  1. When I watched the Illusionist, I could not buy into Jessica Biel as royalty. She seemed way out of her league, and unable to match the performances of Giamatti and Norton. I still enjoyed the movie, and while the ending wasn't much of a suprize, the political back-story was enough to hold my attention. As a matter of fact, from time to time, the political angle was enough to make me question whether the storybook ending was indeed where the story was headed. And I know I'm late to the game on this one, but I also watched the first 3 episodes of season 1 of The Wire. Enjoyed it very much, and am pretty much hooked (thanks to those on this site who turned me onto it).
  2. Jack@$$ Number 2 Disgusting, vile, hilarious at times. I found it amusing that every time one of the guys would drop his pants for any reason, you could always count on there being at least one festering sore or blister on his backside. Penicillin, anyone? Gridion Gang I actually enjoyed this movie, despite at least 5 real eye-roll moments. But I guess if you want to watch realistic football, watch a football game, not a movie. It wasn't until the movie was over, and they played actual footage of the real life characters that I realized that this movie should have been a documentary. The "real" Sean Porter has a more commanding screen presence than "the Rock". And I was move moved by the "real" kids than I was by any of the actors. The Descent I went in with such high hopes for this movie, after being told how scary it was. And it was pretty tense, until the nocturnal cave dwellers started eating everyone. I think this would have been a much better movie had the monsters been downplayed, and the psychological angst of being trapped in a cave had been focused on more. Wicker Man Don't watch this movie alone, because you need someone to help you make fun of it. Terrible performances all around. I've never seen the original, but I want to see it now, so that I can hate this version even more.
  3. Bump. Pretty strong hour-long christmas episode last night. Kevin's Karoke version of "You Oughta Know" was the highlight for me.
  4. The fax prank was great. I also liked when Michael was talking about how special his employees are. How they don't, "grow on trees", while you see Stanley dozing off at his desk and Phyllis doing some knitting. I also found the practice confrontation between Michael and Dwight to be very funny. Especially Dwight's reaction just before they cut to the next scene....after Michael told him to be more intimidated.
  5. The stupid plastic wrappers that are put on rental DVDs. 50% of the time, the disc won't play on my DVD player. There has to be a better way to protect the disc than this.
  6. as long as Jones continues to pitch all will be fine. Problem is (as Mass Haas stated earlier) that if Mike Jones doesn't start getting people out, he won't be pitching any longer...he may find himself sent home. So while I think we all agree that Mike's health is more important than results right now, he does need some positive results to stay on his team.
  7. Ryan Braun hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning as Scottsdale beat the visiting Peoria Saguaros, 7-4, in the season opener for both teams. Nice to see Braun picking up where he left off a few weeks ago.
  8. The Tigers radio announcers are nuts with their "we" and "us" references. I am so glad for Uecker and Powell.
  9. Nice to see Chris Coste (Indianapolis '04) having success with the Phillies. In 148 ABs he has an .885 OPS including 6 homers. He'll probably be hunting for a spring training invite again this winter, but who knows...maybe there is a 40-man spot in Philadelphia for him?
  10. Bit of a rough outing for Jeremy Jeffress today. 4 hits and 4 walks in 2 innings. Still struck out 3 batters, so I guess it wasn't a total wash. 25 people in attendance for the Baby Brewers....must have been a bobble-head giveaway game.
  11. This game is an absolute must-win if the Brewers ever hope to be 17-13 this season.
  12. I accept full credit for Jenkins' home run, with my "this game feeds the perception" comment. Thanks for making me look like an idiot, Geoff :-) (for the record, I'm not a Jenkins hater....and I don't drink from the Carlos Lee RBI-flavored koolaid either)
  13. Yeah, because Jenkins yesterday was the only one who could hit anything... I don't want to re-hash the most tired topic at bf.net...but I think these past two games really capture the stereotype that exists around Jenkins and Lee. Jenkins gets 3 hits yesterday, but the brewers score no runs. Lee gets 2 hits today, and drives in 4 runs. It may not be reality, but it's games like this that drive the perception.
  14. Whether it's true or not, games like today just solidify the perception that Carlos Lee is "clutch" and Geoff Jenkins is not.
  15. Not sure if it was noted anwhere else, but Jim Powell just mentioned that Mike Jones complained of "shoulder soreness" after his appearance on Wednesday. What a shame.
  16. If my memory serves me, I can remember several series against the Cards in the past few years where the Cardinals rested several of their regulars in the final game of the series against the Brewers. It will be interesting to see if that happens today.
  17. This game is available on mlb.tv and FSN as well.
  18. Is it just me or is Bob having a great time using this pitchers name? That is almost word-for-word what I was going to post. Winklesas. He's definately putting an extra "s" on the end. :-)
  19. Cirillo at second base. This should be interesting.
  20. "Time for payback... " I'll give you credit clancy....you are hard-core. The concept of payback doesn't even enter into my mind on March 7th.
  21. Any way to listed to Saturday or Sunday's game? MLB. Gameday audio is already switched to today's date and I can't go back. From the Multimedia menu, select Multimedia Guide. The intial screen will have all audio/video selections for the current day. This is the "Today" tab. The next tab to the right is "On Demand". That's the one you want for archives.
