No Flaherty in this series which helps but Wainwright is having a good season and tomorrow’s starter is a tough lefty so I would be very happy with 2 out of 3. At this point, you’re just trying to avoid any major injuries and long losing streaks.
I agree with others here. I expect Omar, Adames, Cain and maybe even Yelich to get a day off. A lot of bullpen arms will be unavailable today too. If we pull off a win today against Webb, that’ll really be something.
The jump from low-A to high-A must be significant in terms of talent. I’ve just noticed that guys like Valerio and Gray struggled to get things going after dominating low-A and it’s only been two whole games for Frelick but he seems to be in the same boat (very small sample I know). Wiemer seems to be the exception.
With Norris coming in and the Brewers having to face the Giants ace bullpen guys, I don’t have a good feeling about this one at all. Hope I wake up in the morning to a nice surprise.
Frelick leading off in his Rattlers debut. That Rattlers lineup is pretty sick. CF Frelick 2B Valerio DH Wiemer 3B Warren RF Gray Jr. 1B McGee SS Zamora C Kahle LF Rodriguez
This is a really good point and the reason why I think they don’t ever spend a lot of money on pitching in the offseason. They feel like they can get guys cheap, get them in that lab down in Arizona and turn them into legitimate pitchers. Just look at Hunter Strickland and the turnaround he’s made.
I’ll admit I’m a big Valerio guy so I’ll have to go with him just slightly over Wiemer. He’s hit at every stop so far and has shown a little more pop this year. Plus, he walks more than he strikes out which is obviously a tremendous skill set. I’m really excited to follow all three guys next year though.
