  1. So what their have been a grand total of 2 FA signings so far (2 relievers no less) and a couple minor if not inconsequential trades and we all of a sudden are panicking? Give the guy some time. Can you blame Doug for not making any moves considering he doesn't know if he is going to have another $20M+ committed next year to CC? He has to figure that situation out first before he gets aggressive pursuing other FA's and trades. Doug makes it sound like he should know one way or the other fairly shortly. Were really worried about Mark Teahen? The Mark Teahan who had a .715 OPS last year and has declined in each of the last 3 years? Yeah they can go ahead and trade more of their depth for a .715 OPS corner outfielder. We should be encouraging this.
  2. It might not be a bad idea for CC to take 4 years rather than 6. If he is still a Top 5 who knows how much if a salary he could get in 4 years. He could be running the risk of playing for far under market value for years #5 and #6 if he takes a 6 year deal. He would be taking a risk that he remain healthy and productive though.
  3. I also think it is a little bit niave to think that Mark didn't buy the Brewers because he thought he could make money on it. Sure he wants to win, but he wouldn't have bought the team if he didn't think it was a worthwhile investment. He "might" have lost money this year but I am sure his investment has seen an incredible increase in value since he bought the team. If he were to sell the team tomorrow, he would make a huge profit over what he paid for it.
  4. I would gladly take David's .360 + OPB left handed bat on this team. .360 isn't spectacular but it is still pretty darn good. Perhaps he would suited to hit 2nd in the lineup behind Weeks since he got caught stealing 8 out of 19 times last year. He has also struck out less than 85 times in each of the last 3 years with 500 or more AB's. He has got decent power as well. I would still hesitate to part with Weeks, however I think I would be alright with it since he would be going to the AL. If Weeks ever gets his Ave up he will be an OBP monster. I don't know if the Royals would want Hart since Crisp would create a big OF log jam even if DeJesus is traded. 2nd base is their major area of need though and they could always use more pitching. Maybe we could convince them that the Hurricane can be good? Hernan and Villaneuva + a lower level prospect like Lintz, Siedel, or Wright? Would they do Weeks for DeJesus straight up?
  5. I don't know that there was anyone that really deserved the MVP in the AL. Pedroia's numbers don't strike me as MVP worthy but it did come at 2nd base which should be taken into consideration. I certainly don't think Mauer, Morneau, or Krod deserved the MVP either so I am fine with Pedroia. Who put Krod 1st? That seems like a major stretch to me that was completely based on the stupid save stat. There were a ton of relievers that were better than him last year.
  6. If Demp pitches like he did this past year that is a great contract, if he pitches like the old Ryan Dempster... Not so Much. They now have their first 4 SP pretty much set with Zamrano, Harden, Dempster, and Lilly. Lilly is really the only one that doesn't have a major question mark attached so that group has the potential to be extremely good but also the potential to be an absolute mess. If the Cubs gets a couple injuries they are pretty much screwed since they don't have a whole lot of depth. I would think that if they traded for Peavy they would have to trade Marquis first. You can't have Marquis as your long man making as much money as he does. Especially since Demp is getting a big bump in salary, Peavy would bring even more. The Cubs are really loading up on long term contracts.
  7. It seems weird that Ferris State has a D1 hockey program and other schools like Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana, and Iowa don't.
  8. Don't the Marlins just rake in cash? I wonder how soon we will see a $100M payroll? I could see it within 5 years for sure, it is probably inevitable if the Crew continues to be successful.
  9. How could anyone possibly vote on the MVP using August-September as the only metric? This isn't the Pepsi Clutch Performer of the Year Award. It is seriously mind-boggling who he thought Fielder's September was reason enough to say he was more deserving the MVP than Albert Pujols. The guy had a 1.114 OPS for god sakes, no one else besides Chipper Jones was even close. Hell Prince Fielder's OPS in September was only .998. Pujols worst OPS month was .978 in July. This just doesn't make any sense at all, no matter what kind of justification he tried to use.
  10. The Bill Engvall show should be added for sure. Dr. 90210 Outside the Lines / E:60 (you know the shows about nothing, bunch of sappy stuff A couple Food network shows: - Barefoot Contessa - Feasting on Waves - The Food Science show (I can't remember the name)
  11. I just thought I would add TH was the only voter to vote Pujols lower than 4th and TH put Pujols 7th. That is just nuts. To think Pujols only served a 7th place finish and that 6 players were better including Prince Fielder is beyond lunacy.
