name, because just yesterday I was reading about Nomar as a free agent.
  11. I just tuned in and swear I heard Bob say, "and Garciaparra stays in to play 2nd base". I'm guessing this isn't Nomar Garciaparra, right? Nevermind, I found the numbers on Michael Garciaparra.
  12. I think I might head down to Maryvale again this year after looking at some of those pictures. It's so cold here....
  13. I only listened to the last 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th, so I can't comment too much on his play calling ability, but I do think he has a very radio/baseball friendly voice. He sounded professinoal and relaxed. The way he laughed at Bob's jokes reminded me a lot of JP. I have a feeling that I'll end up liking him.
  14. I've gotten good deals from http://www.monoprice.com/home/index.asp for HDMI cables.
  15. After watching some of it last night, I realized how soft 2008 was for noteworthy movies. I also agree that it would have been nice to see Mickey Rourke win the oscar.
  16. Doesn't A-Rod have a lawyer or an advisor? It seems like he just made his situation a lot worse on a technical issue. Whenever a player is caught they confess to "trying it once" or passing the blame to a trainer or peer...."He told me it was B-12". Why can't they just fess up and tell the media exactly what happened. They are only digging a deeper hole for themselves.
  17. I own a Sony Bravia LCD and highly recommend going that route. I always get compliments from friends and family on how much crisper the picture looks on my HDTV than theirs. I initially wanted a Panisonic/Pioneer Plasma because I had read that LCDs had less color (especially deep blacks) and motion blurring, but I settled on the Bravia because it seems as though the lifespan of an LCD is a little longer especially with the possibility of burn-in on the plasmas. With the settings on the Bravia for color, saturation, contrast, etc. I can get an excellent picture. Motion blur has also not been a noticeable problem for me and I do a lot of gaming. My advice would be to invest a little bit more money into a purchase like this and make sure you are getting a quality product.
  18. I live in an apartment complex where smoking is allowed. This wasn't a big concern for me until some new tenants moved into the apartment below me. They are two early twenty-something year old smokers. One of kids works the graveyard shift and the other doesn't work, so it's 24 hours of smoking for the past few weeks. I've woke up at 5am from the smoke and I'm a pretty heavy sleeper. I think at this point the best option for me seems to be to find a different apartment complex. I just quit smoking myself after 10 years and this is all just driving me insane.
  19. My last few years in highschool my friends and I would drive down to the east side of Milwaukee every Sunday night to see the Dead Alewives perform improv. They usually had a band at intermission and it took place at a smaller venue where audience participation was required. It was a lot of fun. I've never had the courage to try and perform, but my hat goes off to you guy who have. A lot of my favorite TV and movie actors seem to have come from places like Second City and UCB.
  20. I am almost certain that Extra Innings does not offer a monthly or half season rate. MLB.TV on the other hand does offer a monthly rate if you want it. I have been subscribing to MLB.TV for the last 3-4 years and am quite satisfied with it. I spend about half of my time away from home for business and for this reason I don't get Extra Innings. With MLB.TV your picture quality is going to be lower. Even when the picture streaming to my computer is "HD", the framerate would often slow down or the feed would stutter. It's highly dependant on your connection speed. Also, in the rare instance that something does go wrong with MLB.TV I've found their customer service to be quite terrible. All things beging equal I would invest a little bit more money into the Extra Innings package for the ease of use and picture quality, but if you travel a lot or live with a TV hog, having the games on your computer is a nice option too. Also, MLB.TV comes with all home and away radio broadcasts too.
  21. A very entertaining read by Michael Lewis. Maybe as more teams use some of these newly developed statistics, the number of fouls commited will be reduced, making the game more fluid.

  23. Marisa Tomei does not disappoint. You must see her.
  24. I have a similar dilemma in that the only time the Brewers are in Denver is at the end of September/beginning of October for the last Rockies home series. For starters, I know that the weather this time of year in Denver is not going to make for the most relaxing experience. Second, it's a huge gamble buying these tickets now knowing that the Brewers and Rockies could both be 20 games out of first place, meaning it might not be worth the long drive to Denver from Montana and prices for these tickets on stubhub.com might come way down by the end of the year. Of course on the flip side the Rockies and Brewers could be battling it out for the WC in which case the tickets will be $300 a piece more than the current price.
