  1. Barnes and "Super Pen" should never been in the same sentence.
  2. As bad as that 9th inning went the other 9 innings basically went perfectly last night. Even in the 9th the Jeffress got the grounders he wanted they just didn't find any gloves. I thought a couple of those off the bat were double plays. Thank goodness that double was just foul. Also my god that Story AB in the 9th was the one of the worst at bats I have ever seen. I don't think Jeffress came within 2 feet of the strike zone on any of those pitches. We rocked Anderson the last time we faced him, lets do it again. Everyone but Woodruff is probably available in some capacity, even if it might be only a hitter or two for Burnes, Knebel, and Hader. I just can't see the Crew losing 3 of 4 to this team.
  3. If Broxton magically got hurt going into Game 5 do the Brewers have the option of replacing him with say Cedeno or are you stuck with your 25 even if there is an injury?
  4. With the off days the Brewers can probably, rather comfortably, count on 5-6 innings out of bullpen every night. A starter should never have to go through the order a 3rd time unless they deserve it. I will be curious what they do with Hader and Burnes. I would much rather they stick to 1 inning outings so maybe they can pitch 3-4 times in the series rather than 2 inning outing where maybe you can use them twice.
  5. 1. Watching the game last night I don't think their offense will be able to put up any crooked numbers against our bullpen. 2. Also on the offense it seems like the team is a little top heavy, the bottom of the lineup isn't very good and the bench is average at best 3. I am glad we probably would only have to face Freeland once (Or maybe twice if he came back in Game 5 out of the bullpen) 4. What are their home/road splits. Are they what we come to expect from them? 5. I think their bullpen is good but based on pure stuff I like Hader, Jeffress, and Knebel more. Hopefully we don't have to worry about Davis. 6. I can't find anyone I irrationally hate on the Rockies, if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it Overall I like the Brewers chances. They need to take care of business game #1 when we should have a favorable pitching matchup and hopefully win at least 1 of Games 2 & 3 against their top of the rotation. Other than the obvious suspects I am going to go with Shaw and Kratz as providing big performances at some point in the series.
  6. Now I have to figure out how to sneak out of work early for 2 consecutive days..... I was at work yesterday and got less than nothing done before, during, or after the game. Might be coming in early and skipping lunch.
  7. The Braves manager has obviously done a great job but keep in mind the Braves played in the worse division in the NL and finished with the worst record of the playoff teams. The Brewers played in the toughest division in baseball and finished with the best record in the NL. You can make the case that the Braves exceeded expectations moreso than the Brewers but IMO neither team was picked to do much of anything going into the year and the Braves benefitted from the DC disaster.
  8. The Cubs literally have one reliever I would trust as a fan, Chavez and he pitched 2 innings yesterday. Everyone else is a complete dumpster fire. If they get down early they are in trouble. They probably don't have a choice but to use Hamels in the pen tonight/
  9. Looks like it will be the winner of the Rockies and Cubs. Cubs will be throwing Lester and I imagine the Rockies will throw Freeland? Good news either way as the Brewers won't have to face Lester, Quintana, Freeland, or Marquez in Game 1 and perhaps each of those guys only once in a 5 game series.
  10. It is probably irrational fear of losing to a division rival but I would really prefer not to play the Cubs in the NLDS.
  11. I still find it highly unlikely the Cubs sweep the Cards so I believe Brewers still have a good opportunity here. I like that the Cubs play there day games ahead of the Brewers the next two days. Just adds more excitement to the Brewers game should they drop one or both of them.
  12. I would put 2011 ahead of them right now but my enjoyment level is higher for this team primarily because I believe this isn't going to be a flash in the pan. In 2011 we knew we might not get another chance with Prince leaving after that year. Not only will this team return basically everyone of consequence there are likely reinforcements on the way and likely room in the budget to further improve the team. Even if they don't make the WS this year I feel like we will have a shot at it for the next 3-4 years yet.
  13. I give the Cubs less than a 10% of sweeping their 4 remaining games given the pitching they will be up against. No doubt in my mind the Brewers will be playing for the Division title Sunday and possibly Monday. Maybe The Jordan Zimmerman matchup on Friday scares me more than it should but the Tigers starters on the weekend looking fairly promising from the Brewers perspective. I absolutely think the Cubs could go 2-2 and if the Brewers take care of business against DET the Division title is there for the taking.
  14. If we don't win the division I would still rather have 2 chances to make the real playoffs (Division Tie Breaker and Wild card game) than just the wild card game.
  15. Best case scenario is Brewers win, Cubs lose, Rockies lose, and Dodgers lose. I don't want the Cards falling any further back in the race for WC2. They still need to be in it going into Sunday to keep those Cubs/Cardinals games relevant.
  16. I am all in for the division now. We are going to finish off the Cards tonight and the Cubs will lose 1 of the next 2 so we are all square going into the weekend. I don't know who the respective starters will be in both series but it is safe to assume the Brewers will have the more favorable matchups. I hope the Rockies and Dodgers lose tonight because I don't want the Cards falling 2 games back in WC going into the weekend as their Sunday game could end up being meaningless. Even we end up tying for the division and have to play a tiebreaker in CHI I would actually feel pretty confident, Brewers are playing very well right now.
  17. I'll admit I will find it hilarious if Jennings starts the game, they already have someone in the bullpen, and he pitches to one batter. This might be a 4 hour game with all of the pitching changes.
  18. Unless you are breaking a virtually tie I don't know that MVP voters really care that Baez is more valuable than Yelich defensively; Yelich is clearly better on the offensive side of things at this point and Yelich certainly isn't known as a bad defender.
  19. Yeah get Barnes and Albers out of there and replace with Burnes and Guerra. Get 2 innings each out of Hader, Burnes, and Guerra and then hopefully get to the finish line with Jeffress, Knebel, Soria. Our best bullpen guys might be shot for the series though, so it would be nice if there was a comfortable win tonight so Counsell could use some other guys instead. Maybe Anderson can still give you 2-3 innings in there somewhere. Flaherty has more or less owned us this year
  20. Based on just overall stats I think Yelich might be pulling away in the MVP race. He now has a comfortable lead in ave, 5th in OBP, 1st is SLG, 1st in OPS, 2nd in runs, 4th in hits, etc. If Baez is considered the competition I think Yelich has separated himself. Yelich is leading him in everything but HR (2 less) and RBI (14 less). Yelich has over a 70 point advantage in OPS right now.
  21. This feels like it will be the most nerve wrecking series of baseball for me since 2011. Win 2 of 3 and we at least are highly likely to get a home wild card; lose 2 out of 3 or worse and you start to get visions of missing entirely or having to go down to STL and having Mikolas completely own us in the WC round.
  22. White Sox lighting up Quintana in the 2nd. Now up 3-1. I am getting my hopes up. If we can be 1.5 games going into next week we have a legitimate shot.
  23. Jeez people need to get a grip. I certainly wasn't implying I would think anything less from season ticket holders if they sold some playoff tickets. Most season ticket holders probably had less than 0% interest of attending a regular season Cubs game in MP; in the playoffs I imagine the interest is a lot more than 0%. I would be the same way if I had season tickets. Of course there are still going to be Cubs fans there but even if 50% of season ticket holders hang on to their NLDS tickets I think MP would be a lot more Brewer friendly.
