  1. I think the phrase "be careful what you wish for" came to mind at the moment when I heard about this news.
  2. Correct, TLB. Based on the general concensus of posts, the players tend to get more of a free ride if they are one of the good guys, and ridden harder if they are among the bad guys. Sure, there will be deviations from the norm, but I think I mostly got it right. I'll include DM/FO in the good guys and put Maddux on the bubble if it helps. My point (or at least the impetus for the post), was to see if any of the designated whipping boys on the bad guys list can ever expect to be judged fairly, or if they are forever doomed to be locked outside the Brewerfan lovefests that the likes of Yo and Billy Hall get. Let's run the list again in October (November?) and see who moves!
  3. Although, interestingly, the Bad Guys list tends to stay the same, even when we win!
  4. As I see it, most of Brewerfan.net seems to have fairly rigid demarcation lines as to the good guys and bad guys on the team. Most of the opinions expressed seem to be flavored by which side of the line these guys are on. Good Guys Prince Braun Hart Hall Yo Carlos V Weeks JJ Simba Ed Sedar Gross Crazy Joe D Rottino Rivera Riske Dillard Parra Stetter Bad Guys Counsell Gagne McClung Vargas Yost Sveum Nix Kapler Cameron Kendall Munson Choate Turnbow Mota Zach Jack Soup Capuano (although he's now getting pity points) Bubble Boys Bush TGJ Torres Sheets Shouse ....and of course the ultimate polarizing player, Russell the Muscle. Am I wrong?
  5. First? Hardly. There's one of those ticket machines like you get at the Post Office and you have ticket number 246, my friend. Let's just see how some of the lineup changes do before we all starting playing at Chicken Little. Just maybe, people who post on internet message boards don't actually know everything there is to know about the game...
  6. Regarding some of the comments that have arisen in Brewerland about this injury, I am seriously ashamed that some of these fanatics follow the same ballclub that I do... Get better Cappy, you're a good guy who could use a break.
  7. Here are my 3 boldish predictions. Tampa Bay will finish above the Yankees in the AL East Rickie Weeks will have a 30/30 season The Brewers will lose in the World Series to the Tigers
  8. Woogie, the awesomeness of your graphics never ceases to amaze me. And finding pictures of Peavy and the Bushster with identical throwing actions and facial expressions - now that's just genius!
  9. This is a critical day after not winning yesterday!
  10. It's interesting that he disses Myers. I have a simple draft policy for Fantasy Baseball: No Yankees, No Cubs, No Brett Myers. I just can't will any of them to do well!
  11. In an auction league, the extra closer you don't need could be really useful trade bait down the line for someone you do need. Plus, if the Cubs do pick up Roberts, The Riot could spend half the year on the bench. I'd pull the trigger on this one, if it were me.
  12. Probably closer to 1720's to 1750's, given the inclusion of the British Navy (Britain didn't exist until the 1700s), and some of the weaponry which dates from the mid 1700s or so.
  13. I'm not worried about the Cards. This signing just means they might not finish last.
  14. We need the season to start now so that non-issues like this don't generate 3 pages of posts...
  15. What I believe we have here is a panties/bundle interface scenario So the Yankees let a guy with no "right" to be on a baseball field take one AB. The Brewers gave Trent Durrington a whole season on the team!
  16. Here are the guys I think are about to have great years. Kevin Kouzmanoff Matt Garza Dustin McGowan Alex Gordon Jair Jurrjens Joey Votto (if Dusty plays him) JR Towles Jeff Francouer Jarrod Saltalamacchia Chase Headley
  17. It doesn't matter because he wasn't 260 last year and he isn't 270 this year. There are many numbers I care about regarding Prince, and as long as those stay healthy I'm not worried what it says on the back of a baseball card...
  18. The fact that Cubs fans loathe Braun suggests to me that he's doing something right!
  19. Maybe he'll remember that day when contract negotiation time comes around! ;-)
  20. Prince has stated, often, that Boras takes care of the money side of things. It's not Prince's decision to make and IMO, $70m over 6 is at least $30m shy of where Boras sees Prince's value. (pared back long nested quote --1992)
  21. Underrated? This bunch... Elbow. How this band isn't as successful as U2 is completely beyond me in every way. Hot tea with milk and sugar. Forget your fancy schmancy 'erbal varieties, Tetleys with milk is the real deal. McRibs. They obviously can't be that popular or McDonalds would offer them all the time. Cream Soda. The king of sodas. Nurses. They need to get paid more, and drug companies should make sure it happens. John Cusack. Where's his Oscar, Hollywood? Freaks and Geeks. Where Seth Rogen started out. Criminally underrated. Wedding DJs. Apparently helping people have a wonderful time on the biggest day of their lives makes you a less authentic DJ than playing faceless, nameless vinyl to people who'll dance to anything with a beat. Bill Hicks. The man couldn't get arrested in the US and had to rely on Brits to get his genius. Ska. The real stuff, not No $%@*!' Doubt African Hut. Please open somewhere else, guys. I miss your Zanzi Fries... Sports Night. It's not in syndication anywhere, yet apparently Everyone just Loves Raymond... Dissent with your government (whomever they may be). Apparently that makes you the enemy. Google Maps. Mapquest, but good. The NL Central. Not nearly the talent void that ESPN would have us believe.
  22. Ron Mael from Sparks!
  23. Buck already goes to Cards games as a fan. They just pay him to speak in a microphone at the same time!
