  1. Jason Kendall homeruns to count double.
  2. A couple of things bug me that haven't been mentioned (although I'm down with 32 teams in 8 divisions and no DH). If a pitcher makes an error why does his ERA not reflect this? I mean, I get that it's unfair that Rickie should airmail one into the stands and it go on the pitcher's numbers, but if the pitcher makes the error shouldn't his numbers suffer? There should be independent scorers for every game. Some of the homerism (Kapler's non-hit last night for instance) to protect pitcher's stats (or those dodgy "hits" when a guy is on a streak) is frankly ludicrous.
  3. To win the WS you have to make the playoffs, so that's the order I'm shooting for.
  4. But what about the tie in the All Star Game? I mean, think of the children!
  5. The best places for me (in no particular order) Corfu - sights, smells and sounds like few other places can match. Stunning. Edinburgh - I lived there for 12 years and, especially around Fringe time in August miss it like crazy. St.Tropez - Lambos driving slowly round cobbled streets, designer boutiques with nothing I could afford and Tony Curtis on an 80ft motor yacht (I can't promise you'll see Tony Curtis, though!). Gibraltar - Just a surreal place, and hey, look, that's Africa right across the straits! Memphis - Sun Studios, Graceland, Beale Street and The Civil Rights Museum. Holy crap! Lake Geneva, WI and Lake Geneva, Switzerland. Both are fabulous (and very clean!) North Wales - 12th Century castles, railways up the sides of mountains and some of the best beaches I've ever seen (seriously!). Plus the Welsh are celts, which automatically makes them friendly as all heck. Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley, CA. Rich people are occasionally smart. They know where good places are to hang out. Oh, and that big music festival kicks ass too! Miller Park. Every single time I walk through the doors my heart just soars. I love the place.
  6. I'd have: 80's British Music Capital Cities Ridley Scott Movies Brewers Before and After ("what is - Prince Fielder's Choice, Alex") Aston Martin Tiramisu
  7. I'm a big guy. My favorite sports team other than the Crew is Aberdeen FC (aka Reds) High School nickname Robbo. Hence BigRedRobbo
  8. I'd say there was an abundance of gritty battleritude on display today!
  9. But you'd think Counsell went 0 for 20, made 7 errors and took a machete to the Polish Sausage!
  10. are you watching this game? defensively, he's solid, and while I have no problem with him taking up a roster spot on this team to be used as a late inning defensive replacement in the middle infield/spot starter to give regulars breaks, he should NOT be taking ABs away from Branyan by starting at third against righties. I'm not claiming that Counsell is the second coming of Mike Schmidt fer chrissakes, just that the "OMGz, Counsell Sucks" posts ad nauseum are getting old. Okay, you don't agree he should be playing - fair enough. Move along. We sound like Cubs fans railing on Neifi all the time...
  11. According to the rest of this thread, Counsell is not much above Little League level, so you'd have to figure most of the Nationals to be better than him...
  12. I'd take Zimmerman in a heartbeat. He's better than this season's stats suggest.
  13. I love how disrespectful we are of the Nationals, conveniently forgetting how much we hated it when we were in their position.
  14. Yeah, but against the Nats that's the equivalent of being DOWN 3-1
  15. Okay we get it, Counsell sucks! Jeez, some here are like a dog with a freakin' bone...
  16. Yeah, because the "come and get me, I haven't retired" line was all about the Giants and Dodgers...
  17. There was an element of fooling around, but very definitely a "Bonds Agenda" in there too.
  18. Don't we at least have a pic of CC in Brewers gear to display? That would never have happened on Woogie's watch! J/K Wibadgers23. Great job on the stats!
  19. I'm sick to the back teeth of 20 posts immediately following the announcement of the lineup which have "I hate Yost" or "why is/isn't so-and-so playing?". Games in which we invariably go on to win. Show me a manager that doesn't change the lineup and I'll show you a bar softball team with 10 players...
  20. This thread is useless without photographs! My 4. 1. Jennifer Connelly (in the Hot Spot) 2. Salma Hayek 3. Christina Ricci 4. Kari Byron (from Mythbusters)
  21. I want the Cubs to lose every game this weekend. And every game the following week. And all the games until the end of the season. For eternity.
  22. Of course Cubs fans will get as many tickets as before in the event we make the playoffs. Haven't we established that money is a persuasive debater when it comes to fan attendance?
  23. Definatly Not? (sic) Wow, can I have that in writing? It'll save a lot of time in August and September knowing that going in...
  24. Actually that's 8 steps forward and 6 steps back, but thanks for playing. Last time I checked, that math comes to + 2 games. Never heard a peep from you about Yost during the 7-0 roadtrip.
