  1. People that liked what RR was doing last year because we were winning and are having a problem blaming him this year that we are losing aren't any different than the people saying we were winning despite him last and this year we are losing because of him. Either you like him or you don't. He is worlds better than any manager in recent memory at least in my opinion. I think RR is a good manager that perhaps plays it by the book in the bullpen a bit to often. He doesn't hesititate to move around the lineup to accomodate struggling players and he doesn't hesitate to move people on the bases. I personally like that. If he has one fault it is definitely that he plays it by the book too much with the bullpen. I just can't bring myself to putting a whole lot of blame on the manager right now due to the extenuating circumstances. He has hitting coaches and pitching coaches that should be correcting the mistakes of the poorly performing players. Maybe he hired some crappy coaches I don't know; but it is hard to blame RR for Weeks not hitting or Gallardo walking a million guys.
  2. You are probably right there. The Bucks have been far better in the 2nd round than the 1st. It is rather amazing that virtually all stars in the NBA were extremely high draft picks. You would think a later pick would sneak up on some people like always happens in NFL and MLB; but it just doesn't happen in the NBA. Not sure if there is a good explanation for it either.
  3. Gallardo definitely shouldn't be off the table; but you can't really do that unless some other rotation spots are solidified. Realy Gallardo is the only guy currently in the rotation that would be a lock for the 2013 rotation. You can't trade him without having some certainty for the other spots. Really Braun is probably the only untradeable player on the Crew right now; everyone else could and should be traded if the price is right.
  4. Both Gallardo and Wolf have underperfomed too. I don't blame injuries nearly as much as underperformance by key players. However losing solid players at 1B and SS for the entire year has definitely hurt. However if Weeks, Morgan, Krod, and Axford were anything like they were last year we would be a hell of a lot closer to .500 and respectability than we are now. The whole season is spiraled out of control for a number of reasons. It is looking more and more like one of those years where nothing goes right.
  5. Milwaukee Bucks last 10 1st Round Picks: 2011 - Tobias Harris (TBD; likely role player at best) 2010 - Larry Sanders (Role player at best) 2009 - Brandon Jennings (Ok PG; probably Top 15 in League, good pick) 2008 - Joe Alexander (Think he works at Burger King now) 2007 - Yi Jianlan (not with team; role player at best) 2006 - No first round pick 2005 - Andrew Bogut (Good Pick) 2004 - No first round pick) 2003 - TJ Ford (Out lof league, back problems) 2002 - Marcus Haislip (Think he works at Hardees now) That is exactly 2 good picks allbeit with no all star appearances out of the last 10 years and virtually all of them were Top 15 picks with 6 being in the top 10. This is why the Bucks have been a middling crappy franchise
  6. They are going to have a ridiculous amount of money to spend this offseason if they so choose. I don't think it is possible right now to predict 2013. If they sit back and don't spend we aren't going to contend. 2013 could still be entertaining though with a new wave of prospects up. Right now this team looks like it has a lot of holes to fill for 2013; even with all that money it still looks like it would be an uphill battle to field a Division Championship team. However if Weeks comes back in 2013 and we get good performance out of Lucroy, Braun, Ramirez and Hart the offense will be good enough. The big question mark is the pitching; both starters and the bullpen. Both will probably be overhauled pretty substantially
  7. RR makes curious decisions from time to time; but so does just about every other manager. Yes that doesn't excuse the mistakes when they happen but I truly believe RR is doing the best he can with what he has at his disposal right now. There are atleast 5 or 6 guys that have no business being on a contending team right now. The Parra decision on Wed was questionable at best. Yes Parra had a really good inning; but that also hasn't stopped him from falling apart before. I probably would have stuck with him though. I mean really if you are an MLB manager and you have to try to win games with the 25 man roster the Brewers have right now it is going to be tough. There are 5 guys who shouldn't be here and another 10-15 guys that aren't living up to expectations. Some of that does fall on the coaching staff but some of it is just ridiculously bad luck or whatever you want to call it. It just sucks.
  8. From everything I have read; drafting White that high would be a pretty big reach. I wouldn't be opposed to trading down and taking him if Hammond doesn't like what is left on the board at #12. Atleast right now it seems that Hammond is hell bent on drafting a big guy and that scares the crap out of me.
  9. Weeks will never be a terrible extension IMO. He was well worth it at the time and there was nothing in his history to indicate he would flame out. Hall is entirely different; he had much less success over the long haul in MILB and MLB.
