  1. Wasn't there a report out in the last six months that said the Brewers got the most dollar per metro resident out of their fanbase?
  2. He was essentially LARPing. His character had a backstory and then proceeded to go on an adventure over the course of 5 years in which he went from being a protector of the environment to a creature that wanted to wipe out the human race. It thought it was freaking awesome myself.I agree. The evolution of Recyclops was the funny part, not necessarily the end product.
  3. If you count Opening Day 1970 as their "birthday", won't they be turning 40 on opening day 2010? Making this their 41st season.
  4. Bus parking should have been the Quevedo Lot. (Or the Fielder lot if we aren't limited to retired players.)
  5. Awesome "adjective" selection. Through the roof to describe a statistic that can only be between 0 and 1 just struck me as really funny.
  6. Yeah Josh, there are plenty of people here who appreciate the time you take to post on BF.net.
  7. I want Wolf and one (or both) of Sheets or Myers. Just wanted to say that.
  8. I (unfortunately for Craig) think we credit lady luck only. Counsell's LD% actually fell this year, and his FB% increased. That's not good for a career 3.4% HR/FB hitter. He found the gaps a tick more in terms of a tick higher 2B and 3B rate (lucky, because his LD% went down), which increased his SLG slightly. His K rate went down 3.5%, but his BB rate went 6.2%. The big mover was the BABIP, up .029 from his career rate and over .050 from last season. He's quite likely to regress back to where he was the previous three seasons, especially considering he's one year older.
  9. If you guys don't like it, stay out of the thread. I happen to enjoy getting updates from someone involved, as well as having him around to ask questions we couldn't get answers to anywhere else. Everyone is being awfully harsh all of a sudden. Why is the standard for being of use to you so much higher for Josh than other posters? Where's the campaign against Joe Nobody because he provides nothing to you? Josh is one of our best resources, why chase him away? Awfully selfish and pointless.
  10. Nevermind, it kicked in. I'm taking a shower!
  11. Had a party in the basement. Next day, no hot water on any of the three floors of the apartment (separate water heater for each floor), but all three heaters are still running. We get cold water, no hot water. Any ideas? Need more information?
  12. 10:$3.55M, 11:$5.1M, 12:$7.25M club option, 13:$8.25M club option ($0.5M buyout) I like Doumit. If the Pirates view him to be of equal value to Matt Capps, we should be all over it.
  13. He should have BA introduce him as a HOF each broadcast this season.
  14. FoxSports reports the Pirates also offered Doumit for Hardy, but we wanted either Duke or Maholm. LINK.
  15. Is there going to be a round 2 on ordering? I might get in for a few, especially with Christmas approaching.
  16. Looking for a good pancake restaurant near the UW Campus. Southeast side, specifically - I'm on Mifflin St.
  17. Josh, I don't agree with all the posts above, but your take on the subject is completely contradictory to the quotes by Brent in the Scout.com article. By neglecting to address that contradiction, we are left to our imaginations to reconcile it. We couldn't blindly follow your short denial of the article when there was reputable evidence to the contrary. From piecing everything together (you, McClavy, Scout.com), it appears he was considering it as recent as earlier this week, but then you talked with him and at the moment he has decided to stay in baseball. Nobody questions his dedication to whatever endeavor he chooses.
  18. Nice to see. They could have kept him without it being too big a blunder, but freeing up another $5.5 million reaffirms they are at least intending to make some bigger staff changes. Of course, they could be just pooling saved money to make an even bigger blunder... EDIT: My initial reaction is this is a mistake. There going to get a slightly better pitcher for a lot more money, and a longer contract, which should really hurt the Crew. Depends on where that $5.5 million goes. I like it because it gives us some more potential to improve. (As well as potential to get worse, like I mentioned pre-edit...)
  19. The Texan's rookie TE James Casey is another recent guy to make the jump.
  20. There is nothing worse than cramming for a test you need a good grade on about a subject you care zilch about.
  21. Its hard to read to much into the comments because he could have a number of motivations for them. He's either leveraging Lucroy's value to... 1) Trade him. 2) Lower the trade cost of bringing in a veteran. 3) Lower the cost to sign a free agent. 4) Resign Kendall. Its comforting that there's essentially only one wrong decision available to Doug. However, I won't be comfortable until I know for sure option #4 is not being considered.
  22. Ha, I love his request at the end there, that's cool. Wish I had a copy for him, I think I remember the play he's talking about. It was hard not to get caught up in the Rickie Weeks hype at the time, myself, but I had a good friend who just loved Junior Spivey. Authentic jersey and everything, IIRC. Looking back, Junior was a bit under-appreciated (+10 UZR/150 in MIL, nice.) I can't believe he only spent five years in the majors, doesn't seem like he was ready to leave, both from a personal perspective and from his numbers. Surprised he didn't bounce around more after leaving Washington.
  23. Briggs, at age 23, Jason Bourgeois put up a AAA line of .240 / .301 / .317 / .618.
