  1. You can use the following to determine if you will be blacked out from mlb.tv: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp?c_id=mlb#blackout
  2. I don't work for Dish, but I do not believe that you can get the Brewer games with Dish. You would need to get the Extra Innings package, which Dish does not carry. You could use MLB.TV to see the games...since you are outside of the broadcast area. You should not have any blackout issues with mlb.tv
  3. I tried the Proxy server thing a couple of years ago. It was very hit or miss. Sometimes the proxy server would work, other times it would not. It required a lot of trial and error. My wife got so sick of watching me try to get the proxy server set up before every game that she basically ordered me to subscribe to FSN.
  4. Salome certainly doesn't offer much protection for the umpire with his size.
  5. I don't remember the last time I was this excited for a spring training game! I do. It's whenever the first spring training game was last year. I know, it makes no sense to get excited about a meaningless spring training game, but I can't help myself, I get excited every year.
  6. My HDTV was a refurb, so I got it at a deep discount. I've had it for one year and no problems whatsoever. I would buy refurb again. I've never had any issues with refurbished electronics from places like TigerDirect and Buy.com.
  7. We switched the television to split screen during halftime and played Wii until the game started back up...so we had the sound off the halftime show. Personally, I wish that halftime for the Super Bowl was 12 minutes long....just like during the regular season.
  8. Strictly as a Brewer fan, there is probably no difference between Dish and DirecTV. You will get all the games on either one. As mentioned, on Dish, you need to check a range of channels versus having a set channel that all the games are on. Now if you are a baseball fan in general, DirecTV wins because of the availability of the Extra Innings package. You can't get that on Dish...and even if you don't subscribe to it, you will get a free preview of it on DirectTV every season for a couple of days. Also, at the moment, DirecTV carries the MLB Network, and Dish does not. Those differences are not enough for me to switch from Dish to DirecTV, but if I were to go back in time, I would probably choose DirecTV over Dish as a new subscriber.
  9. My guess is that it will be a regular game, but it will be compatible with the Wii Balance Board. I have no factual evidence of that, however.
  10. "Kruger, you couldn't smooth a silk sheet if you had a hot date with a babe.....I lost my train of thought."
  11. Thanks for the link! Christmas shopping was already done, but thanks to these deals, I've got a head start on 2009 birthday present shopping done.
  12. Lots of "uncomfortable" humor in last night's episode...what with the intervention and Phyllis "outing" Dwight and Angela. The Laugh out Loud moment for me came when Michael dragged Merideth into the rehab center, and told the receptionist that he had a "deposit".
  13. Career Versus Milwaukee: .285 .343 .396 Career Overall: .269 .312 .375 He's better against the Brewers, but a couple of white hot streaks that he has had against the Brewers probably cause us to overstate his "Brewer Killer" status.
  14. I've watched just enough Star Trek in my life to be moderately interested by this new movie. I went over to the IMDB page for the movie, and wandered into the discussion threads. What a treat. I fancy myself a bit of a nerd, but I'm not even in the same area code as some of those folks. I stopped reading when the discussion got ugly...someone took exception to the fact that Kirk was driving a car in the trailer for the movie...when he mentioned in episode number "XX" that he knew nothing about cars or how to drive them. Some of the hard-core fans are threatening to boycott the movie....that will paralyze the economy even farther :-)
  15. This is fantastic. I just found a video of his curveball. This thing is awesome. 55 mph in...155 mph out. That highlight function on mlb gameday is awesome. I didn't realize that you could see any play on demand like that. What did we do before the internet?
  16. Then, to believe that he would have the cops called in was unreal and not funny. Michael's irrational hatred of Toby makes just about anything plausible.
  17. What's Bugging me....Asian Beetles. I love the mild weather that we are having in Wisconsin, but we are being overrun by Asian Beetles again. Although I am getting pretty good at flicking them across the kitchen when they land on our island. The only way to effectively get rid of them is to vacuum them up. You can't squish or swat them, because they excrete a smelly liquid when you do. Of course, they excrete the same smelly liquid in the vacuum cleaner bag, so that unless you change the bag after every battle with them, you have the smell of asian beetle juice every time you start the vacuum.
