  1. "cards coming postage due" . . . man, how have i missed uecker.
  2. how about having him serve as dh as the brewers try to sweep the angels? i can understand how the brewers didn't have an alternate at first base in minneapolis, but with edmonds back, prince should have gotten more games in as the designated hitter.
  3. i have no idea which player will be sent packing to make room for coffey. assuming another pitcher isn't "conveniently" injured, the brewers will likely lose the rights to whomever they cut i'm nearly certain that if the brewers try to remove chris capuano, chris smith or kameron loe from the roster that any of them can refuse the minor league assignment and become a free agent. trevor hoffman could be released. john axford could be optioned, but that's unlikely. in order for the brewers to preserve pitching depth, it looks like zach braddock will be on the hot seat in the coming days. fortunately, he can be optioned to preserve depth.
  4. those are the only triple plays i've witnessed. i've also been on hand for dave winfield's 3000th hit and for scott erickson's no-hitter against the brewers. i also was around for the edwin nunez sucker punch.
  5. i'm trying to remember the last time the brewers were severely handcuffed by injuries . . . having randy wolf pinch hit today with the game on the line was a huge wake-up call . . . and thankfully, it prompted the brewers to disable gerut and return stern. the only instance i can think of is the final days of the 2008 season . . . sheets and kapler went down. we'd lost another pitcher (parra?) as well. and then we lost weeks. were there others unavailable? i consider this a severe handcuffing for a number of reasons: 1. when we needed an outfielder, the only outfielder on the 40-man (cain) was out with an injury and we gave up our 40th spot to stern. 2. when we needed a catcher, the only catcher on the 40-man (salome) was out with personal issues and we lost even more roster flexibility by purchasing lucroy's contract. 3. when we moved riske and gamel to the 60-day disabled list, they both had already started their minor league rehab assignments . . . meaning their tenures off the 40-man roster will be short-lived. 4. while not directly related to injuries, we've been playing with one less position player than what we're used to. 5. when playing at target field, we were unable to rest fielder by allowing him to dh. again, aside from the end of 2008, i can't recall any other time the brewers have been at less than full strength. memories, anybody?
  6. in keeping with the original thread title, what kind of bunter is brent brewer? that's what i thought this thread was about.
  7. did any broadcasters offer any insight on inglett's injury?
  8. what's the update on inglett? i'm assuming they don't plan on backdating a disabled list assignment . . .
  9. whenever a team makes a waiver claim, they reserve the right to see his medical records, no? what's going on with salome is obviously a matter that should be kept private from the fans, but would not inquiring mlb personnel be able to have access to salome's medical records prior to claiming him? what i'm getting at is that if salome's condition is not promising, and that information is shared with other clubs, would that not serve as a deterrent to claiming him?
  10. technically, don't they have until 7:00 pm tomorrow?
  11. so . . . with the injury to zaun, and the fact that both braddock and lucroy are not on the 40-man roster, do you risk outrighting salome to the minor leagues to clear a spot on the 40-man roster? provided another team doesn't claim him, he has to accept the assignment, right?
  12. what's going on with big pappi? seeing how things are now with the brewers, would they want to take a chance on him?
  13. i stepped outside at 9:00 last night in shorts and a t-shirt and sat on my steps just to gauge how i felt being outdoors in those temperatures. having left wisconsin over a decade ago, it's been quite some time since i've been to evening outdoor baseball in the midwest. despite the struggles of the team, i'm overly excited to see the brewers in a couple days. and . . . i just may wear shorts to the game.
  14. how do you clear the roster spot for lucroy? somebody on the 40-man has to be removed, and it doesn't appear that any player on the 15-day disabled list can be transferred to the 60-day disabled list (unless the injuries to edmonds and hawkins are more severe than we thought).
  15. considering that your only available options on the 40-man roster are lorenzo cain, luis cruz and adam heether, i agree.
  16. assuming adam stern is optioned down when carlos gomez is activated, who is the dh for the upcoming series against the twins? knowing that pitchers will not have to bat for three games, will the brewers revert to a 12-man pitching staff? it would have been ideal for prince fielder to dh with jim edmonds to play first, just to give fielder a little breather. now, it appears that prince will not be able to dh at all this weekend. crazy idea if the brewers stick with a 13-man pitching staff . . . what are the odds of yovani gallardo serving as dh for a game or two?
  17. i'm all for it if it's in an american league park and suppan doesn't have to hit. but seeing that i'm going to two brewers games in an american league park this weekend, i hope it doesn't happen then.
  18. nice to see scott "the first 'd' is silent" podsednik reunited with ned . . .
  19. assuming it's the brewers' ken sanders, mr. sanders is a real estate consultant overseeing the sale of the "field of dreams". . .
  20. assuming it's the brewers' ken sanders, mr. sanders is a real estate consultant overseeing the sale of the "field of dreams". . .
  21. corey patterson had his contract purchased from aaa by the baltimore orioles.
  22. corey patterson had his contract purchased from aaa by the baltimore orioles.
  23. dang. i was hoping that 40th roster spot would be awarded to braddock or lucroy, and that for the time being, we could pull from the other 14 players on the major league roster. stern's not a bad 15th addition. what happens when they no longer want stern on the 25-man? option(s)? able to outright? is he able to elect free agency if outrighted?
