  1. I bought a refurbished Vizio 42" back in February. No issues at all with it. I paid $850 (including shipping). That was about $400 off the regular price. That was the first large-ticket refurbished electronics item I've ever bought. But I've had nothing but positive experiences with refurbished electronics...mostly small items like mp3 players, and the like.
  2. Personally, I hate the phrase. It's been my observation that it is applied almost exclusively to American-born players of light complexion. Like somehow they are the only ones who know how to play the game "the right way". I'm not the kind of person who searches for racism in society...this is just something that I've observed. Your opinion may differ.
  3. It's just one person's opinion....but I found it to be quite interesting.

  5. Just wanted to add this nice Odell Jones summary from another thread to this one (hope mls4 doesn't mind): May 28, 1988: 35-year-old journeyman Odell Jones makes his first start since 1981, filling in for an injured Teddy Higuera. Athough Jones had pitched well so far in only 7 relief appearances that season, and he'd gotten the win 5 days earlier in a 5-inning relief outing replacing Higuera in the 2nd inning, he had spent the whole year prior in the minor leagues, and he had basically bounced back and forth between the minors and the majors his whole career. All that to say, this was a much less likely story even than Dave Bush... but Jones set down the first 22 Indians in order before a walk to Mel Hall ruined the perfect game bid. Noticeably tiring as he reached the 90-pitch mark (he'd only thrown 54 pitches his previous game), but hanging on to the 2-run lead, he retired the final 2 batters of the 8th, and struck out the first batter of the 9th before pinch-hitter Ron Washington dropped a soft opposite-field liner into shallow right. Dan Plesac then came in the game and after an infield single, retired the final two hitters to preserve the 2-hit shutout. This is one of the few games I remember like it was just the other day. Odell Jones may have had a non-descript career, but he has a place in my book of Brewer history.
  6. Bush's flirtation with the no-no today brought back a memory from my childhood. My dad was watching the Brewer game on television, and he asked me if I wanted to see a "possum with no hair"...at least that is what I heard. Turns out that he really asked me if I wanted to see a "Possible No-Hitter". The author of the gem was none other than Odell Jones. I looked up the box score today, and was shocked to find that Jones actually took that no-hitter into the 9th. I thought he lost it much earlier than that. Here's to you, Odell Jones, wherever you are.
  7. Obviously we here are more civil to each other than the posters on the site from the original article. Someone should lock THAT thread.

  10. Oh great...another hipster music thread. I've never heard of any of these bands.
  11. 13 for 22 with 22 total bases. Not a bad start to a career.
  12. I really wish they would do away with the front-court inbound after every time-out in the last two minutes of a game. That really turns me off to the end of an NBA game.
  13. Had a dream last night that I have not had in a while, but it is recurring for me. My teeth become loose and sometimes fall out in my dream. Anyone else have this one?
  14. Count me in the tornado dream club. My tornado dreams are very vivid. In my dream I will recall my previous Tornado dreams and will think....I've dreamed about this before, but this time it's REALLY happening. I usually make it to shelter, just before waking up.
  15. Derrick Turnbow's opponent batting line from 2007: .183 .315 .266 (ba/obp/slg). His 3 year line is .211 .320 .337 I expect that Derrick will find success again at some point in the major leagues, but it will not be in Milwaukee. He definately needs a change of scenery at this point. I cannot dispute that he is terrible at the moment. Remember when we all rejoiced when Glendon Rusch was run out of town after his brutal 2003 in Milwaukee. The next year he rebounded in Chicago, and gave the Cubs 130 innings with a 3.47 ERA. I wish Derrick luck....as long as he lands in the A.L.
  16. Hate to start a whole new thread, but I just noticed that ESPN has picked up the Brewers/Cubs game next Wednesday night. At least for one night, there will be another broadcast option.
  17. The announcer's laugh made me think that Norm MacDonald was in the booth, doing his Bert Reynolds inpersonation.
  18. I have had HD for about a month. I'm already ruined for any standard definition programming. It's sad, but it's true.
  19. On the Bob & Brian show this morning, Brian Anderson and Bill Schroeder said that 65 games would be broadcast in HD this year. Brian also mentioned that they hoped to be 100% HD in 2009.
  20. Ah yes....now instead of over-analyzing every word written about the Brewers, we can start over-analyzing spring training performances :-)
  21. No woot off today....bummer.
  22. When tax rebates were issued in 2001, you needed to claim that as income on your next tax filing, but that is quite different than "Paying it back".