  18. After my grandfather passed away, my older brother took over his farm. During the summers, I would move in with him, and help him with the farm work. (I was probably 14 or 15 years old when this particular thing happened) The front door on that house had one of those push-button locks on the doorknob. All you had to do from the inside was turn the doorknob, and the door would unlock, and you would hear a combination pop/click sound as the lock released. I was very often the first person that would leave the house in the mornings, so I was very familiar with the sound of the lock releasing as I would leave the house. One time, my brother must have left the house, and locked the door on the way out, while I was in the barn. The key was in the house, the door was locked, so I couldn't get into the house. Having no spare key, I decided to pry open the wood chute door, and climb into the basement. It took a bit of time, but I was able to get into the house. The basement was dark, so I was already a bit freaked out, but I made my way through the basement, and up the steps, into the house. What really freaked me out however is when I reached to turn the doorknob to unlock the door. The doorknob turned right open, with no familiar click/pop. My 14/15 year old brain immediately surmised that the house was haunted, and that a ghost had unlocked the door while I was in the basement. I sprinted out of the house, and did not go back in until my brother got back. Admittedly, my experience is not as terrifying as some, but it scared me pretty good at the time. Still not sure what happened with the lock, best I can guess is that my trying to open the door from the outside must have shifted the workings of the lock around from their normal position, so that the lock didn't make it's "usual" sound when it released. Or maybe Grandpa unlocked it for me :-)
  19. Someday I will look back at this transaction with the same general apathy that I look back at the trade of Keith Ginter with. At the time, I was deeply affected. Now, I have to use Google just to remember his name.
  20. Yeah, right, dlk9s. Talk about far-fetched. I can't see anything like that ever happening ;-)
  21. The Tuffy Rhodes comparisons prove to be very astute. Didn't Tuffy Rhodes go on to a very successful career in the japanese leagues?
  22. Ironic that this tread came up this morning....I'm in the process of taping Game 1 of the NLDS to DVD, and I just watched the play that Cameron ALMOST made in the 3rd inning on the ball hit into the gap that scored the first 2 runs for the Phillies. That was a tough play, but one that Cameron is certainly capable of making. If he hangs onto that ball, that game takes on a whole different complexion, considering that would have been the 3rd out. That play aside, I really enjoyed watching Cameron patrol center field this season....especially after watching Bill Hall learn on the job in 2007, and the likes of Brady Clark prior to Hall. I think that 10 million is a fair rate for Cameron, and have no problem with the Brewers picking up the option.
  23. Michael has got to be the father of Astird, right? I mean there is no other rational explanation for Jan attending a baby shower hosted by her ex-boyfriend, at the office where she used to be in charge, is there? The sperm bank story has to just be a story, because she doesn't want to tell Michael the truth? And it was very strange to not have a shot of Jan discovering the stroller. Perhaps that story will arc to the next episode...requiring another appearance by Jan.
  24. Would Gamel really be a better glove at 1B than Fielder? 25% of the posters at brewerfan.net would be a better glove at 1B than Fielder. He is not good at scooping balls out of the dirt. His short wingspan results in having to come off the base in order to catch more balls than most firstbasemen. Gamel's inability to play third should not be a hinderance to playing first. If you moved Derrek Lee, a great defensive 1B over to 3B, I expect that he would have a lot of errors...so Gamel's errors at 3B don't concern me when talking about him playing 1B.
  25. I don't want to speak for brewerfan71, but I will say that Hardy's value is high now not only because of performance, but because he is still 2 seasons away from free agency. Even if he has a better 2009 than 2008, his trade value may not be higher, because he will be one year closer to free agency, and that will reduce his trade value somewhat. And just for the record, I don't want to see Hardy traded, but as most have said, you listen to offers, and if you find one that improves the team, you pull the trigger.
