  1. Brewers have had 18 plate appearances, 12 have not put the ball in play.
  2. Any chance Durham could play 3rd? Start Weeks at 2nd and Durham at 3rd. Durham's range issue wouldn't be as much of a problem at 3rd.
  3. A strikeout quite possibly allows three runs to score that inning, maybe more, considering that Cameron followed with a hit and Counsell would have had a sac fly. The DP takes a runner off the bases and adds the extra out. It's definitely worse than a K in that situation. And Cameron could have possibly grounded into a DP to end the game, or K'd as he has a fancy of doing. The pitch selection would have been different to Cameron, and he would have had more pressure on him with the team still behind.
  4. I would have rather put someone up their who has a chance of actually getting a hitWe better trade for somebody then, because nobody on this team is getting hits with guys in scoring position.
  5. I can't believe all the hatred toward a guy that tied the game, and moved the go ahead run to 3rd. Would you rather have Hart in there to strikeout? Don't even try to say that a strikeout would have been better than the DP there.
  6. He tied the game. That's more than the rest of the lineup has done on the homestand. With the way they are hitting, I will take a DP to tie the game.
  7. Can't say there is anything wrong with the lineup with those players. Do you want Counsell leading off? Cameron in the 5 hole?
  8. We had our wedding at the Minnesota Zoo. It was a blast. The head table was right in front of a dolphin tank.
  9. I am trying the same thing. Don't think it will work too well, but its worth a shot anyway.
  10. Weeks and Hardy are 4-4 reaching base. The rest of the lineup is currently 0-11. The top is doing there job, the rest are not.
  11. I may be wrong, but I don't think Ned called for a bunt there. It looked like Cameron bunted on his own, since he squared around really late.
  12. You would be saying the exact same thing if he had brought Mota in there. There is only one dependable reliever in Torres. The rest need to start pitching better.
  13. Glad to see you are on the Yost bandwagon.
  14. This logic is so flawed. If Kendall is still on first, the pitcher would be pitching out of the stretch, and would most likely have different pitch selection. The hit and run may have been dumb, but you can't say that Parra still would have tripled, if Kendall was still on first.
  15. I'm sorry, but that kind of talking should not be allowed on here, sarcastic, or not.
  16. There is a Chile, WI
  17. Brewers are four games over Pythag, and Cards are one game better. Brewers might have been better if they didn't score all those extra runs in the 9th last night.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. Or keeping in a tiring starter for a career high in pitches to face Braun. Predictably he gave up a 2 run homer. So, that's two decisions in one game that would have had the Yost haters out in droves last night.
  19. Looks like they are trying to squeeze the game in before the rain hits. Currently 0-0 in top of 3.
  20. My apologies, I stopped reading after the first part.
  21. Can't believe nobody has mentioned two of my most hated Brewers of all time: Ronnie Belliard and Jose Hernandez. Also on my list are AJ Pierzynski, Zambrano, and Soriano.
  22. Russ, I understand what you are saying. However, isn't the more logical argument to take a K versus a BIP (not a BIP out)? A BIP will lead to more possibilities than just outs. I realize part of that is factored into OBP and SLG, but a K is still not equal to a BIP.
  23. Just did a quick check at the 2007 and 2008 seasons. These are the top teams in pitchers strikeouts and their ranking in MLB in team ERA. 2007: 1. Cubs (4) 2. Rays (30) 3. Dodgers (10) 4. Brewers (15) 2008: 1. Cubs (4) 2. Giants (17) 3. Reds (24) So, in this sample, there doesn't seem to be a strong correlation between pitching strikeouts and ERA. I would guess that if you mapped out all of the teams over the years, that the result would look very similar to the hitters one in the article. There would be a slight decrease in ERA with more strikeouts, but not nearly as drastic as the individual breakdown in the article.
  24. Thanks for the article BSCR. It is an interesting read, but seems pretty flawed to me. It is comparing apples and oranges. It is comparing offensive team strikeout totals and individual pitching strikeout totals. I think a better comparison would be the teams' pitching K totals related to team ERA.
