  1. Delfino, Ukic, Thomas Warrick. Those guys will make $11M this year and we'll be paying Bowen over $2M and he retired. Don't be swayed by the reporting and Hammond's quotes. You're doing exactly what he wants you to do.And those are all short term deals. Sessions got a 4 year deal, and CV a 5 or 6 year deal. Role players are not worth contracts that long, especially when you have no chance at a championship in the next two years.
  2. Hammond didn't sign Redd to his ridiculous deal, nor Gadz, nor Charlie Bell. The team is stuck with the contracts. Even if they trade them, they have to take near equal salaries back. His hands are tied until those contracts expire. Neither Sessions, nor CV, will be vital pieces of deep playoff runs for any team. At best, they would be role players. Why sign role players to 5 or 6 year deals (see Gadz and Bell).
  3. Per jsonline, the Bucks will not match the offer for Sessions.
  4. Vargas vs Pujols with the bases loaded.....this should end well.
  5. This team will go nowhere with Redd's contract on the books. The goal should be to create the best team, without adding additional salary in 2010-11, when Redd's contract expires. Both CV and Sessions would have had to be extended beyond then, and they do not fit into Skiles coaching philosophy. Neither play defense, and a box of rocks is smarter than both of them combined. I like adding Delfino, because he is very good defensively, and a very good shooter. It will give Jennings one more option to dish to when he breaks down a defense.
  6. He did leave Suppan in to give up the second grand slam and 10 runs in the start.
  7. Cameron wound up closer to the grass in LF than 2nd base. It was not even close.
  8. He's 1-3 and should have had an RBI ground out. He partly did his job there, but Cameron made a very dumb mistake.
  9. Hart whiffed on a bunt attempt and Prince was caught off of 2nd.
  10. Ok, I need a rule clarification here... If he had stayed on 2nd and someone got a hit/walk/HBP/whatever, is it automatically out when a runner reaches 1st? If he steals 3rd and is driven in by a sac fly (i.e. no one reaches 1st), can he score without tagging up (assuming the ump realized he didn't tag up)?The only way he would be out, is if the other team appealed first before another pitch was thrown. Once a pitch was thrown, he legally occupies 2nd base.
  11. Not if he hits for Counsell. They just brought in a lefty, and he has to pitch to one batter.
  12. I disagree. You pinch hit for Counsell, because Embry has to stay in for one hitter. By the time it gets to Cat, they will simply bring in a righty to face the pinch hitter.
  13. I would rather not have Hart and Hall in the lineup. There are better options than those two against right handers.
  14. I really don't like it, because odds are that 40% of his at-bats will be against a righty. If Macha is willing to pinch hit for him in the 6th, or 7th, I would not feel so bad about it.
  15. With all of the platooning, and split differentials nowadays, how long will be until teams play tricks with their starting pitchers? For example, what if the Marlins had Miller throw one pitch, and then bring in a rested right handed starter. The Brewers would then have Hart and Hall at the top versus a righty. That would be ugly.
  16. The whole team needs to be dismantled for youth and draft picks. What do you call those 3 guys? Looks like 3 young, talented guys at affordable numbers. Those 3 > Jefferson all day. Even if you think they are role players, at least they are young enough where they COULD improve. Sessions even COULD be a star, not saying he will be but at least you have that chance, you can't say that about Jefferson at this stage. Also, those smaller deals are easier to move down the road.I call them role players. At best, they could get the Bucks 40-45 wins and a 6th seed. Let them go, trade any assets for picks, and rebuild. The goal is to win a championship, not back into the playoffs. The NBA is not like MLB, where any team that makes the playoffs can win the championship.
  17. So would you rather have three role players at $14 million or one at $14 million? I'd rather have three personally, especially when Sessions can become much more than a role player. I am saying it makes absolutely no difference with this team. They won't win a championship either way. You need a superstar to win a championship. The only way to do that is to rebuild through the draft, and hope you get the right pick at the right time.
  18. Who cares? Those three can be good role players, but they are a dime a dozen in this league. They won't do much good without a superstar, and the Bucks have nothing close to that right now. The whole team needs to be dismantled for youth and draft picks. These filler material players can be acquired at any time.
  19. Which duo will have better success tonight? Hart/Hall or Kendall/Suppan? Unfortunately, the better bet may be the latter.
  20. Gamel is a lefty, so going to right shouldn't be impressive. I agree that it was nice to see him hammer a first pitch strike.
  21. That was a bizarre move, unless Rivera is hurt or not yet 100%. I think Kendall came in for defense the previous inning.
  22. Dave Bush, day game, at home....sounds like a no-hitter to me.
