  1. Seriously, these IGTs are difficult to read sometimes, between the interminable complaints about the lineup and the pitch count moans. I know it's been a while since we were competitive, people, but if we can't zip the gripes when we go 20-7 in August, are on course to make the playoffs and have just watched one of the most dominantly pitched games in Brewer history, what's up?
  2. Crap crap crap crap crap Crap crap crappity crap crap Looks like I jinxed him...
  3. Are the Pirates mad You don't walk Prince to get to Man crush Corey Hart
  4. Am I mistaken Or does Ryan Braun look like Joe DiMaggio?
  5. How about we say That Yost is a genius Unless he's a dolt?
  6. Eric Gagne back Doesn't miss his wife's strike zone Baby number 4
  7. Brewers defend worse Than the French infantry did In 1940
  8. "Lovable Losers" is at least 50% correct.
  9. Nice play JJ! And does it annoy anyone else the way Pujols does that "tongue-out" thing he does?
  10. Here's the thing I don't understand. We encourage "fair play" and "everyone wins really", all the while protecting from failure. Then, at some point, this changes. When does it change? I don't know, but I know that "this is America, there has to be a winner and a loser" is prevalent. Heck, there are STILL people with their panties in a bunch about the tie in the All-Star Game in 02. Mixed messages? You be the judge...
  11. Oh well, this one's ovah already. At least I don't waste any more of my night looking at updates. 5 games back.
  12. Lots of my faves already mentioned. Here are a few others. Bubbles (The Wire) Danny Wilde (The Persuaders) Quagmire (Family Guy) Baldrick (Blackadder) Roz (Frasier) Anastasia Beaverhausen (Will and Grace) Fes (That 70s Show) Niles Crane (Frasier) The Todd (Scrubs)
  13. If Hardy didn't possess the speed of a sleepy Johnny Estrada, he makes it to 3rd and we aren't having this debate!
  14. So the ERA over 7 at the start of the year when his control was all over the place was a result of what? Underuse? C'mon, we've set such a high bar for him that anything approaching what every other pitcher goes through is regarded as weakness and needs to be justified somehow. As for not having anyone warming up, Guillermo Mota says hi. It was dumb? Relax, Francis. Dude's the size of a sequoia and I doubt whether 110 pitches (his usual) compared to the 130 of last night is gonna break him. Everyone whining keeps saying "he wore down in the playoffs last year". No he didn't. He pitched worse in the playoffs. Whether that has to do with wearing down, or, hey, the myriad other reasons why athletes don't perform to their potential is pure conjecture at this point. I'd be more worried that Sheets sees that mythical 12 wins barrier about the size of the Great Wall of China and has pitched poorly lately. Maybe he's mentally wearing down from the strain of getting to 13 wins. Maybe Ned needs to give him some mental time off. That's it, it's Ned's fault for not giving Sheets time off...
  15. I'm disgusted. This is simply unacceptable. Ridiculous also comes to mind. I mean, have you ever seen such overreaction in all your life? I tell you, heads will roll for this...
  16. I've never known such a large group of people become medical experts in one night since that record Harvard Med School Graduation Class of '53...
  17. It's not a question of dropping the points if you contest. Just because you contest doesn't mean you win the case. They'll usually drop points even if you don't contest. However, the act of going to court shows contrition and is (they hope) a deterrent to doing the offense again. Bottom line, unless you are in a job where you absolutely cannot attend the court date, go to court and plead no contest. If you contest the charge you'll have to come back for the follow up case where you'll have to have all your legal ducks in a row (and by the sound of it, you were in the wrong anyway). Ignorance of the law is no defense, so I wouldn't go down that route. Just say that you've learned your lesson and you'll be more vigilant in future and ask for either a smaller fine, or fewer (or no) points. You'll get the reduced penalty, I guarantee it.
  18. Personally, I believe any sport where there is an element of subjectivity (gymnastics, boxing, diving, skating, etc.) should not be in the olympics. The olympic motto translates as "Faster, Higher, Stronger", not "Prettier, Less Splashier, More Graceful-ier". Some may moan about home bias, but it happens all the time. If memory serves, there was an outcry about an Italian boxer, in LA in 84, who "lost" his final to a US boxer (might have been Biggs), despite having dominated the entire fight. And was Mary Lou Retton absolutely the best gymnast in 1984?
  19. Here's how it plays out, IMO. Cubs relentlessly plod along to a division title. Brewers draft in their wake to get the wild card. Cubs meet D'Backs (which scares Cubfans silly, believe me) with similar results to last year. Brewers and Phillies meet. Brewers squeak it in 5. Brewers lose to Webb twice, but beat Haren and Randy Johnson (on 4 McClung homers!), narrowly winning the series. Brewers lose against whatever behemoth the AL throws up. So close, so very very close...
  20. Hands down, best game of the year! Holy moley! i mean....jeeeeez wow defibrilator please Can I request a really boring blowout tomorrow, I'm not sure the heart can take it.
  21. Hmmmm, how can we make Shouse walking Ethier to be Ned's fault? Hmmmm....
  22. Nay nay and thrice nay. For three simple reasons. 1. Any song that can sneak a subversive, sweet "pissing the night away" onto Top 40 radio deserves praise. 2. Homer Simpson: "I drink a whiskey drink, I drink a chocolate drink, and when I need to pee, I use the kitchen sink". 3. Chumbawamba have members named Danbert Nobacon and Alice Nutter. Take that, Chad Kroeger!
  23. Those are some outstanding nicknames. Where did you come up with them? I started cracking up when I read that. I'm going to have to agree with the Cubs fan here... we can be more witty than that. Really? Over at NSBB, Fielder is "Fatty". Ours are like Oscar Wilde compared to that!
  24. It's a bit unfair to single out ELCABALLO. There's a quota for Yost complaints in the IGT. He's just doing his part. My bad, I was just under the impression from reading threads this week that hitting Counsell anywhere in the lineup was the stupidest thing done by any manager ever.
  25. Oh, behave. Do you think about what you are posting or do you have a "random Yost complaint" button on your PC?
