  1. I use it for work (fantasy sports) and have a bunch of beat writers, Chad Ochocinco (OGOchoCinco), and Neil deGrasse Tyson (neiltyson). The latter is a popular astrophysicist who is really down to earth (no pun intended) - quite funny and informative. I highly recommend following him.
  2. The key to Scrabble is not to have a big vocabulary (although that helps) - the key is optimal letter placement. Work those bonus tiles hard and treasure those high point letters. Don't use an "S" unless it's at least 10 points better than your best non-S word. Value a blank slightly more...
  3. I'm pretty sure it was Carmen Sandiego... http://keviviano.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/e7bb49db63703e0d_carmen-sandiego-xlarge.jpg But I'm just a gumshoe.
  4. This is not funny, it sounds rather insulting and condescending, not to mention over-exaggerating.No, it's spot on.
  5. Let's not get carried away, ERA over 7 or less games means next to nothing. Penny is doing good things though.
  6. Brilliant stuff. Can't help but think of Andy Kaufman when I watch that video. The joke is only funny to him, and not really a joke at all.

  8. I would agree with this for the most part. But, I think a some of the names/logos that are considered acceptable might really just be aversive racism. I do not understand the distinction between this being okay: http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/Cleveland%20Indians%20Logo.png Yet this being totally unacceptable for a sports logo: http://depts.washington.edu/civilr/images/Coon%20Chicken%20images/menufront_250.jpg The only difference seems to be the level of education or awareness of the culture and history.
  9. I'd be rather angry if I was a mid-major conference. All the committee is doing is pushing out these minor conference teams in favor of three more .500 major conference teams. These play-in games aren't for the bubble teams...
  10. P.C. and basically racist are two different things.
  11. My roommate is one of those people, he also hates the Redskins. Something about racist mascots/names................I don't think any logo is worse than the Indians' is. Time for a change.
  12. Here's the 10-run first inning game from last weekend against the Nationals too: http://www.fangraphs.com/tgraphs/20100418_Brewers_Nationals_0.png Winning is fun.
  13. Well that sure is interesting. That's the first time I've seen Suppan's release being discussed as inevitable. I wonder what their source was in that regard. There wasn't one. Pure speculation.
  14. God blessed Texas with His own hand Brought down angels from the promised land Gave 'em a place where they could dance If you wanna see heaven brother here's your chance I've been sent to spread the message God blessed Texas
  15. Going to the game tomorrow (from Madison), looking for recommendations on parking. A guy I know from Chicago recommended a tucked away residential area about 3 miles from the stadium, where we'd park and get a cab. But I see on Cubs.com they advertise a shuttle from DeVry University to Wrigley for $6. Has anyone used that? We'll be arriving in the area barely ahead of the first pitch, and won't want to wait around 20-30 minutes for shuttle - how often do they move? EDIT: I see that the DeVry University shuttle is only available for night and weekend games, so that's out.
  16. Had a car of people bail on me for a group outing to the game Thursday. It's at 1:20pm, at Wrigley Field in Chicago (just so that's clear.) I've got 5 general admission tickets in the outfield bleachers. I purchased them online, and with taxes and fees it was $18-something a ticket, so I'm just asking $19. Let me know if you're interested.
  17. Fixed, I believe.
  18. His approach looks better to this graph too... http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d175/sbrylski06/swingingphp.gif http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d175/sbrylski06/takingphp.gif Where'd you get this data? The site above says he's seen 17.2% sliders. EDIT: Nevermind, I see it's from Fangraphs. Must have more stringent criteria for what defines a slider. EDIT2: Actually, Fangraphs says Hart's seen 17.2% of unknown pitches. I'll bet a handful of those are termed sliders by the site I linked to.
  19. Ha, we talked about this too as we watched the game. I get some comfort from that, as well as the fact that it was a great game to watch. I'm not left with a bitter taste as I would have been with a Duke blowout.
  20. Was in an episode of The Young & Restless and loved the experience. Pull hitter.
  21. I could live without... TV (might actually be something worth giving up.) Microwave (most of the stuff I put in a microwave is pretty unhealthy.) Automobile (as long as I'm living in the city... I've never owned or even wished I had a car since I moved to the city when I turned 18.) Would hate to live without... Cell phone Internet ATM/Debit Couldn't live without... Flush toilets Refrigerators Computer (I use Excel once a day to computation. What a pain if I didn't have that.)
  22. Stumbled across a very cool read by a Canadian who went to a few baseball games in Havana recently that's very thorough and engaging. Thought I'd share: http://mopupduty.com/index.php/my-cuban-baseball-experience/
  23. Fixed.
  24. Got it. y = 20 - (((2x-20)^2+100)^.5 - 2x - 20) / 2
