  1. Royals have apparently inquired on Weeks. If any organization is dumb enough to want Weeks the Royal would probably be it. I would trade Weeks for whatever I could get and even then Doug would almost certainly have to pay a portion of the salary
  2. I just don't understand the complete lack of apparent interest in Lohse. Jake Peavy the perpetually injured and old Jake Peavy is the prize of the trade deadline over Lohse. And Cliff Lee is still owed a bazillion dollars. Maybe Melvin has fielded a bunch of calls and is just waiting for a desperate team on the 31st; but man if I was a contending team I think Lohse would be pretty attractive. His performance far exceeds his contract and his contract isn't really all that bad
  3. Brewers have gotten pretty unlucky. There best trading chips coming into the year could have been Hart, Ramirez, Weeks, and Gallardo and they all either suck or got hurt. In hindsight maybe DM should have tried harder to trade some people this past offseason but maybe even then he did and just didn't get any worthwhile offers. I am thinking one more reliever will get dealt and maybe Aoki but it sure doesn't look like there will be a blockbuster or any big time prospects coming our way. I would expect DM to pretty active this offseason though with some money coming off of the books after this year and next.
  4. Lohse may be on the wrong side of 30 but he has gotten better with age and $12 million a year is not expensive at all for a god starting pitcher nowadays. I don't think his contract should play a major role; he is not all of a sudden going to be Jeff Suppan next year. There is nothing this year that would lead me to believe a big drop off is coming.
  5. I was at the game yesterday and the topic of conversation in our group was how amazing it was that Weeks had only 22 RBI's on the year despite hitting in RBI producing positions in the lineup. Its not like he is Aoki and leading off every day. Plus we basically turned away when Weeks came up in those two run scoring situations. We would be been pleasantly suprised if he had actually done something good
  6. It is kind of weird that the NFL comes down so hard on criminal issues like DUI's yet baseball doesn't even bat an eye. A DUI is practically an automatic suspension for NFL players but their is virtually no discipline in MLB for off the field issues (Other then PED's obviously).
  7. Scooter just needs to be up long enough to make sure Weeks doesn't get the AB's to vest his 2015 option. Gennett probably isn't the answer but he is atleast good enough to play 2 times a week
  8. I was wondering if he comes back out and says I was taking in 2011 if he would somehow be exposed to further discipline by the league. He just got suspended for reasons other than a failed test. If he comes out and says yeah I was taking it and the failed test was legit I wonder if MLB would have grounds to suspend him for that also
  9. Do all the contending teams really have 3 starters that our better than Gallardo? It seems a stretch to say that Gallardo would be a 4/5 if a contending team were to acquire him. I think he would be a solid #3 on most teams
  10. In the least shocking news of the day; ESPN is reporting that Braun started buying from Bosch during the Summer of 2011. And 2-3 months later and perhaps even his first drug test after starting with Bosch, he tests positive. Still don't know if 2011 was his first venture into PED's and just used them to stay on the field during a playoff run or if he just decided to switch suppliers in 2011.
  11. I would probably put Roache #3 simply because his bat really seems to have taken off in the last couple weeks. His OPS is still only 750 for the year but his July has been spectacular. I am hoping that something just clicked. Tyrone Taylor is still my #1 and Delmonico, Roache, and Coulter kind of blend together for me. Haniger seems to have a ceiling of a 4th outfielders and I am just not sure on Arcia yet. Hunter Morris has to be on that list somewhere even though his 2013 has been dissappointing. Also I really like the 2013 high upside guys in Newhaus and Denson; but they are in Maryvale and really long term projects
  12. I would imagine this guy should slot in somewhere in the Top #10 of the Brewers system, maybe even top #5. Not bad at all for a guy that no one wanted
  13. Really have to like the walk rate and power potential. Plus he plugs a big organizational need at third. Seems like a decent return
  14. I think it is clearly a stretch to say that fans will not buy tickets if Braun is on the team. It has and will always come down to performance of the team. Having Braun around isn't going to have some tangible effect on ticket sales or otherwise. So I don't buy that the Brewers need to cut the cord to save the franchise from attendance problems, merchandise problems, etc. And I highly doubt that Braun will have such a negative effect on the clubhouse that everyone will just be pissy and start sucking. I guess in general I am pretty skeptical that bringing Braun back will have any tangible negative affect on the team unless his performance just isn't adequate.
  15. There is still absolutely no way Braun will ever be traded in the next 3 years. He is basically untradeable until he demonstrates that he is actually still good and then what is the point of trading him? Trading him for less than full value because he is a liar is just not smart. I don't see anyway that trading Braun is a wise baseball decision; you are never going to get equal value back. You are better off sticking with him. He has got some damage control to do with the team but time heals all wounds and I hope he will do whatever he can to earn their trust back. Although that will probably be difficult; probably moreso for some players than others
  16. Then what about Gallardo. Drving drunk like 2x or 3x over the maximum? He was putting other peoples lives in danger; Braun arguably was really only hurting himself. And comparing ones actions/words in the middle of a criminal case vs a dispute with an employer is hardly a fair comparison.
  17. I'll second that; if any team will take on Aram you let him go. Even if you get nothing out of it. It creates a giant hole at 3rd in 2014 but we would have a whole offseason to figure it out.
  18. Has it been established when he was buying this stuff? Was it prior to his previous failed test or was this still going on last year? If he was clean in 2012 and 2013 it make me feel a lot better about is production going forward. I kind if figured all the nagging injuries he has had is a likely side effect of not being on somethng anymore.
  19. People will eventually move on from this; its just going to take a lot of time to heal. If Braun comes back next year and puts up an OPS of 900+ then about 75% of Brewer fans will love him again. Yeah he will get booed on the road but he got booed in 2012 too. Eventually that will die down as well. There will probably be a whole new scandal by opening day 2014 anyways. I just haven't gotten really all that upset over the situation. I know I have lied and/or thrown people under the bus before to benefit myself and probably everyone else has done the same thing. Braun didn't do inherently illegal. I am not excusing what he did I am just being realistic, Braun is human just like everyone else and naturally looked out for himself first. I never idolized Braun I just thought he was a good player playing for my favorite team. As long as his contract doesn't become some giant albratross then I am ready to move on. Braun isn't going to get traded or released it simply doesn't make baseball sense and DM is not one to make a deal on emotion. DM and MA will only do whats best for the Brewers and the probably is wait and hope that he is still a good player going forward. Dumping him now for peanuts doesn't make a whole lot of sense and I don't think we could even find a trading partner anyways
  20. People lie all the time; Braun's lie just happens to be a vey public lie. I can't find myself getting too worked up over it. Braun is just the first domino to drop of many in the near future. He is just one of 20-100 guys that have always denied in the past but in reality were doing it.
  21. I don't really idolize any player; if Braun comes back next year and plays like he always has I don't really care. But if he comes back and just sucks it is going to be a long 7 years for everyone and Braun will be Favre times a million. Performance and winning will cure all; but if he isn't the same player it is going to be rough
  22. 5 years from now hardly anyone will even care unless he gets caught doing something again. Look at all the previous guys that got caught; Colon was in the All Star game this year. He will take a beating for sure but he basically can avoid the media until next February; perhaps things will die down a bit by then. If he was going to be suspended it probably couldn't have worked out better for the Brewers
  23. An appeal makes no sense at all based on the statements. 50 or 65 games who really cares, just get it over with and move on to 2014. Obviously MLB had something pretty good on him
  24. For Mike Olt, CJ Edwards, and a 3rd TBD players Rangers give up Olt for Garza this year after refusing to give him up for Grienke last year. We might have lucked out that they refused to trade him to us last year
