  1. Not taking anything away from Gomez, but that really is a catch every CF should be able to make. He was already playing no doubles depth and was camped under it for a while. It wasn't the easiest catch in the world but I would like to think most OF's would be able to haul that one back. Gomez has been awesome though; it will be a travesty if he doesn't get a gold glove and maybe even silver slugger. Making the all star game should increase his exposure enough to get the gold glove votes he needs. There is no way that there are 3 other outfielders out there more dserving than him of the GG
  2. I think he was referring to platooning Halton and Morris which seems to make some sense especially if Aoki is traded. Of the two I would bet on Morris as the long term answer. Hes got some nice power; maybe a 20 HR a year guy in MLB. He can take a walk. A little inconsistent this year though and probably is best served to stay in AAA until September call ups. I don't think he will ever be a consisent .900 OPS guy that is ideal at 1st; but an .800-.850 OPS isn't that bad.
  3. Atleast Jennings + Mayo + Delfino is still much worse than Jennings + Ellis + Redick + Dunleavy. Even with these signings we are probably worse than last year. We will probably need to get lucky to get a Top #5 pick next year but I think as of right now we are squarely around 10 or so. I think some bad Eastern Conference teams have gotten better this year. Of course if Jennings does leave then we are absolutely gunning for a top pick, I don't see that happening though
  4. I can't imagine Brett or his sister staying quiet about playing in the minors. Only a matter of time before he and/or she says something they regret.
  5. So now its OJ Mayo? Apparently the Bucks are interested in every single guard on the market. My understanding of Mayo is he is basically a larger version of Ellis. Altough he probably shoots it a little bit better. Not sure what to think of the deal, I am sure it is for to much and for to long. Team will still have trouble scoring. Not sure if this rules out Korver or Smith. Probably still a bad team but probably not Top #5 pick bad.
  6. Did we really just offer 32 year old one trick pony Kyle Korver 20 Million over 3 years? Obviously the guy is a heck of a shooter and we need a SG but a signing like this seems unecessary given the Bucks current state. I hope he accepts an offer somewhere else. Also heard they are still really hard after JR Smith. Awfully confusing, based on the draft it seemed like MIL was prepared to tank, now they are showing interest in a couple fairly expensive shooting guards. I don't get it. Even if Korver or Smith sign they are still going to be worse than last year. Ellis/Redick/Dunleavy >>>>> Korver or Smith. Just find a cheap SG somewhere; I am sure there is someone that costs less than $20 Million
  7. Ouch. Sad but True. I view Tobias Harris somewhat the way I view Jake O and Brett L. I liked both of the Brewers trades better than the Bucks trade but we still traded away very young players with oodles of potential. Especially in the case of Harris it is going to hurt in a bad way if he somehow becomes an All Star. Nothing will ever top the Ray Allen giveaway for me but this trade would be right up their in horribleness. EDIT: Fixed some typos
  8. So Peralta is looking good so far. Somehow he will manage to make his final line look horrible.
  9. Just getting anything for Redick is probably an accomplishment. But turning Tobias Harris, Doron Lamb, and Beno Udrih into 2 2nd round pick entirely sucks. The LAC pick is going to be one of the last picks of the draft and the Suns should be much better this year with Bledsoe and Len. When just viewing this transaction as is it is probably a good deal. But when evaluating Hammond overall it just completely stinks
  10. But if you are a team that is expecting to contend next year you shouldn't really care about trading a 2014 draft pick. Yeah the Top 5-10 next year look really strong but if you are going to be drafting in the 20's they shouldn't care how good the draft is. There are good players on bad teams that are ripe for the picking and the good teams know that. It isn't like Bledsoe is going to team up with Jennings and somehow make the team drastically better than the Jennings/Ellis combination from last year. The Bucks can still be plenty bad next year with him. I would do that deal if I were the Bucks but bringing Butler along with Bledsoe is a little less appealing. They don't need any more dead weight on the roster. Gooden already fills that role
  11. Please please please let Rizzo and Williams be the real deal. Hopefully it is fun watching those guys develop. And Denson continues to draw walks and get on base. I am going to keep a close eye on him. A High Schooler that will take a walk and has massive power is nice to see.
