  1. Looks like Chicken Little season started early this year...
  2. Random thoughts from the game today. 1. I never liked Macha's appointment at the time, and now he's really beginning to annoy me - for all the reasons mentioned in this thread. There would have been a half dozen anti-Yost threads by now if he'd pulled those moves (or lack of thereof)... 2. Jim Edmonds. Nope, the mere sight of him in a Brewers uni knowing that I have images of him burned on my retinas in both Cubs and Cards unis makes me gag. Then he leaves half of the population of Belgium on base all afternoon. Biased? Guilty as charged, but I don't care. 3. Drunken chick quotient seemed down from previous years. Either this means we are attracting fewer amateurs, or, as Darwin promised, the state's young ladies are evolving into better drinkers. You decide. 4. Gomez and Weeks are scary fast and should do some real damage on the basepaths this year. 5. Coffey even sprinted out to do the opening high fives. Bravo, sir, bravo! 6. Tiny booing for Hart and a little more for Soup. The fans have spoken and this season's scapegoats are... 7. Loudest roars during announcements for obvious choices Braun, Fielder and Hoffman, and less obvious ones like McGehee and Coffey. 8. I have sunburned knees. It's Wisconsin in April so there's basically gonna be no complaints from this fan! 9. I have to find a way to not get Stadium Sauce all over my touchscreen HTC if I want to do in-game updates!
  3. Alex Sanchez - that was the day I became a Brewers fan!
  4. So, "no interest in going to the minors with the Brewers" changes to "yes, please" with the Red Sox minors in only a few days.
  5. He hasn't been a mercenary at all. He played 7 seasons with California/Anaheim, then 8 with St. Louis. He then got traded by St. Louis to San Diego, released by San Diego, and signed by Chicago. I wasn't referring to his career, I was referring to right now...
  6. I sincerely hope Jim Edmonds doesn't make the team. I've never liked him throughout his career, and nothing about his time here in Milwaukee says "savvy veteran aims to put his experience to use to help a young team". He seems very mercenary, and these latest comments are designed to put pressure on the Crew to play him regularly. I say we be the good guys and cut bait so that he can spend the idyllic fairytale summer he seems to want, with his family.
  7. How many catchers do Texas need? At last count they were already struggling to find spots for Salty, Max Ramirez and Taylor Teagarden!
  8. Those glass houses in San Fran must be mighty impervious to stones, is all I'm thinking!
  9. Was I the only one hoping that it was a Pirates fan injured, so that Randal Simon's attack on our wiener could be avenged after all these years?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Hey, it works for the Harlem Globetrotters!
  11. I may be in the minority, in that I'm going to stick up for Corey. He played the game by the rules that exist, he didn't try to find loopholes or "cheat" the system. The "what have you done for me lately" schtick that pervades sports fans gets really old sometimes, and I guarantee many deriding Hart for this episode were the same ones championing his promotion from the minors only a couple years ago. For the record, I firmly believe Hart's stats in 2010 will be at least equal to, if not better, than Cameron's in Boston.
  12. I'm delighted, both that Benny hasn't gone to one of the hated top 5, and that it puts to rest all the "we should sign Sheets" talk here at BF.net.
  13. Deadspin link Washington Post link Maybe Arenas is slightly less scummy than previously thought? Nope, handguns in a locker room. Still a tool.
  14. Off the juice, I doubt he's hitting to Big Mac land anytime soon! Big Skip Schumaker Land doesn't have the same ring!
  15. Am I the only one who thinks that Corey Hart's 2009 season was an anomaly? I really believe that he'll be the 20/20 guy (maybe even 25/25) some thought he might be before his 2009 swoon and injuries.
  16. Everyone's a power hitter in Wrigley!
  17. This isn't fantasy baseball. Maybe DM DID offer all that you said, and the Braves went, "nah, we prefer Melky and the rest, thanks". What are you gonna do when the other side doesn't value your player as much as it values another team's guy? YOUR opinion is that Hart is a better player than Cabrera. Obviously Atlanta disagrees...
  18. Clock on "Brewers should have signed him" starting in 3....2....1......
  19. The Temple Bar area is pretty fun too, with all the street performers and bars with local musicians hamming it up for tourists and locals alike!
  20. The arguments regarding Bud Selig always remind me of a line from Monty Python's Life of Brian. "All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?"
  21. This is Milwaukee - I've seen people at the theater in Blaze Orange! Seriously, though, be comfortable - or be traumatized by the "experience" of going to a musical by all the baggage surrounding it! You can definitely wear jeans - I'd maybe draw the line at paint-spattered work jeans - but this isn't opera at the Metropolitan in New York. Be comfortable, dress in what you feel you'd wear to go out to a movie with your wife, indeed, it's a date night with your wife, so you wouldn't go out in public looking scuzzy with her would you. Enjoy Rent and have somewhere cheery to go afterwards - you'll need it!
  22. FTA: *sniff* "I'm hungry and I don't know why!"
  23. And yet you have to do a ridiculous amount of DWIs before you get jail time in Wisconsin. What's wrong with this picture?
  24. Wouldn't it be funny if every interview with the media starts with "so Mark, about those steroids...."
  25. I have a Honda Element, and I love it. I have a DJ business so need something with a lot of cargo room - which it has in spades. I get about mid 20s gas mileage unless I have a week where I never leave the city, and it's a couple lower. It has real time AWD so it's in 2 wheel drive mode until it feels a loss of traction then the 4WD kicks in, so last Winter was a breeze for it. Plus it's a Honda, so really reliable, and the styling is a lot of fun - big orange ice cream van comments, notwithstanding! Add on the iPod dock, XM Radio, rubber floors for easy cleaning and I'm a happy boy!
