  1. Not pretty the entire game but they took care of business. Dallas beating TB was also nice and I will be cheering for Carolina tonight. Obviously they have a clear path to the division now but it sure would be nice to have a backdoor into the playoffs as a wild card. I have almost no confidence that if the D needs a stop in the playoffs that they can get it. The pass rush was non existent yesterday and the corners are playing timid. It was to easy for Matt frickin Barkley yesterday when he wasn't making horrible throws in the middle of the field. I don't think the Packers D can stop Atlanta, Dallas, or NYG if they need to late in a game. Offense is going to have to score a ton of points.
  2. I think the team could possibly win a 1st round series depending on the matchup; they would have little chance advancing beyond that against CLE or TOR though. With Middleton back next year and maybe a FA or draft pick or two they really should be competing for a Top 3 seed.
  3. Giannis has to be a lock for the Bucks 1st All Star in basically forever right? Brogdon probably a look for the Rookie game too. Team is a lot better so far than I was expecting. Crazy that 1.5 games separates 3rd place and 10th place in the East
  4. Wisconsin can just suck it at this point. I can't remember the last time it was this cold and snowy even before Christmas. I guess the Farmers Almanac was right.
  5. Perhaps too off the beaten path for you but Winneconne also has a reputation as a very good school district. They are northwest of Oshkosh and I think Division 3 in basketball and maybe 4 in football.
  6. I give Detroit about a 15% chance of winning at both NYG and Dallas. Maybe that is even high with Stafford's thumb. Odds still are that the Packers will need to be Detroit the last week to make it Tampa Bay/Atlanta and Washington would be the main competition for the 2nd WC; NYG likely has 1st WC wrapped up. Obviously the Packers would probably be 9-7 if they are worrying about a WC. Tampa is 8-5 and has games against DAL, NO, and CAR. Lose 2 of 3 which is certainly possible they are at 9-7, not sure on the tiebreaker with TB. Atlanta is 8-5 and would need to lose all 3 games for the Packers to make it at 9-7 since ATL has the head to head. SF, CAR, and NO so very unlikely. Packers need to hope ATL wins the division WASH is 7-5-1 and has games against Carolina, Chicago, and NYG. They would need to lose 2 of those games so this week against Carolina is huge.
  7. Only got about 4 inches in FDL and it was really light snow so all in all not too bad. Now we get to look forward to really cold temps all week followed by another snow storm on Friday that looks to be the strongest one yet. Weather.com has it at 7-13 inches in FDL between Friday and Saturday. Yesterday the estimate was even higher.
  8. Ugh. I am supposed to have a Christmas party on Sunday; hopefully the roads aren't too bad. Looks like the Packer game this week will be snowier than last week.
  9. I am expecting 2017-2018 to be the breakout year assuming no injuries or significant trades. Giannis and Parker are one year older and Middleton is back. Couple that with continued growth from Brogdon and whoever they get in the upcoming draft I see a ton of potential. And that is not even assuming Maker amounts to anything. IF Maker turns into even a league average player that upside on this team is just crazy. Too bad they are wasting so much salary on Plumlee, I assume they would be in a better position to add a piece or two this offseason if he weren't signed to such a stupid contract.
  10. The losses to IND and TEN are killing them right now. Even if they had split them they would be in pretty good shape for at least a wildcard. I don't think they can run the table at all. They have to win at least 3 of 4 with one of them being in Detroit the last game of the season. Detroit has turned out to be a lot better than expected. I think this year will come down to the end the same was as last year; but now the Packers won't have a backdoor way into the playoffs. It is division or nothing. 9-7 won't make the playoffs.
  11. If they win this weekend against Seattle they probably make the playoffs. A home game against a reeling Viking team, a road game against a terrible Bears team, and likely a winner take all road game against Detroit. Seattle is by far the toughest of the 3. If we lose Detroit will need to lose to both NY and Dallas. That's possible but I don't want to pin my playoff hopes on Eli Manning.
  12. Part of the issue with the injuries is that Capers is being forced to rely on rookies and 2nd year players because you know TT does not like veterans. The ship is sinking fast. I didn't think MM or TT's job was really at stake here but if they keep going down this path..... Don't forget that after the 6-0 fluke start last year they are now 8-11 with a first round exit in the playoffs. They have lost a bunch of games at home they had no business losing and have not even been competitive on the road a lot of times. If they stumble to say 6-10 I think heads probably roll.
