  1. It seems to be that whenever the Greek Freak is on the floor he seems to do some really nice things and isn't over matched. He really should be playing more although he did get a nice amount of minutes last night. The Bucks remain in 1st in the reverse standings. The Knicks!!!! only have 3 wins all year and Utah, Sacramento, and Brooklyn are the next closest competitors.
  2. Another solid win last night. They have shown they can win high and low scoring games. Defense was great last night and they didn't foul a ton doing it. Obviously they were crazy broke last night but they won in spite of it. They get Marquette at home and should be a solid favorite in that game. If they beat Marquette they don't have another losable game until they open B10 play in January. They would be 13-0 by then. The start of their B10 schedule isn't all that daunting either @NW, Iowa, Illinois, @Indiana,
  3. With the maximum posting fee of $20 Million now established for Japanese players would the Brewers A. pay that posting fee and B. have any realistic shot of signing Tanaka? With probably numerous teams offering the full $20 Million I can't imagine it would hurt to at least try. Tanaka would get to pick from the teams that posted the $20 Million fee.
  4. Didn't Seattle move in the fences or am I imagining that? Or was the Petco? In any case if they haven't done it yet I wonder what is stopping them. It really is killing there chances of fielding a competitive team.
  5. Heck I would love signing Morneau for that price. Hart IMO should be a little lower because Morneau atleast played last year.
  6. DM is usually good for at least one suprise. I am really not expecting anything ground breaking though. Maybe a mid tier SP, a reliever or two, and someone anyone to play 1st.
  7. Damn that is cheap. It makes me wonder if Melvin was involved because we certainly could have matched that package. Fister would have been a great addition.
  8. I would give him a shot for a couple million. Get as many hard throwers with good stuff as you can and hopefully you get lucky. That is all bullpen construction is nowadays. A 1 or 2 year deal at 2-3 million per year seems reasonable to me
  9. I think Ersan could probably net a lower 1st round pick from a contending team looking for that missing piece. A ton of those lower 1st round picks are foreign stashed away players. I would think those good teams would view Ersan as well worth giving up one of those picks. That being said I don't know that Pick #25 or whatever is really worth it to give up Ersan. You certainly won't be able to draft an equivalent player that will step in and contribute like Ersan does. Hopefully the Bucks can package some players and get another pick in the 10-20 range. They could get a very useful player there to help in a quick rebuild.
  10. I am starting to think they might not win 15 games.
  11. Justin Morneau? I know his best days are behind him but he still looks like he could very useful to the Brewers as an alternative to Hart. Who would everyone bank on having a better year in 2014; Hart or Morneau? I would think the prices would be pretty similar too although Morneau has been healthier than Hart the last 2 seasons
  12. Braun didn't really say a whole lot other othan apologizing over and over again. If people didn't forgive him over his last apology this presser won't make any difference. If he is a 900+ OPS guy on the field again in 2014 the whole state (or atleast a majority) will forget or choose to ignore his past issues.
  13. Badgers are putting together a pretty solid resume thus far. St Johns, Florida, St Louis, UWG are all solid wins. Potential wins against West Virginia, Marquette, and Virginia would make a really strong non conference season. Marquette played much better against Arizona State the other day despite the loss. I have a feeling there will be a lot of ups and downs for the team this year.
  14. Its not blind homerism to think this lineup isn't very strong. There really isn't a black hole in the group assuming a competent 1st baseman is found. Injuries are a question mark but I still think this offense will be significantly above average. Braun, Lucroy, Gomez, Segura, Ramirez, Davis, Gennet, Hart? is a damn good offense. I am not saying the pitching is top 5 in the NL or anything crazy like that but our starters are good enough to keep us in the game and have some upside potential. The 2nd half last year was so much better that it was reason enough to be lightly more optimistic on the pitching front. I really don't think it is a stretch at all to think that an incredibly potent offense could mitigate the issues in the pitching staff and produce a playoff contending team. Injuries are a big question mark but that could be said for most teams. Lose arguably your top 3 offensive talents and of course the team will suffer.
  15. With all this money being spent so far on mediocre talent it really does make me wonder what Hart will get. If Hart were healthy he would be one of the hottest FA's this year; something tells me a team is going to throw crazy money at him and DM will be forced into a plan b or c. But Haren on only a 1 year deal isn't the end of the world. Even if they spent too much for the one year it hardly will be a big deal to the Dodgers.
