  1. i like having two open spots right now (removals of munson & vargas). one never knows who's going to be outrighted or released by another team . . . especially right before the sunday roster deadline.
  2. that would be awesome as i'm going to games two & three. looking forward to eating a low-carb burger!
  3. crabbe would already have been outrighted by the padres if he were offered back to the brewers . . . meaning he wouldn't have to take up a spot on the brewers' 40-man roster.
  4. doing so would require purchasing his contract. if his expected stay is to be for a short duration, the brewers would have to outright him all over again by exposing him to waivers and again allowing him the right to declare free agency instead of reporting to nashville. rottino's already on the 40-man roster. he's the likely call-up.
  5. there you have it. your 2008 milwaukee brewers. guillermo mota salomon torres carlos villanueva mike rivera and soon to rejoin the team . . . yovani gallardo bring on the chorizo!
  6. bravo that they appear to be keeping rivera. if they're able to outright munson to the minors, even better.
  7. rivera did catch parra's perfect game. http://www.nashvillesounds.com/stats/default.asp?stats=g_box&gid=2007_06_25_nasaaa_rreaaa_1
  8. i don't know how that's possible without said loser also making the 25-man roster, as both players are out of minor league options. if said player is to remain in the organization, he will have to be outrighted and not claimed by another team.
  9. all of the beer and food vendors at miller park are cursing right now. by my estimates, they've just lost 20% of their income.
  10. well . . . today's release of claudio vargas puts the roster at 39. the brewers certainly have some flexibility if they need to sign or promote someone.
  11. the 40-man roster is currently full. by next week, it's possible to expect any or all of the following: 1. either mike rivera or eric munson is outrighted from the 40-man roster, opening up one spot. 2. chris capuano is placed on or transferred to the 60-day disabled list, opening up one spot. 3. seth mcclung doesn't make the team and is outrighted from the 40-man roster, opening up one spot. 4. abraham nunez is added to the 40-man roster, much like joe dillon was last year, but reports to nashville. one roster spot is opened up for sure when a catching decision is made, and another spot can easily be opened up with capuano's status. any other likely scenarios? if you were doug melvin and gord ash, what would you do with the open spots?
  12. 1. the brewers schedule an all-fan giveaway . . . a bumper sticker that reads "WWBHFD?". it stands for "what would ben hendrickson's father do?" 2. investigative reporters at the journal-sentinel reveal that the sausage races are fixed so the italian always wins whenever mark attanasio visits miller park. 3. after a power drought by prince fielder, kent sommerfeld reintroduces him to meat by serving him a low-carb burger.
  13. if he's going to do a search for threads about him, somebody better tell him to search by "russel" and "branyon".
  14. that matchbox car given to gallardo's kid better not have had an unsafe lead content.
  15. his trial date in ohio was scheduled for last thursday. assuming that trial date wasn't moved, it's safe to assume he's in arizona right now working out in the minor league camp. he could see his first action in a minor league spring training game on saturday.
  16. i don't like that chad moeller has been given privileges equal to russell branyan on this forum.
  17. add guillermo mota, salomon torres, mike rivera and abraham nunez to the mix of potential opening day roster players. and waiting in the wings are alcides escobar, hernan iribarren and ozzie chavez. now i know the real reason we jettisoned johnny estrada.
  18. i guess ned won't be inviting prince on one of his hunting trips next off-season . . .
  19. only a thread about russell branyan would be allowed to remain open in the wrong forum. he's on a minor league deal. he's not invited to major league camp.
  20. unless we can transfer someone to the 60-day disabled list, i'm not sure i'd want to waste a 40-man roster spot on russell branyan to get him on the brewers in september. now if the roster is at 39 or less on september 1st and there's nobody else more deserving, i'm probably okay with it. but if we have to outright a promising player to get russell branyan on the major league roster, i'm against it.
  21. i am shocked that after two-plus pages, only one person has spelled his first name incorrectly and not a single person has spelled his last name incorrectly.
  22. curious if anyone has received email notification yet . . .
  23. think about the american league teams that could be courting ben sheets the free agent later this year: "if you sign with us, you won't have to hit." i'm all for the switch. i want a mariners-brewers rivalry again.
  24. pick up ned yost's 2009 option and then announce it to the media.
  25. What about Gus the dog? Did I hear correctly that he died recently?
