  1. I could see a mystery team for sure. I wouldn't mind taking Marte, Cole, or Tallieon off of the Pirates hands
  2. Atleast Fiers has shown consistently good K/9 numbers throughout his MILB and MLB career. In terms of prospects; Fiers probably would have rated much higher than Quintana coming into this year. And you are right; Melvin would be crazy to accept somebody at best the equivalent of Fiers as the centerpiece for Grienke
  3. I think the swearing thread on the political forum would crash at that point then
  4. Is there any doubt that that Brewerfan server is going to crash when a trade actually happens?
  5. Just reading a TEX message board and someone said that LAA has restructured there rotation and now Sunday is TBD. I checked MLB.Com and there pitcher Sunday is shown as TBD.
  6. This is just getting ridiculous; someone needs to leak something so we have something to talk about
  7. Atleast the Brewers have copies of contracts to look at and don't need to rely on Fed Ex. Melvin is keeping his negotiations incredibly tight lipped.
  8. KNowing absolutely nothing about Henderson's stuff I was expecting some soft tosser. I figured a guy throwing 95 with a solid ERA would have been up a long time ago and well before Dillard, Perez, McClendon, Etc. I too am baffled how this guy stayed in AAA so long. Maybe he doesn't work out but that one inning of his was arguably more impressive than any inning from one of our fringe bullpen guys all year.
  9. The Marlins are supposedly asking for a Tiexiera like package. If that is what they are asking for; Johnson will still be on the team in August. Personally I think they would be stupid to trade him.
  10. Thanks for the info. The prospect world is littered with guys with great stuff that never translates to good performance; I guess that is what would scare me with Perez. But he is only 21; you could definitely leave him and AAA all next year if need be. If Baseball America has him that high than obviously the guy has the arm.
  11. Can I ask what is so special about Perez? Obviously he is still extremely young (21) and is already in the upper minors but his results aren't all that great yet. Very mediocre K/9 & WHIP. I am not sure why he is ranked so highly by Baseball America (#31); can someone help me out? Justin Grimm looks like a pretty damn good prospect based on the numbers he is putting up and he also recently got promoted to AAA. That could be two pillars of our rotation who are in AAA right now; but someone needs to convince me that Perez wil actually figure it out
  12. There has been squat on rumors for Grienke this morning. DM must have locked himself in a room until he gets a deal done. I really don't see this going on past due. The purchaser would like to have Grienke fly in tomorrow so he can get atleast somewhat acclimated prior to starting Sunday. Although depending on who purchases I suppose Grienke's slot might not come until Monday or Tuesday which could push back the timeline for a trade. The utter lack of rumors on this is just maddening. The Sanchez/Turner trade came without any warning at all; I think it will be similar here.
  13. This argument seems to be going around in a circle here........ And there is no way of knowing FA's that have passed over larger deals to sign elsewhere because not all offers are made public.
  14. 1) Any contract for Grienke would be no where near 1/3rd of the payroll unless you think Grienke is going to get $27 Million a year 2) And how do we know the Brewers won't be competitve next year? It is July of 2012.
  15. So you just felt like qouting one part of my post without reading the rest? Nice. If the Brewers put a competitive offer (basically equal to other offers) out there than I wouldn't be suprised if he comes back; but like I said the odds of the Brewers having a competitive offer aren't very good.
  16. Personally I think the pressure of winning near the trade deadline and the thought of possibly getting traded are wearing on the team right now. Once next Wednesday comes I think they loosen up a bit. I don't think players have quit; the bullpen just sucks. I am generally been an RR fan; the only big issue with him is he bunts way to damn much. I really like how he handles the other part of his duties but he does play for one run a little too much. It has worked a number of times but teams are catching on and making it harder to execute.
  17. The Crew has just as good of odds of signing Grienke as any other team. Offer the most money and he'll come back. Obviously the odds of the Brewers offering the most money are not very good. There won't be any discount to come back to the Brewers thats for sure. This is an opportunity that comes along once in a lifetime for a pitcher; can't blame him for seeking other opportunities. Honestly he seems to like the management side of baseball and probably is really curious to go through the process with teams. I wouldn't be suprised if Grienke comes back; but I am certainly not counting on it. The market would have to be seriously depressed this offseason to bring Grienke down to the level MIL can pay.
  18. That was discussed yesterday. I suppose there could be a chance of that happening but I think the idea kind of fizzled yesterday (On here at least). Haven't hear a peep or new rumor since that one.
  19. Man if Olt could actually play a passable RF. Then it would make sense to send off one of Gomez, Morgan, or Aoki to Texas. Olt is the guy I want; I probably would be happy with others but I would really like to see Olt in a Brewers uniform. He could potentially play 3b, 1b, or RF in 2013 depending on where MIL would need him. I had no idea he could play RF though.
  20. I don't think I want that guy; just screams Turd Sandwich to me. The money is obviously on TEX and ATL at this point. The White Soz have to be in distant 3rd just because they have nothing to offer. Maybe LAA sneaks in here at some point. I think Grienke will be gone by noon tomorrow.
  21. It seems like the Andrus thing might be a bit overblown based on what TH just said However he also just noted that Melvin has been getting calls on Aram and Hart but would have to be blown away to trade either of them.
  22. I just don't understand the frustrations with demoting Jeff Bianchi. He is a fringe MLB player at best who by all accounts isn't a very good defensive SS. Yes Izturis and Ransom aren't exactly good but when our SS this year since Agon have been Ransom, Izturis, Bianchi, Maysonet who really cares they are all fringe players who should be like the 24/25th guy on the team.
  23. That would probably work but I don't think I want to part with Ax; he is the only guy in the pen with any potential.
  24. So many things can happen in two years that is virtually impossible to know what this team will look like in 2015. I am all for trying to win in 2013 and 2014 and Andrus would certainly help out the cause. If Profar isn't realistic why not go for the proven MLB guy that you would control for a minimum of 2 years. We have been saying the window is closing for like the last 2 years now and it still hasn't closed. I have no problems extending the window another two years; I like winning baseball. Just hope and pray that some of the pitching in MILB pans out at the MLB level or atleast can be parlayed into some other MLB talent. I like Melvin's approach here. With Andrus we would have a damn good offense still and we would finally have that guy at the top of the lineup. EDIT: Basically I don't tihnk a full blown rebuild is necessary because the Brewers still have enough pieces to reasonably contend in the next several years. I see no reason to blow up the team and have a couple horrible years; there is enough talent to both reload the farm system and also field a good MLB team.
  25. So what would the going rate for an Andrus extension be? He has no power but gets on base at a nice clip and has some speed. I don't know that it would be some absurd number would it?
