  1. Eh if we only have one lefty now, we might as well just trade Fielder and stick Carlos at 1st. Carlos couldn't be any worse defensively and he did have .930 OPS against righties last year and .855 over his career I am only 1/2 joking.
  2. I would seriously love a Beltre/Hardy left side of the infield and some combination of Hart, Beltre, Braun, and Fielder is certianly a formidable 3-6. It all depends on what the Mariners would want. They are also shopping Putz so I wonder if a Hall, Gillespie, Brewer for Putz & Beltre would work if we take on all salary? If the Crew were to do that I would imagine that Cameron/Sheets would probably be good as gone and it certianly doesn't help the rotation out.
  3. Even if they were to sign CC, that offense is still pretty darn pathetic. Pitching is the least of their concerns. If they want to spend the money, they should be going after Tex, Manny, Burrell, and Dunn, that is a much bigger need IMO. They have a rotation capable of contending in the NL West but their offense is barely capable of contending in AAA and I highly doubt an aging Renteria is a solution to that problem.
  4. A couple years ago, Randy Travis played at Miller Park after a Brewers game and my wife convinced me to stay after the game to watch. After the 45 minutes it took to set up and the first 3 songs he sung I realized how much I despised Randy Travis.
  5. I will give you their breadsticks, but that alone is not enough for me to go their again.
  6. Generally when I go to McDonald's late at night all the burgers are old, stale, and pretty much disgusting. When I have a late night food craving for me Taco Bell is always option #1. When McDonalds tries to get to creative with new "higher class" products they are usually gross because they use the same crappy ingredients that may taste good on a burger may not taste so good on once of those chicken sandwiches they introduced a while back. If Fazoli's is considered fast food I would say that their food is pretty sub par as well.
  7. We don't put anything up at the top. We also have a fake, but only because we have to, our apartment complex does not allow real trees because they claim they are a fire hazard. I haven't found anything that looks decent at all on the top because like you said, the branches can't support any weight
  8. Adrian Beltre would be a pretty good one year stop gap IMO
  9. We might finally find out what Branyan can do with 500 AB's since he pretty much as no competition at 1st base at this point. Jack Z said he will have a chance to win the job outright. I would have liked to see him at 3rd in a Hall/Branyan platoon this coming year, but I guess Melvin & Company have other plans. Besides why on earth would Branyan not take the Mariners offer since he is almost guaranteed far more playing time than he would have gotten with the Brewers. I wonder if Melvin made any attempt to bring him back?
  10. Is there any kind of estimation at what it would cost to sign Abreu? Abreu has been a pretty good player who has played virtually every games the last 2 years, but he isn't young anymore and I would think he is lookinf for atleast 3+ years. Can we really afford to sign him at his current worth while having a ton of players entering arby shortly? If we do sign him, Cam would be as good as gone because of his salary and that wouldn't exactly help out our defense either.
  11. In Haudricourt's latest blog item he said that Brewers staff has told him that they have very little wiggle room in their offer with CC. I would assume that to be maybe an extra $1-2M a year tops.
  12. Per Rotoworld, the Pirates are in discussions with Derrick Turnbow. I guess Pittsburgh would be a pretty ideal situation for Derrick to try to restart his career, little to no expectations and, if he turns it around, a pretty good shot of cracking the bullpen sometime in 2009. I hope he turns it around, I was hoping that he would find a team in the AL just in case he does figure it out again.
  13. I hate it when we get just enough snow to screw up the roads. I would just assume we get no snow at all or make it worth our while and get like a foot. I love every part of winter accept having to drive on the roads. It isn't so much the roads though, I am usually very careful when I am driving, it is the other drivers I worry about. It only takes one dude who thinks he can take a 35 MPH curve in the snow going 40 MPH with his Jetta to get me in a stinking accident.
  14. I don't think their is any doubt that Gagne will get offered a major league contract somewhere. Heck we gave him $10M after he stunk up the joint in Boston. He is coming off a pretty darn good 2nd half with a 3.52 ERA, WHIP of 1.0, and a BAA of .205. If he wouldn't have given up so many darn HR's last year we would probably be talking about bringing him back.
  15. I think between this dude and Stetter we should be pretty set in the lefty department. I have very high hopes for Stetter this year.
  16. What is so great about Georgia anyways? Peaches aren't that great. Beer and cheese are way better.
  17. Was it really necessary to sign him to a big league contract though? It seems like Doug could have just gave him a minor league deal, I can't imagine his services were in high demand.
  18. I am also intrigued by a 55 MPH curveball as it really doesn't seem possible. I suppose he could be the 2nd lefty along with Stetter if Doug doesn't bring back Shouse.
  19. The game was quite a bit closer than the final score, so I wasn't too dissappointed. I was however dissappointed with Bohannon's play, his shot has been off lately, and when he isn't shooting well he doesn't add a whole lot to the team.
  20. Before I went to bed last night I checked weather.com and they said less than one inch. I wake up and we have 4-5. Yeah you were almost right stupid weather.com. I was a little late for work because I didn't anticipate the drive time.
  21. This certainly seems conflicting. Not to long ago, doug himself said he wasn't pursuing Fuentes or Krod. I really hope we dont go for either as they are better, cheaper options and we could spend that money elsewhere. I would rather have Kerry Wood or Trevor Hoffman on the free agency market and their is probably a multitude of closers available via trade that I would rather have.
  22. The Knicks also just traded Zack Randolph. They will be very short handed tonight, the Bucks better take advantage.
  23. I think the shine has worn off on Hughes a bit. I think he had much more value last offseason than he does this year. He was pretty awful in 8 starts with NY this year. His last 2 starts were quite a bit better though. That being said I would still want him. If the Yanks are indeed going after CC, Burnett, and Lowe, Hughes is expendable at the right price.
  24. I am pretty sure if Derek Jeter retired right now he would make the hall of fame on the first ballot despite not having hall of fame numbers. He will get to 3,000 hits though so he will be a shoe in even if he is completely over rated. I don't think Mussina deserves to be in. I would much rather vote in a guy who was the best there is for a 7-10 year stretch than a guy who was good for 15-20 years but never the best. HOF should be reserved for the best players in history, if weren't one of the best players in your era, you shouldn't get in.
  25. I can't imagine that Doug will hold onto the Sabathia hope much longer unless he hears from CC's camp fairly soon. He will have to move on, he can't wait until the middle of December to start Plan B.
