  1. After all the nonsense with the Cards this year - LaRussa's usual guff, untuckemgate, and the obvious hatred that baseball Jesus has for Milwaukee's finest, I'm taking an immense amount of glee from the 3 and done effort from St. Louis. Does that make me a bad person?
  2. I hope they untuck, tuck them back in again, then untuckem while Prince jumps up and everyone falls over, laughing hysterically. Does that make me a child?
  3. No, no, don't leave, classiest fans in baseball - this could still get interesting!
  4. Just when you think the season can't provide you with any more joy, along comes an inning with a bunch of silly little hits, wild pitches, errors and an owie for baseball Jesus! Small mercies, I tell you!
  5. Any suggestion that the boys wouldn't REALLY like to beat the Cards disappeared with that DP! Wow!
  6. Booing? Must be some Brewer fans with no sense of occasion.
  7. Chicago knocked out in the first round? Did they send the Cubs to represent us?
  8. Or if he had pitches tipped, to be able to hit the pitch he knew was coming!
  9. And you still avoided saying "boom, goes the dynamite". I applaud you, sir!
  10. But, hey, the health system works just fine, and you'd be a liar and a communist to suggest otherwise. C'mon, Doug, make the call - it's not like Kendall's coming back anyway!
  11. 1. Finish .500 or better 2. Finish ahead of the Cubs 3. Fire Macha and replace him with anyone who's not one of the undead. 4. McGehee wins ROY and hits 20 HRs 5. Braun hits at least 30 HRs 6. Prince hits at least .300 7. Corey Hart recovers to be the player we know he can be (I still want him as part of our future going forward) 8. Milton Bradley announces he plans to stay and play out his contract, every second of it, with the Cubs!
  12. Every time I go to Wrigley, I'm reminded of the fact that "history" smells a lot like beer, urine and vomit...
  13. I had no idea that Eeyore was a Brewerfan. Lighten up will ya? Team chemistry is just important as anything else, IMO. Sure it hasn't been a great season, for a number of reasons, but that doesn't mean you can't find joy where you can get it.
  14. Macha is a joke manager - and all the naysayers from last year who said "how much worse could Yost's replacement be?" have found out in the worst way. Unfortunately the only way we get rid of Macha is if Melvin gets canned too, which I wouldn't want. At least Yost stuck up for his guys. What does Macha's opinion of the HR celebration from Sunday relate to his players? "Hey, I'm with you, but I'm not actually WITH you"...
  15. I know they say that rationalization is the second strongest human urge, but come on! Millions of us have had jobs with colleagues who drive you to improve yourself, so why should ballplayers be any different? Are you on speaking terms with JJ and he admitted this, or is it another example of opinion, presented as fact that we see so much? JJ has underperformed, and the new "Higher Fan Expectation Brewers" had to do something about it whereas the "Warm and Fuzzy, Just Happy To Finish 4th in the Division Brewers" of 2004, might have treated him differently. This whole situation has created some major dilemmas for some here. You can't have a winner's mindset and a small-market, everyone's family here, mindset without causing some conflict IMO. As a Hardy fan, I'd prefer him to think "Escobar's not getting my job, let the Brewers trade HIM", by playing like the player we know he can be. He's also the slowest non-chunky guy I think I've ever seen, which is maybe something he could work on, if, as he claims, his arms are feeling the brunt of all these extra cuts he's been taking.
  16. Glasvegas, I'm guessing? Do you have any problems with the accent, because it's very thick? Anyways, my random thought is this. What happened to butterflies? When I was growing up every garden had them - now it's like seeing a unicorn in my yard!
  17. I'd love to know (out of a weird sense of curiosity, not as a stick to beat anyone with), how many people who are magnificent at being frugal with the monthly budget, buy the wayyy overpriced beer at Miller Park? Does the superb budgeting also apply to ballpark concessions too, or are they regarded as a necessary evil?
  18. I'm sorry, but if you believe that the Brewers could have matched the Yankees offer, then you're in a fantasy world. Never mind the SHOULD we try to match their offer question. As for Peavy, his no-trade clause was never likely to have been revoked to come to the Crew. Notwithstanding the fact that I'd have loved to have either. Heck, since we are dreaming of could-have-beens, let's pretend we got BOTH of them and throw that idyllic scenario around our noggins for a while!
  19. That's an interesting point, but I'd rather watch bad baseball than good football...
  20. Can Bill Hall pitch for Seattle?
  21. 2 weeks ago - "Good riddance - he's a bum. If we get a bag of balls for him I'm happy"! Today - "What? Have they forgotten his 35 homers? The man's a stud, for pete's sake". I mean, did anyone honestly think we'd get a Harang/Arroyo for Bill Hall? Cincy might be stupid, but they're not crazy! "Hey, Walt, how 'bout, no, hear me out here, buddy. How 'bout you take Bill Hall - you know how much he's hurt you in the past, and we get, oh, I don't know, some scrub pitcher, like, maybe that funny-face Harang guy? Then - and this is the part you'll like - you keep paying for Harang and we'll let you pay Bill Hall's salary also, cos we like you?"
  22. Wouldn't that make him an "eh"-ore? Nice......and that.
  23. Is it just me or does DM sound like a Canadian Eeyore at this point?
  24. My Top 5 from the weekend. 1. Band of Horses 2. Kaiser Chiefs 3. Friendly Fires 4. TV on the Radio 5. Depeche Mode
  25. Oh, don't worry, if I know Perry, he'll pop up in at least half a dozen other setlists over the weekend. Last time Thievery were there he sang the collaboration from The Cosmic Game he did with them. Perry's a %$$# - he'll perform with everyone! Looking forward to it hugely - I think it's a nicely balanced lineup. Pissed at missing the Beasties, but the new YYY album is decent, so we'll see! Brits White Lies and Friendly Fires will make a few new fans this weekend, I'm predicting. As for weather, the 109 degrees we got in 05 means I'm ready for anything!