  16. What is Hammond's contract status? It certainly seems to get a new GM in here before the trading deadline and let them mold the team and make the pick in 2014. I guess I don't have a whole lot of faith in Hammond to make the correct pick in 2014; hopefully it is a no brainer that he can't screw up.
  17. I think the Brewers are in much better shape than most other people think; but really we all need to wait until at least January before we decide if the team has enough talent to challenge the Pirates, Cards, and Reds. So much can happen yet. We atleast have to find out who will be playing 1st.
  18. Its like they are not even trying anymore. New York and Brooklyn both only have 3 wins but it is only a matter of time before those teams turn it on. Even though they may be only 3 games back of the 8 seed there are far more talented teams in front of them. During this losing streak it seems like they have gotten progressively worse and worse. I want them to be bad this year but I don't want them to be humiliated by 20-30 points every night either. At least put up a fight
  19. I sure as heck wouldn't blow this team up. The offense should be fine assuming Braun is his normal self. Getting a competent 1B like Hart and going from Weeks to Gennett should improve the offense. Khris Davis will hopefully add a power bat. Aram would be another major plus to the offense but you just don't know about him healthwise. It wouldn't be unreasonable to expect the offense to be a top 5 NL offense. Pitching is another story. Gallardo, Lohse, Peralta, and Estrada is a pretty good 1-4 but obviously there isn't really an ace in the group. They will keep us in most games. Thornburg or Nelson as the 5th starter should be pretty good as 5th starters go. The bullpen is a crapshoot from year to year. I would think they would be capable of being a middle of the road pitching staff depending on the offseason moves for the bullpen and possibly a starting pitcher. Having a potentially very strong offense and middle of the road pitching staff doesn't scream total rebuild to me; and we aren't even to December yet. DM almost always makes offseason moves to try to improve the big league team. And if history tells us anything; DM will address what he percieves to be the team's biggest shortcoming. Obviously pitching was the biggest issue in 2013.
  20. They just got crushed at home by the freaking Bobcats and are now 2-10. I just hope they don't go out and win by 6 of 8 and get Hammond actually believing again that they could sneak into the playoffs. This team is bad and it was asking way to much to integrate so many new players under a new coach. I think they are good enough that they won't have the most ping pong balls but they should have a realistic shot at the top spot. Even without the top pick you have to feel pretty good about who will be there at 1-5. Wiggins, Parker, Randle, and Smart all look like the real deal and then you add in the guy from Australia that everyone seems to love. If they get in the Top #5 they should get a really really good player. I would prefer Wiggins, Parker, or Randle so please get a Top #3 pick.
  21. I agree with all that I will be shocked if Khris Davis isn't a huge part of the team. I wouldn't be suprised if he was in some sort of soft platoon where he gets maybe 5 out of every 7 games but he will almost certainly get a lot of time. Aoki just doesn't strike me as a useful bench player; he needs to get the AB's. He won't hit for power and is only average defensively and I don't know if his OBP can carry over to a part time role. I would have no objections going with say Schaefer and Gindl as our backup OF.
  22. McCann should put up some pretty solid numbers with that short porch in RF when he is actually on the field. I am already visualizing McCann going ape crap when it takes Big Papi about 3 minutes to round the bases.
  23. Anyone have experience with the no contract cell phone carriers like Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, etc. Thinking about switching my wife's plan from a contract plan at US Cellular and only paying $50-60 a month for unlimited talk, text, and data seems like a really good deal even if you have to pay more up front for your phone. You still come out way ahead over a 2 year period even if you spend $200-$250 on the phone. I don't think you can get a unlimited data plan with a contract for anything less than $100/month nowadays.
  24. Hammond should already be calling teams if they have an interest inany of the veterns. Mayo, Ersan, and Neal would seem to have some appeal but it isn't likely the Bucks would get a 1st round pick for any of them either. Mayo and Zaza have played OK so far; the signing of Neal and trade of Butler already seem terrible 10 games in.
  25. ... while they continue to suck. It would be one thing if they were winning; its quite another when they are terrible and still playing no upside veterans over their hot shot draft pick that they have hyped up since draft day.
