    I’m beginning to think Burnes doesn’t get dealt period. Just doesn’t seem like the Brewers are real motivated to move him and I’m guessing their asking price is too high for a one year rental. I think he’ll be the Brewers’s OD starter.

    They probably hand out one more contract in the 1 year, $8 million range to someone like Carlos Santana. I'd guess no more than $10 million if they keep Burnes and Adames.

    January will be a busy month of transactions but I don't expect the Brewers to get involved much with free agency. I do expect a few trades to be made though. Should be a fun month.

    Other than extensions to Peralta and Ashby, I can’t remember the last time we spent any significant money on pitching. Maybe Chacin in 2017?

    I understand Luciano is ranked # 26 by MLB pipeline but just looking at his minor league stats over the course of his career, I just don’t see a top 50 prospect there. What am I missing with him? 2022 was nothing special and 2023 was even less spectacular. Maybe he battled injuries last year?

    The Orioles could trade for Burnes and still easily have a top 3 farm system. The issue is they are so damn stubborn when it comes to trading prospects. I’ll believe it when I see it.

    Gasser would definitely get an opportunity and then maybe they could sign one of the FA pitchers out there to a one year deal.

    I wonder if the Brewers are going to try and trade Burnes before January 12 which is the deadline for reaching an agreement on arbitration. They probably don't want to relive that again.

    Are the Twins in “go for it” mode? I can’t see them trading for a one year rental like Burnes.

    Chourio/Holliday would really be something but as you said, not gonna happen. I would be perfectly content with some combination of Mayo, Basallo, Ortiz, Norby, etc. Just not sure if Baltimore will actually trade their prospects.

    Maybe I'm missing something but why would the Twins want Burnes for one year? Can't see them trading someone like Lee for one season of Burnes.

    Yeah with Quero coming very soon, I was never overly concerned with who they’d sign as backup catcher.

    I’m also beginning to think the Brewers and Dodgers don’t match up very well on a Burnes trade. Pepiot is already gone and I think that makes it doubtful they move Sheehan at this point. I’m not all that interested in any of their other pitching prospects in a Burnes trade. Maybe Adames but not Burnes.

    If they want to hold onto Burnes and try and make another run in 2024, then as monty pointed out, they better not half-ass this offseason. Get some guys who can hit the ball. Spend some money. Do what you have to do to surround the pitching staff with a halfway decent offense.

    First we had to wait for Ohtani to sign for things to get rolling and now we're waiting on Yamamoto. Gotta love the MLB offseason.

    We have Contreras and who else? Caratini just signed with Houston.

    I like this trade and I think it makes sense for both teams. The Brewers get two top 100 pitching prospects and the Giants make a big splash after missing out on Ohtani. They’d have a good chance at resigning Burnes too.

    Twins and Blue Jays possibly in trade talks per Morosi. Kepler and Polanco are some of the names that have come up.
