  1. Well I am sure the MIL voter will put Braun 1st if he deserves it. He will get some 1st place votes; but if any voters just leave him off the ballet or put him lower than 4th he won't have much of a shot because Posey and Hollliday won't be put any lower than than on any ballet.
  2. I am also not giving Braun much of a shot. Even though he might out OPS Holliday and Posey by a significant margin; the PED issue is gauranteed to lose him some votes. And honestly this Brewers run still hasn't been recognized nationally all that much so if the Brewers don't make the playoffs or it doesn't come down to the last 1-2 games I just don't see Braun being considered much. I could see a lot of people voting him 2nd; they will recognize that he had a great year but they don't want him to win it because of the PED issue. If someone votes him any lower than 4th than it is a crime because there sure as hell aren't 3 or more guys having better years than Braun.
  3. Its not just the Cards we have to worry about LAD is right there too. I think it would be unrealistic to expect both STL and LAD to slump here at the end. Thats why I think 7-3 8-2 is pretty much mandatory on the road trip. And that isn't even considering the upcoming NYM series which they have to win a minimum of 2 games. It would be great if they could avoid Dickey in that series. Don't get me wrong I am excited; but it is a more tempered enthusiasm. I think we are fully capable of catching both STL and PIt since STL has major injury issues and PIT has major suck issues. The team I don't know that we can catch is LAD. Not to mention PHI who we are tied with.
  4. I doubt most people outside of MIL even know who Aoki is so I am going to say he is a longshot regardless of where the Brewers finish up. It will be Miley or Harper most likely; whether they would deserve over Aoki is another story. Aoki's success has been under the radar
  5. I am optimistic but the upcoming roadtrip is keeping me from getting to excited. If they could somehow be within 2 games going into the last homestand aginst HOU and SD that would be ideal. However that means they probably have to win today and at a minimum go 6-3 or 7-2 on the roadtrip through CIN, PIT, and WAS. That is going to be extremely unlikely. Yes PIT has fallen off a cliff but winning series against CIN and WAS, the two best teams in the NL, is going to be a huge task.
  6. I just look back at the KC series and the Philly Series and I just get so mad. If we go 5-1 in those games like we should have or even just 4-2 then our playoff picture looks very strong. As it stands it is still a long shot.
  7. I don't see any need to pick up any positional players. Our offense is stacked and we have depth in the minor leagues for bench spots. Starting rotations will very likely include Gallardo, Fiers, and Rogers. Thornburg & Peralta will probably battle for a 4th spot. Would really like DM to pick up a sold 2/3 starter through some sort of trade (Or sign Grienke or Marcum). The bullpen is where the real issues come in. I think Loe and Axford should be back. Estrada should be permanently moved to the bullpen as a 6th/7th inning guy. Doug needs to find a way to get 2 upper echelon relievers. I don't know how he will but he needs to. If he does that there is no doubt in my mind that the Brewers can be World Series contenders next year. If we could have gotten 2011 performances out of the bullpen this year we probably would own a playoff spot right now. The offense still projects to be very good next year; it would be foolish to not go for it in 2013 and find someway to improve the pitching staff.
  8. I have to imagine if Hart would sign a crazy cheap 2/24 extension that he would demand a no trade clause. That contract obviously says Hart values keeping his family in one place rather than accepting more money somewhere else. If Hart would sign for 2/24 I really think it is a no brainer and I wouldn't care if they gave him some sort of no trade clause. He could decline and still easily be worth that contract.
  9. Hunter Morris might be the Southern League MVP this year; I don't think he needs a few more years. If keeps this up in 2013; he absolutely needs a spot on the team in 2014.
  10. Does it really matter if you flip flor Lucroy and Weeks. IF they are both playing well then our lineup is crazy awesome no matter where you put them. A top 6 of Aoki, Weeks, Braun, Ramirez, Hart, and Lucroy is really really good. Plus if you had decent production out of Gomez and Segura there really isn't a hole in the lineup. Granted someone could have a bad year but next years lineup is shaping up to be pretty damn impressive no matter how RR decides to line them up. Debating between Weeks and Lucroy at 2/6 seems to be splitting hairs
  11. Yeah I think Votto has just missed too much time. The counting stats just wont be there for him
  12. I love Hunter Morris so much. I liked the pick originally but I never imagined this type of year for him. He was pretty mediocre last year. Can't wait until he gets a shot in MIL.
