  1. field franks minnesota mystery meat kirby's kasing with kraut sawdust sausage
  2. i realise it's spring training, but the nationals have given up double-digit runs in each of their first three games thus far.
  3. i've been on hold with mlb.com customer service for 15 minutes to resolve this. i want the wtmj feed on gameday audio.
  4. yes . . . but only their content that's been reviewed by their editor(s). unless js policy has changed in the past year, blogs are not reviewed by an editor.
  5. kevin mench, assured an invite to the nationals' big-league camp, was told to report to minor league camp, per espn.

  7. get uecker in a recording booth stat!
  8. it's being repeated over and over: the brewers have six candidates for a five-man rotation. why does it have to be a five-man rotation? i realize that it's typical in the first few weeks (because of off-days) to rely on a four-man rotation and putting the fifth guy in the bullpen. i realize that a six-man rotation would mean fewer starts for the likes of gallardo . . . but that would also keep his innings pitched in check over the long haul. do i expect the brewers to emerge with a six-man rotation? extremely doubtful. but when three of your six are coming off of injuries the previous year, doesn't it make more sense to lighten their workload a little bit? and if any starting pitcher is stinking it up on five days' rest instead of four, it's a sign to cut him loose and revert back to a five-man rotation.
  9. i hope cleveland fans haven't forgotten how to properly spell his name . . .
  10. with ron villone's invitation to big league camp as a non-roster player, the nationals are now tied with the brewers with 17 non-roster invitees. gives me a little bit of ammo when sparring with my friend (a nationals fan).
  11. not a record. 2004 media guide shows 20 non-roster invitees as of 13 february 2004 . . . 8 pitchers, 4 catchers, 6 infielders and 2 outfielders.
  12. i often make fun of the nationals when talking to a good friend. in recent years, they've invited 20 - 30 minor leaguers to big league camp. i criticize his team for not having faith in the 40 players already on the major league roster . . . why else would you give so many additional players a shot at breaking camp on the 25-man? furthermore, with that many players in camp, how can you effectively evaluate all of them? with today's announcement of scott schoeneweis getting an invitation to big league camp, the brewers have 17 non-roster players invited to major league spring training. 17 is the highest i can remember in quite some time. i'm too lazy to dig through old media guides to count the number of non-roster invitees in years past . . . is 17 a record for the brewers? (and much to my chagrin, according to the nationals' website, they only have 15 non-roster invitees thus far.)
  13. from 12:14 am posting from fox sports . . . any insight as to whom and/or what the mariners want?
  14. i've noticed an improvement in the spelling of his name by the masses. i suppose all the coverage he got for his valuable 2009 season helped remind people how to properly spell his name.
  15. so, by my math, with the pending signings of wolf, hawkins and vargas (none of which are official yet, and therefore roster space is still available) and the claim of lofgren, the roster's at 42. counsell makes it 43 if we sign him. lofgren could be traded for a minor leaguer, but one would think the brewers made this move to keep a lhp on their roster.
  16. one would also think that people ordering goods online are not paying use tax on their no-sales tax orders.
  17. if rivera is non-tendered, who on the current roster backs up at first?
  18. that would be the worst thing doug melvin could do.i'd give counsell and/or his agent some meetings, be sure i sent a handwritten thanksgiving card, maybe take them out to a nice eatery for lunch or dinner, try to appeal to counsell's heart by joining him on a volunteer or charity effort, stop by to visit the family, etc. then, after giving him all of that, i'd give him no more than a two-year deal. come on . . . if you can rip chord (get it . . . ripcord?) . . .
  19. that would be the worst thing doug melvin could do.
  20. seeing how eco-conscious prince fielder appears to be, they should name the bicycle racks after the slugger. mass transit pick-up and drop-off spots, commonly called bus stops, would be rechristened bust stops and named after jeffrey hammonds, franklin stubbs and eric gagne. and if grossly overpaid fans ever come to miller park via helicopter, they should land on the jeff suppan helipad.
  21. technically, their birthday was 31 march 1970 . . . in the late hours before midnight. but most recognize april 1, 1970 as the day bud selig learned that he and his investors had acquired the seattle pilots. little known fact: a reporter knew about the deal before selig did. the reporter called selig with the news. some claim that because the mlb milwaukee brewers came to be on april fool's day, they will never win a world series.
  22. for the record, vinny rottino grew up in and still resides (i believe) in racine. joe mauer grew up in and still resides (i believe) in st. paul.
  23. will billy hall's improved vision increase his chances avoiding a smack in the face by a teammate's batting helmet?
