  1. Let's also remember that if CV came in, neither him nor Torres would be available today. At least CV can pitch today without having to go a 4th straight day. I can't believe people are actually criticizing this move. I still haven't seen any strong argument against it, other than you have no faith in Torres from holding the other team scoreless. If the score were 1-0, and Sheets came up in that situation in the top of the 9th would still pinch hit? Even if Sheets had a 2 hit shutout and at 100 pitches? Please don't tell me you would take him out.
  2. What do suggest is a better measuring stick? He makes a very strong argument as to why Torres was the better option. I have yet to hear any solid reason as to why CV was the better option, other than "Because it's not what Yost did".
  3. That would make some sense. Just a little weird that MLB would post (re-post) that now. At least update the thing.
  4. By walking Pujols, you put the winning run on 3rd, with no room to pitch around Ankiel. Pujols has a .304 average versus RHP's, while Ankiel has a .370 OBP vs. RHP's. An intentional walk would have been very harmful there. I use average vs. OBP because Pujols would need a hit to score the winning run from 2nd, whereas Ankiel would only need to get on base to score the run with the bases loaded.
  5. Brewers already had the lead, and Torres is their closer. He was the best pitching option to seal the victory. I had no problem with the move.
  6. There is a new article on MLB.com showing the top 50 prospects. Escobar and Jeffress are 42 and 43, respectively. No La Porta or Gamel on the list? The list includes guys in the majors that still have rookie status.
  7. so if I am a TWC customer, I can just flip to those channels to watch? Or do i have to sign up for the preview first? If you have the digital package, you can just flip to those channels. I got to watch the end of the Cubs loss last night.
  8. Only if its their 2nd trip to the mound in the inning. On the first trip, he has to tell the umpire before he signals the bullpen.
  9. You must be a big boy. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Excellent job by Yost tonight. Used Mota and Gagne in fairly low leverage situations (have the lead, facing the bottom of the order, 6th and 7th innings). Had a lefty warming up in case it got to Ankiel. Also, starting Hall and Weeks against a righty, as they were the offensive heros tonight. Also, anyone asking for Counsell as a defensive replacement for Weeks, I'd have to strongly disagree with. If you are going to use him, put him at third. Both plays to Rickie in the 9th were very difficult plays.
  11. Weeks reached base 7 of 15 times in the SF series. That included two games against better RHP's than anyone the Cards can throw out there. Hopefully, Rickie is turning the corner.
  12. Don't know if this has been mentioned, but Weeks did reach base 7 out of 15 times in the Giants series. Not too bad considering the three young and talented starters that he faced.
  13. Your second sentence totally contradicts your first. I don't think anyone here is saying Durham shouldn't get the occasional start at 2nd. It just shouldn't be a strict platoon.
  14. By that reasoning, Rivera should be starting at catcher every day. He is the better offensive option. If you haven't realized, Durham makes Weeks look like a gold glover.
  15. In all fairness, he was out of the inning, if Branyan can field a somewhat routine groundball.
  16. Ford scratched from BC's starting lineup. Maybe TH's rumor of a trade to Oakland for Street are true.
  17. Gabe Kapler has done better than expected.
  18. I am all for abusing Sheets and Sabathia this year. High PAP points usually effects pitchers the following year, or two years later (i.e. Wood and Prior). By most accounts, neither Sheets nor CC will be Brewers next year, so they better get everything out of them that they can this year.
  19. Robin19, you are saying that media relations is as important as bullpen use, and other in-game decisions? Instead of media relations, it should be player relations/clubhouse management. That has a lot more effect on W/L's than anything he says to the media.
  20. This media relation point is baffling to me. So, if Ned treated the media better, the Brewers would have how many more wins? My educated guess is zero. Managers get judged for on-field performance, and currently the Brewers are 2nd in the division, and first in the wild card. How would you guys treat someone who spread rumors to co-workers, family, and everyone else that you were being fired? How many media members have apologized to Yost for saying/writing that he was fired after the Boston series? To speculate is one thing, but to report as fact (when wrong) is unethical.
  21. People talk like Villanueva is Matt Wise. He pitched one inning people!!! He will still be availabe tomorrow if needed. Quit nit-picking and enjoy a 10 run victory.
  22. I would love for them to call him up on August 31. That way he is eligible for the playoff roster. His bat could be a nice lift off the bench.
  23. Swallowing too many sunflower seeds at once.
  24. I doubt it. I'm sure if Prince were the tieing run, they would have brought in the lefty to face him. Prince has not hit lefties well at all this year.
