  1. You certainly can do a lot worse than a .750 OPS against lefties.
  2. I don't really care anymore. Braun was the only one that Bosch previously addressed with the media and at that time he backed Braun's story. So I guess it is plausible that Bosch might repeat that again while also proving the guilt of the other guys. Yeah it is probably unlikely but if Bosh continues to back up Braun it would hilarious to see 20 other guys suspended but not Braun Again that probably won't happen and I am fully prepared to see Braun sit for a long time. This season is lost anyways; might as well go for a top 5 pick next year. At least this time it will be Braun + 20 other guys so the media outrage won't simply be trying to bury Braun.
  3. Kohl was pretty adamant that there wont be a total rebuild so it is probably going to take a miracle to get out the NBA wasteland of 7-10 seeds
  4. Bradley with a promising start thus far. 6 K's through 5
  5. There are a lot of really nice players on that list. From what I can tell the Brewers drafted Escobar, Gamel, LaPorta, Lawrie, and Jeffress. 5 in the Top 100 is pretty solid. Of course of those 5 probably only Escobar would be considered a nice MLB player right now.
  6. That would have been one heck of a trivia question. No one in a million years could have gotten that without having to look it up. I forgot Kevin Reimer ever existed
  7. No bump after the kids gets 6 hits in a game? Now leads the league in ave and is probably a lock for the all star game. If Jean keeps playing like this in his first full year it is going to awfully tough for him to live up the expectations in Year #2 and beyond. Just an incredible trade thus far. He, Gomez, and Braun are basically the only reasons I am watching the games anymore
  8. I don't the problem is that we are drafting crappy prospects; the problem is that we don't know what to do with them once we have them. I don't think there were too many cases where scouts that we seriously overreached on a pitcing prospect in the early rounds. That means they were qualified to be there. The problem is that once we drafted them they all went to ****. I don't know if we are changing these kids mechanics or deliveries but something we are doing is leading to these kids falling apart quickly (save for a few). I mean there were reasons that Arnett, Bradley, Jungmann, etc were 1st round picks; there talent at the time said they were
  9. Well since we already have all star calibur players like Braun, Gomez, Aoki. and Segura I don't know that we necessarily need any all star hitters out of our minor league system in order to field a good offense. Their probably aren't any all star level hitters in AA or AAA but I think at least one or two of Taylor, Haniger, Roache, Reed, and Coulter at WI can turn into that type of player. Jimmy Nelson and Ariel Pena are exciting to me; maybe not all stars either but they could easily become the equivalent of a Gallardo (#2 type pitcher). There are others pitchers that have a chance as well but their seasons this year aren't going all that great. Lopez in WI would be an example. The point being is that the minor league system is not as bare as people think; there isn't a guy like Braun in there but there are plenty of guys that can be above average MLB players. Besides Melvin is always finding nice players through transactions. Aoki, Gomez, Segura, Ramirez, etc. I am confident ath DM will continue to field a team worth rooting for. Some years will be good and some years will suck but its not like we are the 2002 Brewers that is so devoid of talent that it was utterly hopeless
  10. My general feeling as this. The last 5 years have easily been the best Brewers run since I have been a fan and really since I have been alive. We didn't win or even make a World Series but we were two games away and that season was incredibly fun. This team has drafted two HOF players in Braun & Fielder, traded for HOF talents like Sabathia and Grienke (Not necessarily HOF but very talented), and in general have tried to put out the best possible team they could every single year. Yes this has come somewhat at the expense of the farm system and the lack of pitching talent is well documented. However the Brewers still have a huge amount of talent on this team that is no where near the decline phase yet. There are some decisions to be made on players that are at that point but we still have a strong core. I believe this team can remain competitive for a long time and our pitching isn't nearly as bad as they are performing right now. There are some promising players in MILB that can supplement our strong core in the next 2-3 years. This year has been incredibly dissappointing but I am chalking it up more to underperformance than lack of overall talent. I still watch most of the games and it is very entertaining to watch Segura, Braun, Aoki, Gomez, and Ramirez. I follow the minor leagues closer than anyone I know and I feel confident that the stable of minor leaguers we have along with our major league talent will keep us competitve. Maybe not win a World Series competitive but perhaps make the playoffs every 2 or 3 years and never lose 90 games type of competitive.