  12. TH might have been showing a little homerism.... (offset quoted material; added link --1992)
  13. I don't understand how Ryan finished 3rd but I guess I won't complain. I wonder what kind of MVP escalators he has in his contract? NEW YORK -- St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols has won his second National League Most Valuable Player award. Pujols won by a comfortable margin over Philadelphia Phillies slugger Ryan Howard. Milwaukee's Ryan Braun was third and Los Angeles outfielder Manny Ramirez came in fourth after playing just two months with the Dodgers. Pujols hit .357 with 37 home runs and 116 RBIs despite playing much of the season with a sore right elbow. The Cardinals finished fourth in the NL Central. Pujols got 18 of the 32 first-place votes. He also won the award in 2005. Link.
  14. Sorry for being an idiot but what conference are OSU, MICH, and MICH State in? What teams in that conference would be adversely affected?
  15. I have always like KG. I don't really consider hima dirty player, he is just a big man who plays with a ton of emotion and every once in a while and elbow ends up where it shouldn't be. I wish the Bucks had a player like him on the roster. I think some people are being a little over critical on RJ so far. He just isn't the type of player who should be option #1 on offense and right now he is. I think once Redd comes back RJ will be much more comfortable in the offense. He is still playing good defense and rebounding reasonably well, he just needs to get his shot going again and get to the FT line more. I am fairly confident that he will get it going.
  16. I wanted them to lose so badly. I have an irrational hate for Duke but I can't seem to figure out how I came to hate them to much. I think it intensified with the media love fest for JJ Redick and Greg Paulus. I don't think Duke has the talent to be Top Tier team this year. Brain Zoubek is just not any good. Scherer and Singler are 2 solid players but they shouldn't be anywhere near the ACC all conference picks.
  17. I thought I say an article/opinion debunking the rumor that the PU was putting pressure on CC? It basically says the PU puts pressure on young players not to sign long term deals prior to FA but they let players due what they want to do once the reach Free Agency. It is kind of funny that look down upon young kids taking financial security rather than risking their future for a couple extra million bucks.
  18. Badgers made it through a tough scare today. Landry played awesome and Krabby played pretty @$#%@*. Long Beach did make a ton of shots with a hand in thier face to make the game way to close. UW has a lot to work on but a win is a win. I thought Leuer and Nankavil played decent and Hughes played well at time and poorly at times. It looks like big man depth is almost non existent. I don't like the thought of Leuer playing the 5. EDIT: Didn't really that was a bad word
  19. I think we need to temper our enthusiasm a bit until we actually beat a good team. I like this Bucks team but we haven't beaten a good team yet. OKC, Memphis, New York, SA (With all the injuries), and Washington are all pretty poor teams
  20. For 6 years. They have the Brewers by only $3M on the yearly salary but obviously the extra year is the kicker. I'll hold out hope that the Brewers up their offer to 5/110 and CC is happy enough with the Crew to accept 5 years instead of 6.
  21. He got traded to Florida.Darn it. I knew that.
  22. I like Jenks and all but I guess I don't see how this would the Crew a better team. We would have a huge whole in CF and a 2nd basemen who has basically no MLB experience. I am not sure about Vasquez either, he wouldn't really be an upgrade over any of our top 3-4 guys. If the goal is to get Jenks back, I would rather give up a bunch more and try to get Danks or Floyd back as well. You can start with Cameron, Weeks, Gillespie, and Salome/LuCroy or something like that. If they need a 3rd basemen perhaps you dangle Taylor Green out there instead of Salome/LuCroy. That still leaves holes at CF and 2B though so I just don't see a good matchup here unless a 3rd team gets involved. How about this for a crazy scenario: Brewers Get: Gavin Floyd Bobby Jenks David DeJesus Chris Getz White Sox Get: Mike Cameron Rickie Weeks Jonathon LuCroy Leo Nunez Royals Get: Zack Braddock Lance Broadway Brent Brewer I know there is probably a bunch of holes in my scenario but it is Friday and I am bored
  23. Eh, we ripped on them pretty hard when they traded for Kendall last year and that turned out pretty well for the Brewers. I think Wood has quite a few good years left, I would sign him for 2 years with a 3rd year option in a heartbeat. I will be curious to see what his $/yr demands are. I think he is unrealistic expecting to get $10M a year but then again it only takes one GM to make him worth that much.
  24. I am also OK with giving up the pick because it seems very likely will get a 1st round pick from CC anyways and possibly from Sheets.
  25. On the Milwaukee radio topic, I noticed last week that some Mil station is already playing Christmas music. 95.something I think. That is a little ridiculous
