  1. They won and Giannis didn't even get in the game. I am not sure if I liked the result or not. Mayo played pretty weel and Butler continues to be dreadful. Neal finally had a decent game. Henson is a FG % machine; 7-9 last night. He has a pretty sweet lefty hook. I am starting to feel that Sanders might be turning into a problem. He was already a bit of a hot head. With his new guaranteed contract and his diminished playing time we might be sitting on a ticking time bomb. This year couldn't have started off worse for him.
  2. They have also played 3 rather mediocre teams; just imagine how things will go when they start playing CHI, IND, NJ, MIA, etc. It will be a bloodbath. I am going to go with the 25-30 win range. There are enough bad teams that the Bucks should be able to win 30-40% of their games. No one on the team has looked overly impressive thus far although I have liked how Henson has played when he has actually been on the floor. Maybe things change once Knight is playing.
  3. mlbtraderumors came out with their Top 50 FA's and for some reason predicted the Brewers would sign Paul Maholm. That move would make no sense to me. (The only other FA they had us signing was Hart)
  4. Well that too. So far this year it seems like the 2nd string is playing much better than 1st string. Our top 5 are getting killed in the 1st half and Drew has needed the backups and there energy to get back in the games. Those acquisitions of Butler and Neal just look like pure genious right now. Mayo and Zaza have been pretty solid this far IMO.
  5. Drew just stuck with the 2nd stringers who got the team back in the game. They just ran out of gas the last 2-3 minutes
  6. Middleton showed next to nothing last night; hopefully Drew comes to his senses and takes him out of the starting lineup. The team looked awful in the 1st half but you have to give them credit for competing in the 2nd half. The half court offense looked horrible; no one on the team really has that 1 on 1 capability. Sanders seems to have had his head up his rear end the entire preseason and through the 1st game; he has been entirely unimpressive so far. Perhaps he is putting too much pressure on himself. Hopefully it is not the other scenario where he got paid and is now taking it easy. Giannis got 3 fouls in 4 minutes and I didn't really notice him too much. He should get a pass since its his first NBA game. I would like to see him get at least 10 minutes a game so he can get used to the NBA.
  7. I am certainly intrigued enough to sit down and watch the opener tonight. But I can see myself being turned off rather quickly if they are truly horrible and/or aren't playing the young guys enough. I have a feeling that Giannis is going to barely see the floor once Ersan comes back. Is Drew really going to give Khris freaking Middleton minutes over Giannis?
  8. This listing could change quite a bit in 2014. Most of our high upside guys were in R and A ball last year. More than a couple have a very nice skill set that could turn them into legitimate prospects. Granted I still don't think there are any superstars in the waiting down there; but we probably would at least be closer to 15th than 30th. They need to knock em dead in the 2014 draft; thats for sure.
  9. I think that is a little unfair to the NFL. Kickoffs are just a natural point for commercials just as inning changes and pitching changes are for MLB. Over the course of a broadcast the percentage of commercials for NFL vs. MLB is probably about the same (eliiminating halftime). I have never noticed it all that much at home although it does get a little annoying if you attend in person. I prefer watching MLB games in person much moreso than NFL but I find watching NFL on TV is far more enjoyable than MLB.
  10. The cards sure find creative ways every year to win in the playoffs. It sickens me. The call last night was probably right but it still doesn't make it right. Why did Salty even throw to 3rd; just dumb.
  11. Marquette would certainly be a Top #10 team with Blue this year. I will wait and see on this team; is the New Big East really down that much that Gardner get on the 1st team. He is a solid player but I would hardly consider him a 1st team type of talent. Duane Wilson is out for a while now too; I don't think they have a whole lot of depth. UW is really deep on the guard side and really thin on big men. It should be interesting to see how much time the freshman bigs get. Bo might not have a choice but to play them a ton. I am looking forward to Dekker in his 2nd year here; a lot of people are expecting big things from him. UW is probably another Top #25 team and maybe a run at the Big Ten title if things go there way. A lot will depend on those big guys.