  11. I am guessing that RR and DM won't be on the hotseat unless we finish with like 90 losses. I think they still have enough goodwill with Mark A after getting with 2 games of the World Series in 2011. That being said Mark A does take this team in his own hands sometimes (mostly with FA's) so I think he defintely has the balls to clean house if he thinks its necessary. But I think the odds are pretty long that DM or RR are gone this year. We probably need to stink again next year before anybody outside of a hitting or pitching coach gets fired. DM may have an opportunity to pick up some talent at the trade deadline this year. He fleeced LAA last year and I am hoping he can do the same again this year although he doesn't have a Grienke at his disposal.
  12. Yeah if they can fire the bullpen coach last season for no reason they certainly can fire Kranitz even if it isn't his fault. I tend to believe that the pitching staff has a lot more talent than what they are showing right now and that does reflect on the coaching
  13. I have to imagine Kranitz's days are numbered unless there is a substantial turnaround quickly. Consecutive seasons with one of the worst pitching staffs in the league despite having guys such as Gallardo, Lohse, Marcum and Grienke tends to get people fired.
  14. We don't really have a choice but to stick with Peralta especially now with Fiers at least temporarily taking a spot from Lohse. I highly doubt that DM would dip into the AA ranks and anything we pull up from AAA isn't going to be any better. Although I do like the thought of bringing up Hellweg just because I want to see him
  15. The better argument for fixing would have been if Orlando won due to their loss of Howard. That being said having #1 this year doesn't mean a whole lot. There isn't a superstar in the bunch and the guy who is likely to go #1 tore his ACL last year and doesn't have much of an offensive game. The top 5-7 prospects are all about the same to me this year. No locks or superstars; just a bunch of role players IMO.
  16. Bianchi would probably be lucky to OPS 700 over the course of a full MLB season. That isn't to say he isn't a viable replacement for Weeks though since I am sure his defense is superior. Bianchi could be a stop gap for a year or two but he isn't a guy you pencil in at 2nd for the next 5 years. Frankly I don't see a big difference between Bianchi and Scooter. Both have no power whatsoever but have decent OBP skills and are at least adequate at 2nd. If I had to choose I would go with Gennet because I personally think he has a bit more upside.
  17. Rickie's complete loss of speed since a couple years ago really is rather incredibly. He sure isn't getting to many infield hits any more. I am hesitant to call him Bill Hall Part 2 yet; but clearly is sliding towards irrelavance quickly. I am just hoping that if he doesn't figure it out this year that RR and DM make darn sure his 2015 option doesn't vest. Don't give him PA's just to give him PA's. Get someone else in here whether it be Gennet or some FA. Weeks may be an expensive bench player in 2014 but that is better than having to pay him in 2015 to be just as bad. I am hoping he turns it around; but even then I hope that 2012 and 2013 teaches DM and RR that Weeks can't really be trusted to consistently produce any more and that they should hedge their bets in 2014 and get some competition for him.
  18. While the inconsistent offense has been troublesome; its not the reason we suck. MIL has the worst ERA, worst WHIP, has given up the most hits in the NLm and is near the bottom in strikeouts. If the pitching staff was even average right now we would be fine. I have a hard time blaming that on Ron. He really doesn't seem to have much at his disposal right now especially in the starting rotation. There isn't anyone else to use right now.
  19. Nate Silver is the commencement speaker at my alma mater this weekend (Ripon College). Thats pretty cool.
  20. It appears that Mr. Pena might have figured something out. 4 innings and only one hit so far
  21. Pretty amazing that Aoki, Segura, Braun, Gomez, and Ramirez are all at or around 300 or better and we still suck. The pitching looks like it will be our downfall again. I am guessing being skipped in the rotation screwed up Burgos. Our entire pitching staff save for like 3.5 guys basically sucks.
  22. Well someone made it seem to Segura that it wasn't going to be close.
  23. At some point Rob Wooten needs to get a chance. Their aren't exactly a lot of dominant relievers in Milwaukee that are blocking him.
  24. I have no problems with RR at all. In comparison to the likes of Macha and Yost I much prefer RR's style. His hands are tied a bit at the moment given the injuries but he seems to have managed the circumstances pretty well. He, like all managers from time to time, has some questionable in game calls. His entire bullpen has basically sucked for two straight years now; there isn't much a manager can do if he has basically zero trustworthy options out there. Its Melvin's job to actually get him some talent back there. I think he has been been dealt some awfully crappy pitching and he has done what he could. His offenses have been pretty good and I like his aggressive baserunning style even if he does squeeze a little too much.
  25. That was just an incredibly unlucky game overall. Those are really tough to take.
