  1. For me, it really comes down to being able to draft and develop players better than we have in the past. Even in the Stearns era, it hasn’t been that good although I know we unloaded some good prospects to get Yelich. It’s pretty simple - if we can draft and develop some of these draft picks then we don’t have to go out and sign the likes of Eric Sogard and Justin Smoak to fill holes. I haven’t lost confidence in Stearns but we need to start drafting and developing better. Plain and simple.
  2. Just looking ahead to free agency this winter, I feel like Bauer would be a great fit here. He admittedly likes the city of Milwaukee and according to mlb.com, is interested in signing only one-year deals. Seems like a perfect fit for how Stearns likes to handle free agency. I wonder how much it would take to get him? A rotation of Bauer, Woodruff, Burns, etc would look excellent heading into next year.
  3. To be fair, I don’t think we’re that good either. Not Pittsburgh bad, but not good.
  4. Interesting- definitely not a “buyer” type trade.
  5. Pittsburgh won a bullpen game yesterday so it’s time to return the favor.
  6. If the Padres offer Gore then I would hope Stearns jumps on that and never looks back. A future rotation of Gore, Woodruff, Burns and Houser is dream-worthy.
  7. If you’re the Padres, you might as well go all in now and get the best reliever in the game.
  8. Nobody from the top 5 in the Padres system. Must be nice to have a farm system that loaded.
  9. Oh to be a Padres fan right now!
  10. Hader AND Hiura? What am I missing here?
  11. This was just a dreadful loss. Woodruff on the mound and you’re facing the Pirates bullpen all game and you come up with one run. Good thing we came back and won last night.
  12. Yeah that about does it for San Diego. Maybe the White Sox or Dodgers swoop in and make a deal for Hader. Don’t have much confidence in the Twins.
  13. Wow the Padres aren’t messing around, are they?
  14. The Pirates have had base runners all over the place today. Meanwhile, our offense can’t get it going against this horrible Pirates pitching staff. What a frustrating game.
  15. Now let’s go out and win 12-0 tomorrow because I can’t take another game like this!
  16. Well that probably eliminates San Diego. It’s too bad the Yankees don’t have a better farm system. I could see them making a desperation trade for Hader and way overpaying.
  17. The Dodgers just seem like an organization that is reluctant trading away top prospects and after the Betts trade this past winter, I just don’t seem them making another big trade involving their big time prospects. I think the Padres and White Sox are the most realistic teams that would be willing to overpay.
  18. I think we already knew this but Robert Murray is reporting today the Padres are among the teams to check in on Hader.
  19. Yeah and I would think the Phillies are pretty desperate at this point to make it back into the postseason.
  20. Trading Hader is about the only way we’re going to add some young, talented bats to this organization. There’s not much in the minor leagues and outside of Yelich, Hiura and maybe Urias, there’s not much in the majors either.
  21. So what would a "bananas" offer look like that is also reasonable?
  22. Woodruff is about due for a monster game and with the Reds offense stinking up the joint, I’m expecting good things tonight.
  23. I really like our pitching staff (both starters and bullpen) but we really could use some fresh talent offensively and if that means trading Hader then so be it. The Twins, Padres, White Sox, etc all seem like perfect trade partners so there should be some good competition for Hader.