  12. If they are going to be bad regardless; they better give a ton of minutes to Henson and Giannis. Those guys are the only reason to tune into the games. I really don't want to see the retreads getting significant minutes over our young players.
  13. The Bucks have looked so atrocious this preseason that part of me is thinking they are capable of getting a Top #5 pick. I know preseason can be decieving but I don't think things are looking very promising at the moment.
  14. Twitter blocked at work; what does it say?
  15. If the Bucks managed to get a top flight draft pick it might be easier to draw a good FA here; I don't know that the Bucks will ever a attract a max contract though. They really do have to build within. I mean Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, etc are never going to come here in a million years. Especially with the way NBA salaries are structured. Every team can basically only offer the same amount of money. So decisions in the NBA ultimately come down to location and the quality of the team far more than in any other sport. It probably shouldn't be a suprise that the Packers rely so heavily on the draft rather than FA. Even with the success that the Packers have had I still don't think FA's would be lining up to play there. Outside of Reggie White a long freaking time ago; no heavily sought after FA has picked GB over someone else. Woodson and Picket were kind of afterthoughts. It sure seems that most FA's on the major sports prefer the big cities and/or warmer climates. Unfortunately, the Packers, Bucks, and Brewers are out of luck and have to develop from within and hopefully get lucky on a trade or FA acquisition every once in a while.
  16. Baker has been lucky enough to manage some incredibly talented teams (I.E. Sosa, Wood, Prior, Bonds, Votto, etc) and for the most part failed to live up to expectations. I would hate to see what he could do to a mediocre team like the Brewers. He is like the Ant-Yost. Yost generally turned horrible teams into mediocre teams. Baker turned terrific teams into mediocre teams; with obviously one exception.
  17. Heaven forbid people can't get excited when they do something good in the NLCS. Give me a break.
  18. Cleveland has also been terrible recently and managed to get #1 picks in Irving & Bennet and another Top #5 pick in Waiters. I don't think that they outright tanked; Lebron leaving had a lot to do with it. But they were bad for 3 years and are now reaping the benefits. Charlotte has been terrible but they have made so many bad picks that they are no closer to being good than when they started.
  19. Hardballtalk pointed out today that Dbacks pitchers actually hit more players than Dbacks hitters got hit in 2013. In fact the Dbacks only legitimate power hitter, Goldschmidt, got hit a whopping 3 times all year. Wade Miley was the starting pitcher for all three games. Perhaps we should give them Hellweg for Miley. If the goal is to hit more people then Hellweg is definitely Towers' guy. I think Towers has more or less imagined up a controversy here.
  20. Well the bad news is that the absolutely got blitzed in their preseason opener. The goods news is that the Greek looked like he should be able to step in and play right away. Drew gave him a lot of minutes last night. Henson also showed a nice offensive game I thought. But the team is going to be bad, no doubt about it. With mostly starters on the floor they were losing like 21-6 to am improving but probably still mediocre Cleveland team.
  21. Towers is taking his gritty battlers approach to a whole new level here. Putting extra guys on base and opening yourself up to ejection is totaly worth showing off that your macho.
  22. Hardballtalk has nice article laying into the "Do it by the book" Braves this morning. And the author is a Braves fan. I am more happy then I should be that the Braves lost. I shouldn't be happy that the Yankees of the NL are close to the World Series, the Pirates are all I have left.
  23. One or two year deal wouldn't be all that bad; anything more than that I would be upset with. And of course it would depend on the dollar amount. I really don't expect DM to be all that active in the FA market except for perhaps a low dollar / high injury risk / high upside SP/RP or two.
  24. This back and forth between Jennings and Sanders is really rather odd. Obviously Jennings was forced at times to take most of the tough shots but that was primarily his undoing for dribbling the ball so darn much and in general not being a very good passer or finisher. I will be shocked if Jennings all of a sudden turns into some efficient pass first point guard in Detriot. I just don't see it.
  25. What possible use do the Cubs have for Gamel. 1st base is kind of spoken for there. Of course by all means I encourage them to put Gamel at 3rd base and see how it goes.