  12. The team still isn't nearly as bad as the record indicates. We have a lot of really nice core pieces some of which are injured some of which are underperforming. We have one of the best bullpens in all of the NL this year. I think odds are very good that the offense will rebound somewhat next year and be above average. The problem will continue to be the starting rotation which has been pathetic by virtually every measure. Every starter we have has pitched below expectations; how Kranitz still has a job I am not quite sure. And obviously we don't have that #1 starter waiting in the wings. I don't think their is any way that Mark cleans house. Some people are going to get traded but I don't think Mark is even going to consider letting DM or RR go this year. Its too bad that our best trading chips are either hurt (Hart) or sucky (Gallardo & Weeks). Although Weeks recent resurgence might allow us to trade ihm for something if we wanted to. 2 or 3 of the bullpen guys should be traded.
  13. I just saw that Eric Bledsoe of LAC may be the target of a sign and trade with Redick. That would appear to be a nice player to get for a FA that is leaving anyways. I think Bledsoe is only signed through next year though.
  14. Yuni can only benefit humanity by reducing war. I am pretty sure that DM's and RR's justification for still employing him. Its for the good of the world
  15. Well it looks like Jennings will be back and Ellis & Redick are almost definitely gone. Dunleavy is probably gone too. They have absolutey no one that can shoot on the team as of right now and I don't think there are any hot shooting FA's that are going to be coming to MIL either. With the lack of offense from our forwards and centers it sure seems like MIL is going to have an extremely low scoring team next year. Not a bad outcome if we want to be bad this year but you still need someone to play guard. Maybe Wolters will play SG?
  16. I kinda figured Jennings would be back all along. But if someone offers him a max contract you have to at least consider letting him leave right? Jennings is a nice player but he isn't a max contract player the same way Redd wasn't a max contract player.
  17. And if I remember correctly Linebrink was only a 2 month rental right? To bad Doug can't trade with himself for relievers. We might be able to net Jimmy Nelson out of this.
  18. With the lack of guard depth I hope MIL will kick the tires on a couple UDFA like Vander Blue, Phil Pressey, or Myck Kabongo. If anything they need someone to play guard even if they are tanking.
  19. I would trade Axford in a heartbeat. Considering the run he is on, I have to imagine a high payroll team wouldn't bat an eye at paying Axford $6 Million + next year. Outside of a basically 2 week blip he has been great this year and would be a huge addition to a contending teams bullpen. I think the Brewers should be fine with their bullpen going forward if they trade him. That being said I would have no idea what to expect as a return. The buying team would have control for 2.5 more years and his salary isn't cheap. Could you get a guy in the Top 75-125? Maybe.
  20. I must have not stayed up late enough to notice that. Bilas and Simmons were raving about Wolters when he got drafted. He could be a dcent back up guard probably. I don't see starter potential there
  21. Bucks definitely went high upside in this draft which is a pleasant surprise. Don't know if Ledo or Gianni Antelope will see much time but give them a couple years and hopefully a nice pick next year and the team looks like it might have some potential. It still all depends what they do in the next month with Jennings, Ellis, and Redick
  22. Rizzo with another impressive performance thus far in AZ, Plus Denson has his 2nd bomb of the year. Coulter also hitting well in Helena. Lots of exciting high school and Latin kids to watch in the lower levels
  23. Or maybe they do have every intention of tanking? Drafting a guy that might not play a minute in the NBA next year should help out that cause
  24. What the hell? They take a guy that is probably a long term project while not filling their guard need at all. I am utterly confused. They don't have a choice but to bring back Ellis and/or Jennings now
  25. I am drooling just thinking about the Brewers possibly hitting on all three of thier high upside HS picks in Williams, Neuhaus, and Denson. Obviously way way to early to think that but at least the first couple games have been promising