  13. Even if it is virtually impossible to win the Triple Crown; no one is actually going to give credit to Melky for the batting title. So in essensnce if Braun wins the HR and RBI titles and finishes 2nd in BA; that might be enough to win MVP. He is going to need to have a really strong September though. He needs to get 40+ HR's and get that BA above .320 to have a chance IMO. It also wouldn't hurt if Pitt falls on there face. I think it is a 4 horse race between Braun, McCutchen, Holliday, and Posey.
  14. Even though this recent hot streak is hurting the draft position; at least it is showing that perhaps the Brewers aren't really all that far away from competing again. The offense is obviously good enough.
  15. Aoki would have been out by 40 feet yesterday on Braun's double and Sedar was waiving him around. Pretty hard to have 3 straight hits to start a game and not score.
  16. I would also prefer to keep Hart on a 3 year extension rather than trade him unless you get a prospect that is very close to the big leagues and is at an area of need. I don't think a Ramirez like extension would be that out of line. Hart is a very good player. That being said; we do have some good prospects at 1st base that could step in next year (Gamel, Morris, Halton) although their performance is much more unpredictable. If some team that is desperate for offense would offer a really good pitching prospect that could play in MIL in 2013 or Mid 2014 at the latest I would at least have to consider it. But it would have to about a near can't miss prospect as there is and I don't know if anyone would give that up for a year of Hart.
  17. Braun leads the NL in HR by a wide margin, leads the league in OPS, is tied for the league lead in RBI, and is in the Top 10 in both BA & OBP yet he really hasn't been in the MVP discussion. With McCutchen falling back to earth there doesn't appear to be a frontrunner at all. I would hope Braun would be included in the conversation with McCutcheon, Holliday, and Posey. I think Braun will need a monster September to win MVP and some sub par performances from the others given the offseason drama; but the season he has put together is rather remarkable.
  18. They should inquire about Marcum
  19. Beckett is an OK pickup at the price they have him for through 2013. Punto doesn't count. So they essentially traded a couple good prospects and need to hope that Gonzalez is worth over $200 Million over the next 6 years because Crawford is awfully close to a sunk cost. Gonzalez will be 36 by the time his deal is done; this is certain to end badly for LAD. If they want to add $260 Million in payroll sure go ahead; but I think they could have made better use of that money. Its even worse that they had to give of prospects in the deal. Maybe they are the new Yankees and normal rules don't apply I just don't think they can keep this up for an extended period of time.
  20. If they were all doping and Lance was still that much better than everyone; then he probably just had better drugs. I don't think it is as obvious as someone like Barry Bonds or Sammy Sosa; but I still tend to believe he did it. Even if he did dope I still feel his feats were rather incredible though.
  21. He is too old to race anymore any way and he has probably said enough is enough. Just move on with his life. Considering the doping issues in cycling I find it hard to believe that he was so dominant without cheating. I can't fault him that much because the whole sport was doing it but there is no doubt in my mind that he did. He and Barry Bonds absolutely dominated their respective sports at the height of the drug scandals. There is simply no way that they were naturally that much better than the people who were cheating trying to catch them.
  22. Park & Rec is so awesome. I still love the old Office re runs from a couple seasons ago; I just absolutely did not like the last season; really ever since Saber came along.
  23. Ouch it is his birthday today? I am sure Wolf will still manage to have a fun day today; he has many millions of reasons to. Probably long over due; while he was crappy this year he was very important to the teams success in 2011 and for that reason he will have a special place in my Brewers memory. He was worth the money in 2010 and 2011 but just fell apart this year.
  24. I have the Beatles song "When I'm 64" stuck in my head right now and its driving me crazy. Also from my vantage point at the Packer game last night I had two observations 1. Graham Harrel isn't very good 2. The obesity problem facing the US cannot be understated. My gosh there were a lot of big people; I think they had to buy 2 seats just to fit.
