  1. Good info. Cot's only has a managers list updated since 2007, but Cox is another that was earning $3MM. So $10MM over 3 years is actually exactly what to expect, at least for an opening number from his side of the table.
  2. Though the $10MM asking price now seems to be bogus, I don't understand why this is necessarily an indication of the sentiment above. Valentine, like anyone else, is going to want what he can get, whether he wants the job or not. If you were offered the best job you could imagine being offered, would you just say "pay me whatever"? I doubt it. You'd still negotiate. If you have leverage, you would use it.
  3. Homerun Battle 3D I've always only downloaded free games onto my phone, but Homerun Battle had a free version and it hooked me. I ponied up the $4.99 for the full version yesterday. Great game, super addicting, and it's baseball.
  4. You can get some 12" laptops with capable specs on NewEgg for under $600. LINK
  5. Hence the dilemma. Do you want a 'good cop' a la Hurdle, or do you want a hard 'butt'..... The 'company man' type in Macha with his detached style (though he didn't seem necessarily to be a 'bad cop') and unwillingness to protect his players went over like a lead balloon, so I don't think a gung ho hard core style would work. I don't want a good cop, bad cop, yes man, players manager, media clown, quiet type, loud mouth, or emotional manager. If you can be described by just one of those terms, you're not going to last long as a manager, because a team needs a little bit of all of that, and certain things at certain times. I want a guy that can play all the parts, and knows when to play them. As for the candidates we know of, I can tell you the known guys are not what I'm looking for. I don't know enough about the guys who haven't managed yet, but that already makes them better candidates. From what I do know about those guys, I would like Listach or Cora, with Wallach being acceptable too.
  6. ?? New manager thread: http://brewersfandemonium...eply/659452#reply-659452 20 posts per page Blank page "miggs" at October 22, 2010 4:54 PM (Central) was the first new post it should have brought me to. "RockCoCougars" at October 22, 2010 7:44 PM (Central) was the most recent post at the time I clicked the link and got the blank page instead. Note: This happens to me in that thread almost everytime. I'm guessing you know already, but it seems like certain threads are plagued with that problem, rather than it being just a general thing that happens all over the place. It seems to me that most threads always work fine, and some thread always give me a problem.
  7. Does Samuel have any managing experience whatsoever, or is his experience limited to being a professional butt-slapper (base coach)? I didn't think that I could hear a name that would be worse than Brenly, but Samuel may be.I don't know anything about Samuel's coaching style or managerial ability. That already makes him a better candidate than Brenly.
  8. Side note: All those parts are currently sitting in my NewEgg shopping cart. While watching a Youtube video, there's a NewEgg advert to the right of the video that is literally just cycling through all of those items or extremely related. Interesting.
  9. I've decided to go novel and pack some punch into a mini-ITX build. I can't seem to find a drawback with today's mini-ITX mobo's besides the lack of expansion spots, something that I don't think will bother me. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though. I've verified all the dimensions, everything should fit into the case nicely. Here's my parts list... So color me incredibly surprised, but I'm thinking 300W power might just work out. I can always swap out the PSU for a 450W if I have problems, but if I can save $80 bucks, might as well try for it. Thoughts, comments? And my one question would be regarding cooling. I didn't use any third-party equipment in my build from five years ago, and know little to nothing about CPU cooling. Anyone know if I'll need something for this machine?
  10. 119 with a handful of "of course!" guys. I had everyone from 2005 thru 2010 though.
  11. Scratch that laptop, I'm leaning towards building a PC instead.
  12. Ugh, I'd lose too much of the immersion factor. And that's what I'm hearing... Civ V has some bugs and some AI problems. But even if Civ V ~ Civ IV BTS, then Civ V > Civ IV Vanilla, which is very promising. I did play the Civ V demo on my current rig, but even with the lowest graphics settings the game lagged severely and crashed around turn 70.
  13. I need some input on these laptop specs: Intel Core i5 460M(2.53GHz) 4GB Memory DDR3 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 - Video to be exported to a 1920 x 1080 res monitor when at home. Really, the only computer game I play is Civilization. Otherwise, I've stuck to console gaming. I'm hesitating a great deal with this potential purchase, because I'm pretty sure I'm roping myself into limited gaming potential until my next computer purchase comes along in about four years. It would work on today's game (right?) but I'll be S.O.L. 16 months in the future. Can anyone confirm or deny that suspicion, or add any other pros/cons?
  14. P.C. Police here... I feel bad for you being in this situation and all, but does the color of the guy's skin really matter in this story?
  15. Charter is awful. It took me over an hour and two people with customer support to find out what the random TNF0583759037495 - $114.98 charge on my bill was.
  16. What's the point of sending a message about birthdays if you can't say "birthday"?Ha, that's a weird collection of words that would cause problems.
  17. I nearly just submitted a cover letter that said (paraphrasing), "I have the ability to quick thinkly." EDIT: Wow. I had a typo in my typo.
  18. I was all jacked up for the Civ V release, had a new laptop picked out (just waiting on a call that should be "you got the job" before I dish out $800), was reading the manual and checking out reviews... And now that it's out, suddenly my interest has dropped. I can't pinpoint why. I've played the series since Civ I, but my current attitude is "meh". So someone do something to jack me back up about it!
  19. Civ V, Call of Duty Black Ops, Civ V, Fallout New Vegas, and Civ V are on my buy list. Civ VVVVVVVVV!!!!!
  20. Actually, it appears the injury was pretty serious. There wasn't a lot of blood, but it punctured the chest cavity and allowed air in, leading to the possibility of a collapsed lung. He's spending a few days in the hospital and is considered out for the season.
  21. If you look into the stats, part of the reason for the surge is clearly because he's altered his mechanics or mentality to hit more flyballs - his FB% is up to 55.2% compared to a career 45.8%. Any "suspect" spike would be visible in the HR/FB rate (but clouded by luck). Bautista does have a spike (21.1% verse career rate of 13.8%), but it's not completely unprecedented. Beltre's 2004 spike was higher. (Data isn't available on Anderson and Gonzalez.) Rickie Weeks jumped from ~12% career to 19.1% in 2009, which is close to Bautista's spike. Ben Zobrist spiked from 3.6% to 17.5% in 2008 (at age 27). Another aspect to look at is his average HR distance. In 2010, his average HR has traveled 405.2 feet. That is up only slightly from his 400.5 foot career average prior to 2010. So his actual ability to hit a baseball a really long way seems to have increased slightly, but I don't think it's enough to call it suspect. It's just a perfect storm of factors.
  22. One weirdo-perv to every four or five normals? Which is pretty crazy. I must disagree. I checked it out last night for the first time and I'd say I saw a lot of penises. Probably 7/10 times were pervy guys. Time of day could have something to do with it.
  23. One weirdo-perv to every four or five normals? Which is pretty crazy.
  24. They should be able to get Piniero from them for McGehee, and if the Brewers include a prospect or two they may be able to get Santana. I'd rather have Pineiro. One year for $8MM. You said it yourself, Santana has been barely average the past two seasons, while Piniero has had great control and a good groundball rate the last two seasons, resulting in FIP's and xFIP's in the mid-3's. That's provided he's healthy, of course.
