  1. I think the MLB and Players Union needs to acknowledge that Fantasy Baseball is at least partly responsible for the increasing interest in the game, and, more importantly, on the Cult of Personality that surrounds players these days. Sure, there have always been superstars, but IMO many many more guys get recognized (and paid well) than previously because of the Fantasy Industry keeping people updated on their progress.
  2. I'm most impressed by the fact that the OP knew the word was "dominant" and not "dominate" as it crops up in about 50% of posts that use the word!
  3. Aw, man, the "B" Team lineup is going tonight! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. Snakes! Why'd it hafta be snakes?
  5. This amazes you? really? The vast majority of Harley riders in the state don't wear helmets, so why should cyclists be any different?
  6. Voting 25 times for Brewers players (that have no chance of getting in) is a half hour of my life that I'm not getting back. The AS Game is something that I have just the hardest time getting excited about - all the big city teams' players voted on in the huge popularity contest. Last year was an anomaly for the Crew, because of their ridiculously hot start, so maybe we need a few guys to have days off rather than traipsing over to the media circus in Yankee Stadium. I mean, playing last year didn't exactly translate into post AS Game success for the Brewers, did it?
  7. One thing that has to be stated is that if Torres could have coughed up a blown save but for some great defense, then Gagne needs to get credit for not being at fault when BAD defense cost him saves. I'm not advocating for Gagne as closer per se, just pointing out that the good/bad defense/luck argument works both ways. That said, I'll take whomever helps this team win, even if it were Tavarez or T-Bow. If the Crew is in a save situation today, my money's on Leatherface.
  8. I think Berman is fantastic on every single NFL show. Because I don't watch any NFL shows... The man is beyond annoying IMO. I'd like to take him to one of those tall bluffs and advise him to go "back, back, back, back, back...."
  9. Never mind cycling etiquette, what staggers me is the almost complete lack of visibility most cyclists I come across have when it's dark. Look, bud, riding a black bike, while dressed all in black with only a tiny red light (if at all) does not make it easy for me to avoid running my half ton of steel over you. Try, oh I don't know, a reflective strip, or better yet, wear a color that actually doesn't camouflage you with the buildings! I'm just sayin'...
  10. That was one of Bush's best pitching performances, especially after giving up 2 early HRs. So that's Santana, Penny, Zambrano, Hamels, Hudson and Wainwright we've taken care of this year. We just need to stop sucking against scrubs and we might get somewhere!
  11. Hey, a managerial decision to sit a guy who isn't producing fires him up enough to remember he's a big leaguer. Whoda thunk it? Now, how can we spin it to discredit Yost...
  12. Doesn't Tavarez look like a guy whose face went on fire and someone put it out with a golf shoe?
  13. I was golfing this morning and thought how much I'd rather be driving a boat into that wind than a golf ball!
  14. Today is the turning point game. We come back to win in the 9th and start the charge back up the division. Please...
  15. Let's get one thing straight. Regardless of every other argument the above statement is wrong. Ned being a "bad manager" is not fact, it's opinion. That it is many people on Brewerfan.net's opinion doesn't make it any nearer to fact.
  16. I once played at a table with one other (very drunk) female player. She took cards when she shouldn't have, such as hitting on 19, and on one occasion standing on soft 14. I don't think I ever won as much in a 1 hour period playing BJ as I did that night! It is hard (especially when you are losing or getting crap luck) not to be annoyed with this kind of play normally though. We sometimes forget we have the power to cash in and move to another table if it REALLY begins to get frustrating. That's why I like Hold 'Em, Craps and Roulette more I guess. Less chances for others to screw you up!
  17. I'm dying to know what other reason a 25 year old man would have for behaving so recklessly stupidly. A bet, maybe, but other than that, nah, pretty much booze FTW.
  18. I go by the simple adage. If something seems too good to be true - it usually is.
  19. This is one of the best posts ever on this site - great job, bud. I agree 100%. It's a telling development that the supposed managerial genius that is Piniella has a sizeable and growing vocal element in Cubland that has started to question some of the moves he makes. Moves that, we were told, really good managers don't make. I honestly don't believe a change in the Crew's management mid-season will make any difference, but, come October, if the Brewers aren't involved in the postseason, IMO Yost is toast.
  20. Didn't Jennifer Hudson win an Oscar for her role in Dream Girls?
  21. Are you kidding? He's still as skinny as he was in Purple Rain. Sheesh!
  22. Adam Carolla is one of those guys that just makes me want to set fire to his face and put out the fire with a golf shoe.
  23. Do not, under any circumstances, miss either Gomez or Polyphonic Spree live. Both are nuggets. Just go - you'll thank me later!
  24. Make your mind up, which is it? The players are not good enough or they are good enough and it's all Yost's fault they are underperforming. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  25. Apparently the next promo at Miller Park is pitchforks and flaming torches for the first 20,000 fans.