  10. I don't think the Hardy for Gomez trade was that much of a reach. After the horrible years Hardy had in MIL and MIN no one would have taken the bet that Hardy would be where he is now. It really is a butterfly effect, if that trade never happened 2011 might have never happened. You just don't know. Suppan is far and away Melvin's biggest mistake. I don't know that he really has made any huge blunders on trades. Melvin is definitely at a cross roads; he has been used to winning for the last 5 years and we will find out soon enough if he is willing to sacrifice this year for the future. Melvin is hardly on the hotseat so I think he would be willing to sell if it came to that.
  11. O come on there is less than 0% chance that we sign Josh Hamilton. Not that I want Narron fired; but that is no reason at all to keep a hitting coach around. We have a bunch of players performing very poorly right now;I put the blame squarly on them rather then the coaches. However coaches usually are the fall guys so at a minimum I wouldn't expect Narron back in 2013 if this continues
  12. I don't understand why anyone would actually want Sullinger. He is a short center who has no jumping ability or long range shot. Where exactly is he going to play? It may have worked against college level talent but he won't be able to get his shot off or rebound in the NBA when he is extremely underized. He is like Jon Brockman. He may not be a fat tub of lard like Tractor Traylor but he is going in with a major competitive disadvantage. The best you can hope for is Dajuan Blair.
  13. I don't know that I would trade him for anyone unless God plays a good SS.
  14. I have never had any issues with any Brewers personnel. They are seat nazis on the lower levels but that is there job. I attended a game in PIt a few years ago with seats about 10 rows up from the Brewers dugout. After a long rain delay there were about 5,000 people left and the ushers still wouldn't let us move closer to the bench. Same at all ballparks I suppose. With 99% of the people in the world, if you are curteous and nice to them; they will reciprocate.
  15. I agree; Meyers Leonard just screams bust. Like Joe Alexander level bust. I hear the Bucks connected to Austin Rivers and Tyler Zeller quite a bit; I would much prefer Rivers as I think that is a bigger need. I like Udoh at the C position over Zeller
  16. With the Crew only 4.5 games out of first; this thread should be temporarily shelved. Way to close for the Brewers to consider shopping anybody. We should know in the next 2-3 weeks whether the Crew will be buyers or sellers. If sellers Grienke will probably be at the top of the list since he will bring the most return back of anybody the Crew would realistically trade.
  17. You can't really do much about the Reds and Cards in June though because you aren't playing them a lot. So long as the Brewers win a lot of games things will work themselves out. The goal has to be .500 or above by the end of the month. I would guess that would be good enough to be within 4 games or so but the Reds or Cards could get crazy hot or they could go on a losing streak as well.
  18. Hammonds is the king of the re-tread move. How many times as he signed or traded for a player only to ship them out a year later after realizing he has made a mistake? Maggette, Jackson, Etc. It is hard to be successful without some continuity. The huge amount of turnover for the Bucks is largely because Hammond has made so many mistakes that he feels he has to constantly correct. The Bucks have some solid players; but you get the feeling they will always be mediocre.
  19. I thought he looked a little better in LA. Still struggled to make contact but he hit a couple balls pretty solid. I am still OK with RR just riding the cold stretch out. I like Taylor Green but it also isn't like he is lighting the world on fire either. His OBP is only marginally better than Weeks althought obviously it is a small sample size.
  20. I would be on board with Rivers for sure. He seems like a good fit.
  21. I really don't think there is going to be anybody at #12 that could improve the Bucks beyond mediocrity. There isn't anyone out there that is going to get them past the 1st round of the playoffs. That being said I think the priority needs to be SG or SF and of course to keep Ersan. We don't need any more development 4/5s. Udoh, Gooden, Leuer, Sanders, and Ersan are good enough to hold down the 4/5 spots IMO. They need some athletic 2 or 3 that can make a jump shot but also is capable of getting into the lane.
  22. This year I don't think it tickets sales much. Most tickets are already sold; September would like be pretty poor but I would be surprised if attendance didn't get at least close to 3 million. 2013 is an entirely different story and you can't really speculate right now. Doug will have a lot of money to spend this offseason and it will probably be a very different team in 2013. That could excite the fan base again. It has been a long time since this team has been in sell mode. I never expected to not have these types of years every once in a while so this won't effect by long term decisions on attending games. Whether or not the Brewers are good; attending Brewer games seems to be the "hip" thing to do now. It is more than just the Brewers; it is the experience of going to the games.
  23. Lucroy is hitting frickin .350 now for cripes sake. Certainly didn't think he was capable of being this type of offensive player. Won't hit 350 all year but 320 or so seems realistic. Thats awesome for a catcher. I can't remember the last time the Brewers had a C that was this talented offensively.
  24. Isn't Maysonet like 0-21 after he started 3-3? I don't like Izturiz either; but he is still better long term than Maysonet
