  2. Apologies if this is already somewhere else, didn't see it on the first page and I think the news just came out today. Pretty nice to see two Brewers honored like this in the same month. http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/baseball/wires/story/629027.html http://areyouwatchingthis.com/mlb/news/69431-Sabathia-named-NL-Pitcher-of-the-Month EDIT: Much better links: mlb.com - Ryan Braun mlb.com - CC Sabathia
  3. Quoted for absolute truth. Ouch!!
  4. I never mentioned a record in my post, that was one of the followup posts after mine. By my memory, we're 4-6 against Chicago. I think they should be ahead of the Cubs because we were tied with them on Sunday with a home game against the Astros followed by four against the Cubs also at home. A win versus the Astros and a split with the Cubs gives us the division lead if we had simply taken care of business in AZ a few weeks ago when our win probability was 99.997% or whatever it was. At the very least we should still be tied with them. (That doesn't necessarily mean that I think the Brewers are as good as the Cubs or are the better team.)
  5. So your kid has like a 98% in freshman biology and then for a week he totally slacks and doesn't turn in any homework and bombs a test, dropping him down to a 92%. Do you turn to your wife and say, "Junior's still got an A-, let's buy him a car!" I think you get pretty pissed about the fact that 2/3 of a year of hard work has just been squandered. Any winning that you do in baseball should purely be treated as a headstart to the remaining games, not a defense that excuses future losing. Another gogeous, award-winning post, Geno. I know I'm in the super-minority here, but I want no part of the NL wild card. Division or bust. The cheap, lame, backdoor way into the playoffs does not interest me at all ... at least not with it being the Cubs that's in front of us. We could and should be leading this division.
  6. I know back-to-back replies are discouraged, but this is two different thoughts. I want absolutely nothing to do with the backdoor, wildcard, cheapo, we're-not-as-good-as-the-cubs entrance into the playoffs. Give me the division or give me death. We're better than the northsiders, despite Yost's tinkering and general bass-ackwards stupidity (hopefully)....
  7. Derrick "smoke and mirrors, scared of every hitter, never comfortable on the mound, ol' college try, wing it and see, stumble in the dark, blind squirrel finds nuts, please don't hurt me, how'd I do that, here's a walk please take it, hope you don't figure me out NL" Turnbow was never lights out. He pulled the wool over some eyes, however.
  8. They have Theriot, DeRosa, and Cedeno. We have Rickie "Worthless" Weeks. Game over. (I wouldn't have though so either, but here we are....)
  9. A thread for this? Really? Cubs fans are the lowest form of life ever, if a small super mega tiny sub-section of Brewer nation/ county/ village takes it too far, is it really a big deal? I love ya Kenny, but come'on. Holy jebus.
  10. My prayers are with you and your family, Luke. I can't even imagine....
  11. I hope they get the kinks worked out and it's a success. I'll start using it. I'd love to see Google taken down a peg or two.
  12. A Notre Damer on the Cubs' 25-man? Yet another reason to hate that team! (Yeah yeah, I know we have Counsell....)
  13. Definitely out of line. Fake the humility if you have to, but have enough respect for the game and the other players to put your head down and act like you've done it before. To me, it's embarassing behavior. It's despicable by Aram, Zambrano, or whoemever else, and it's equally awful when one of our guys does it. Having no class is having no class.
  14. "It's not so much me as it's Roenick. He's good."
  15. I'd assume ~4:05, but I'm sure someone else will chime in with a precise answer.
  16. I expressed some displeasure in the Trade Rumours thread and I'm still of that same mind. Doesn't it just seem way too convenient that the perfect fit for our club just happened to be on the team we were playing against this weekend? I'm not saying DM didn't look elsewhere (...he did, right?). I liked Ennder's summary ... wrong guy. I feel like it's 2002 and I'm trying to get excited about Eric Young all over again. And unless it's a hard platoon, it's just more for Yost to juggle and get right. Is Durham better than Dillon? Yes, but I still have a hard time picturing him contributing to a win we wouldn't have gotten without him. And he'll cost us some dough. And we traded away two guys in our system that could have been used in a better trade. And pitching is a bigger concern than spelling Weeks two out of every seven games with a slightly better option than Counsell. I've bashed Weeks a lot and am pretty much comepletely fed up with his carp, but this does nothing for me. Couldn't be less excited.
  17. The eyes/nose of Steve Lavin, the hair/ears of Scott Cohen, and the mouth/jaw/chin of Russell Branyan. Stottell Lavhenyan
  18. I'm pretty sure this will be almost my exact review when/if I finally see this movie 3 or 4 years from now. (I'll probably harp a little more on the sure-to-be cheesey dialogue.) I was starting to get a little worried that a Hollywood action/superhero movie could really be some kind of amazing masterwork .... thanks to twobrewers and Katuluu for restoring my faith in my own intuition.
  19. I'm usually a fan of being active, even making a trade "just to make a trade", but this is the most underwhelming addition since underwhelm came to Underwhelmsville. Would have rather stood pat than make this totally "blah" move ... keep the parts in case there's a better trade available. We now get Durham for the second half of 2008 when his numbers plummet to get him back to career norms. I do not think this improves us. It's just a giveaway of farm talent. Did not want an old, has-been player who's been inexplicably playing over his head in the OBP column for 80-some games. (And this from someone who pretty much hates Weeks!) Adding contributors to the starting rotation and/or bullpen should be much higher priorities. Do not like.