  13. That is 2 straight games where the defense needed a stop at the end and they just couldn't get it. I know the secondary is short but the complete lack of a pass rush against a supposedly crappy OL is what did in the defense more than anything. Offense was just a tick off again. Rodgers missed Jordy deep for a probably TD in the 1st Q I think and Janis also dropped a deep ball. I don't understand the focus on Richard Rodgers this game. A light wind will knock that guy over. And like has been said I remember a couple occasions where Rodgers through deep when there were other guys open. Finally just stop with the back shoulder throws; it has literally worked only a couple times this year. They need to win at least 2 of the next 3 games on the road to really stay in it; probably a tall order for this team right now I am not sure if missing the playoffs or finishing with an 8-8 record is enough for a shakeup in the coaching staff or management but it will certainly intensify the hot seat in 2017 if things don't go well. Murphy and Thompson value continuity so much I just don't believe McCarthy is in danger.
  14. I would not consider Indiana to be a weak team; they are generally expected to make the playoffs. Giannis has been very good so far and yesterday was a breakout for Parker. He hit some jumpers and was more aggressive. I am liking Snell more and more; he is a great shooter. He isn't the all around player that Middleton is but he is a far more useful piece than MCW I think. Plumlee and his contract already look like a disaster; he is not adding much of anything to the team right now.
  15. Is it to early for the 2017 Mock Draft? If they are in the Top 10 there are a lot of guards available. Amazingly on NBAdraft.net 9 the top 9 picks are all freshman or international players. There will be lots of fluctuations. Don't see to many good C prospects. They have the Bucks drafting 13th and taking Grayson Allen in the 1st and Vitto Brown in the 2nd. Brown in the 2nd actually isn't that bad but my irrational hatred of Allen runs deep.
  16. If they can get the key defensive guys healthy I think they should be fine long term. They have 3 very winnable games coming up and hopefully they take at least 2 of them. The progress of the offense has been a big positive in the last 6 quarters. That they were able to play that well this week with no running game and two of their top 4 WR's out was pretty impressive. Yesterday was tough; I just never had a good feeling that the defense could get a stop there at the end. The secondary is short handed and Ryan was getting rid of the ball so quickly that the pass rush couldn't get there
  17. Last night is kind of a microcosm of what I was expecting going in. Giannis is going to be very good on most nights and the rest of the supporting cash it kind of blah. For being the shooter we needed Teletovic was terrible. Parker was also invisible for most the night. One game against a pretty good team; but that is the kind of team you need to beat at home if you want to go to the playoffs and they were never in it.
  18. It does seem that they big money FA contracts in football barely work out; but football contracts are also rarely guaranteed beyond a couple years so you can just cut bait. Its one thing not wanting to pay for the Tier 1 free agents; its quite another to not bother with the 2nd or 3rd tier guys either. And like you said the few times the Packers have gone to FA it has gone pretty well. Plus the Packers as we know them now probably aren't the same if Reggie White had never signed. Packer fans have been spoiled; but I think virtually everyone would agree that only winning 2 Super Bowls with 25 consecutive years of Rodgers and Favre would be a colossal disappointment. I am fine with McCarthy but unless your Belicheck I think eventually a head coach just loses there hold on a team and its best just to move on. You don't just fire him with no good alternative though.
  19. I think if they stick to the approach from last week that will be fine. They probably need to throw 50 times a game. That being said someone somehow needs to stretch the field a bit; but eventually teams will over commit to the short passing routes and the deep game should open up. They are going to need to score some points this week; with the banged up secondary going against Julio Jones it might be a bloodbath back there.
  20. My prediction for the year is 39-43. Giannis and Parker make big strides but the lack of outside scoring threats and weak bench continues to kill the team. Giannis also makes his first all star team and makes All-NBA 3rd team. No one of consequence is traded at the deadline since it appears Monroe has no trade value. Best case scenario maybe they win 45 games.
  21. Don't forget trading picks for Grevis Vasquez for no good reason. Hammond is a pretty solid drafter but looks to be pretty terrible with FA and trades.
  22. I get the MCW trade; it makes sense to me. That being said I am not optimistic about this year. I don't think we have solved our shooting problems especially that Middleton is basically out for the year. Plus you still have the issue with Monroe limiting the style of play they want. They will be better than last year but unless BOTH Parker and Giannis turn in All Star caliber years I think the playoffs are going to be tough.
  23. I get the cactus league nachos most every game a I go to; not sure why I guess it is tradition more than anything. I can only get to 2-3 games a year so I don't really care if I spend some money at the park. If I was a season ticket holder I doubt I would get food all that much.
  24. Excited for another year of what should be a solid in state basketball season. More buzz about UW obviously but I'll be interested to see if Marquette improves without Ellenson. The recruiting has been pretty good, lets see if Wojo can turn that into a good season here quick. I think he needs to start producing. I am very interested to see Van Vliet for UW. 7 footer with outside range so he could be a huge addition to the rotation. Maybe Pritzl as well. Hopefully Hayes fixed his shot and the freshman class from last year took a step this offseason
  25. I wouldn't think they would spend $20 Million on something that isn't going to add to their bottom line. Whatever it is it will be a big revenue generator.
