  1. Gobias - FYI, there is a big ALS softball tournament/fundraiser in Grafton July 13-15. In addition to the wood bat tournament they have a bunch of silent auction items and raffle prizes.
  2. As mentioned earlier, baseball is a game of stats. Gambling did not help Rose get any of his 4256 hits. PED's did help others get their stats. I would definitely let him in.
  3. Actually, they must only pitch to one batter, not the whole half inning.
  4. Or a little less on the throw. Went just out of reach of my buddy who was right next to me.
  5. Even if you don't let runners advance, it is still a better system, just not perfect. In the previous example, if you were on offense, would you rather have 1st and 2nd with and extra out, or bases loaded without the out? The key is to get the call right. There will be no perfect system, but getting the call right is a huge step in the right direction.
  6. It depends on the situation. In your scenario, it would probably be ruled a single, and the runners would advance one or two bases depending on where they were when the ball hit the ground, where in the outfield the ball was, etc. Same thing they do now if they call a homer and the ball actually hit the top of the fence.
  7. So, you would rather have the offensive team get punished with an out, or maybe two, instead of one of the teams maybe being punished by an extra base? They will obviously have to use their best guess, just like they already do on fan interference and obstruction calls.
  8. His head is back in his butt forcing him to shift his stance.
  9. That first grounder may have been the slowest grounder to ever get throught the middle of the infield untouched.
  10. With the current lineup, I would move everyone up a spot and move Gomez to 9th. My second choice would be for Kotsay to hit 2nd. While he isn't an ideal long-term choice in that spot, he is currently getting on-base (.388 OBP).
  11. If his defensive numbers were horrible without Prince at 1B, how bad will they be with Prince at 1B? An average firstbaseman could have saved Escobar a few of his errors last year.
  12. My wife and I both had it done at Hale Vision Center, with Dr. Hale, on the west side of Brookfield. We have both had stellar results. They do the only lasik procedure that is accepted for military personnel and astronauts. I highly recommend him.
  13. It may be painful to watch the Brewers defense this year, which is why I am skeptical about the Greinke trade. They will have below average defenders at every position except 2B (some will argue Weeks is not average, or better) and CF (only if Gomez is starting). Fielder, Betencourt, Braun, and Hart are among the worst at their positions. I would consider McGahee below average as well with his lack of range.
  14. Not really needed since none of those guys is listed in the vote totals in the original post, which lists all players that got votes.
  15. I agree with most that a manager's in-game decisions have little effect on a team's record. However, I think their most important job is clubhouse leader. They need to manage all of the egos while keeping respect from those players. That was my biggest problem with Macha. He did not stick up for his players, so they did not play all-out for him. If a manager loses a clubhouse, which I believe Macha did, it can cost a team much more than 2 or 3 games.
  16. Its impossible to distinguish "trends" in 150 PA'sThey aren't basing grades off of trends. They are basing them off of performance THIS year. Therefore, the stat is totally relevant to Prince's grade and performance during the 2010 season. Nobody is claiming that he will do the same next year, and it is a red flag for his future performance.
  17. It is a 99 Passat. By doing just a little research, it is not a used car that one should buy. Too late for that. I think she will fight to have the whole thing covered. The warranty also lists things that aren't covered, and the turbo charger would not fit into any of those categories.
  18. My sister has come across a problem with her new car, and wondered if any of you have any suggestions. She just bought a used car in MN. It came with a Limited Warranty that includes engine repair, transmission problems, drive axle, brakes, steering, and other misc items. Well, she drove it from MN to WI and immediately had problems. She called her dealer, and they agreed to pay for a tow to the dealer nearest to us. They diagnosed the problem as broken turbo charge. They offered to split the bill. I do not know much about cars, but it would seem that the turbo charge would be part of the engine, and would be fully covered. The warranty mentions the following under covered Gasoline Engine - All lubricated engine parts, intake manifolds, engine block, and cylinder gear, rotary engine housing, and ring gear. So, my question is, has anyone experienced similar problems with a "new" used car, or have any knowledge as to what exactly the turbo charge does?
  19. MPD is not in charge of issuing parking tickets. I believe it is the Dept. of Public Works that issues most/all parking citations.
  20. Except for the fact that Prince was well inside the baseline. He tried tagging the runner before he had the ball, and he wasn't close to touching the ball.
  21. They gave Pagnozzi a hit for reaching first, but since the throw went into the dugout, allowing him to advance to second is where the error was charged. Next year, Escobar would not get an error there, because we would have a 1B who can actually scoop a ball. Prince made a pathetic effort for that one. A good defensive 1B would do wonders for the team defense.
  22. Try replacing the batteries in the remotes, and make sure none of the buttons are getting stuck on any of the remotes. We had the same problem. The button in our garage tends to stick. Just make sure it pops back after it is pressed.
