  1. Biloxi’s offense has really struggled lately. Hoping guys like Frelick, Mitchell, Wiemer, Valerio, etc can get it going again.
  2. Pretty pumped about the Frelick-Mitchell-Wiemer outfield in Biloxi.
  3. I’m expecting another close, low scoring game. The only question for me is whether Hader is available if we’re ahead late.
  4. We are going to win a TON of games against the Pirates, Reds and Cubs this year.
  5. Of course the Giants would start some random lefty. They’re not dumb. Maybe the Brewers offense will break through but I don’t have a lot confidence.
  6. I have been admittedly down on Mitchell lately but this little burst has been exciting. Hope he can keep it going. And what more can you say about Wiemer and Valerio? They just continue to impress.
  7. Stearns and Mark A had one job this offseason and that was to beef up the lineup and so far, they simply didn’t get the job done. This offense is going to drive me nuts all summer.
  8. Our offense is absolutely no match against Philly’s offense. It’s almost comical.
  9. Feels like we face a lefty starter every other game.
  10. Mitchell hasn’t even been good in AA. He’s not ready yet.
  11. Valerio is really becoming an exciting prospect. He’s always had a tremendous OBP and his power numbers have improved every year. Him and Wiemer make a pretty exciting 1-2 punch in that lineup.
  12. I would agree with others here - the lineup is dull and just not exciting to watch every day. Doesn’t mean they can’t be middle of the pack stats-wise, but the offense is missing some excitement for sure, particularly with Yelich not being the same player. With guys like Mitchell and Wiemer getting closer to the big leagues, maybe that changes in the next couple of years but outside of Urias and Adames, there’s not much for young, talented hitters in the lineup.
  13. I’m a huge Ashby guy but the control issues are a concern.
  14. Valerio continues to be an on base machine. Really looking forward to following him all year.
  15. With Opening Day just a couple of days away, it’s probably safe to assume the offseason is all but done. What grade would you give Stearns and his team? The lockout obviously didn’t help, but it was a relatively quite offseason for the Brewers. The two “big” additions were Renfroe and McCutchen. The Renfroe addition was basically a lateral move as we lost Avi Garcia and the McCutchen signing was just meh. It was another offseason where we didn’t address 1B or 3B - we’ll see how Urias and Rowdy does. The bullpen additions were ok - not anything exciting but I wasn’t expecting much there anyway. Overall, was really hoping for a big time bat but didn’t get it so I’ll go with a C- for a grade.
  16. Must be nice to be a team like the Padres or Dodgers where you can just sign or trade for anybody you want. Of course, it doesn’t mean poop if you don’t even make the playoffs.
  17. I totally understand your frustration and I’m there too. It’s hard to accept but it is what it is - we are a small market. I think we might also have to accept that it might be an organizational philosophy too. I think Stearns and his team run their analytics and truly believe they can get guys at much lower prices who will put up similar numbers to the high priced guys. Would he take the same approach if he had access to a higher payroll (Mets), I don’t know but he doesn’t really have that much of a choice here. Maybe Mark A REALLY opens up the pocket books some day but I’m not holding my breath and hoping for a marquee free agent to sign here is a hopeless dream. And remember, it goes both ways. Free agents have to want to come to Milwaukee over places like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc. It’s just tough.
  18. It stands to reason if the Brewers and Pirates talked at the deadline, that the Pirates are at least intrigued with our prospects and would be willing to trade within the division. The thing with trading away top prospects is our system can always be replenished through the draft, trades and international signings so if you have an opportunity to trade for guys like Reynolds, Jose Ramirez, etc, then you have to do it.
  19. Is it really that much more enjoyable living in the Twin Cities than it is in Milwaukee or does it purely come down to Mark A being a cheaper owner? Maybe more due to organizational philosophy? The Twins seem to have had a much easier time recruiting these big name free agents than the Brewers. Must be fun to be a Twins fan this offseason- they’ve been pretty aggressive but we’ll see if it amounts to anything.
