  1. I'm sick of being embarassed by my home team!!! Right now there's a crowded mass of cockier-than-hell Cubs fans shouting like idiots on Clark street because they spotted us 5 runs and they still took care of business. Our little team from our little city got bent over and humiliated. Score some freakin runs! Put a good team away! Step up to a real challenge!! We were given a gift in the first and absolutely squandered it. If it wasn't for Ben tomorrow, we'd be talking instant sweep right now. Even with Sheets, I expect to now lose all three. I just hope that somewhere there's a Brewers fan punching a Cubs fan in the face right now.
  2. 0 runs in 8 innings. Humiliating. Embarassing. Typical.
  3. 0 runs in the 8 innings, mostly against the Chicago bullpen. The Brewers can go to hell.
  4. Jesus, make it through an inning without a freakin walk, Turnbow. Ward coming in to pinch hit with a runner on ... great.
  5. Wow, way to squander a nice headstart today, Brewers. I guess I should have expected it. It's never good when you can take one inning off the board and be left with a shutout.
  6. Why don't a I own a WISE jersey yet?
  7. After scoring 5 in the first and looking dominant, if the Cubs come back to win today I predict a series sweep. A loss today following what happened in the first and the outing Yo had would be pretty crushing.
  8. If they flipped #6 for #12 + #21 and netted Law/Thornton + Almond/Tucker, I'd be excited.
  9. Heh, the estimated value of my music review website is $1,438. Where do I cash in??
  10. The question is, for the Walkoff Wednesday promotion, can you even buy a Damian Miller jersey name/number shirt in the Brewers store there? I know you can't buy a Miller #13 jersey through MLB.com since Damian is not a member of the players' union.
  11. FINAL. Cubs win. /me is getting scared.
  12. What about Bush's performances as a reliever last year makes him the right candidate to come out of the pen here?
  13. Adding to the knowledge base.... I went to Wrigley last night for the first time with a friend who was also going for the first time. Those who talk about simply parking in the surrounding neighborhoods have my attention because every single neighborhood we drove through west of the field was "Permit Only" on both sides of the streets. (With hardly any open spots anyways.) We ended up finding free parking a block south of Addison on Paulina St (two blocks west of Ashland). There's a school there on the east side of the street with about 20 or so angled parking spots in front. Over half the spots were open 15 minutes before game time. Only signage there said that there was no parking during the school day and that you had to back your car in (it's reverse-angle parking). The walk is one mile and straight down Addison. There were other people walking further. Map of Route In the future, I would probably just go directly to this spot and park immediately rather than trying to find anything closer. (Either that, or pay to park. We considered this yesterday, but a lot of the "parking lot" options seemed shady.)
  14. FWIW... MAY IP ERA WHIP vsOPS K/9 K/BB G/F Turnbow 10.1 7.84 1.55 xxxx 6.97 xxxx xxxx Villanueva 22.1 2.42 1.03 xxxx 6.85 xxxx xxxx JUNE IP ERA WHIP vsOPS K/9 K/BB G/F Turnbow 11.0 2.45 1.00 xxxx 9.82 xxxx xxxx Villanueva 15.1 2.35 1.11 xxxx 8.80 xxxx xxxx For me, this might be a case where stats don't tell the whole story. I'm just sick of Turnbow and his constantly tense, panicked look. (And jesus, stop walking people!!) Give me Villy and his calm, cool demeaner. Or, better yet, go out and get someone better than both, DM.
  15. KAZ MATSUI CAN SUCK IT.
  16. *nod* ... brett made it sound like you could justify Counsell even with a healthy JJ. To which I say, no way.
  17. Hardy's gotta be hurt. There's no other way Counsell gets the start over Hardy against a LHP. ...Right??
  18. Now where's the "Future Star" t-shirt?
  19. Man, this guy is set for life. He'll be 55 and she'll still have the body of a 20-year-old. I really don't understand the parents' position that she's a smart, athletic, special kid but now she's "thrown it all away" by marrying this guy. Not that I'd be in favor of the arrangement if I were in their shoes, but it's like they're assuming she's now going to get instantly pregos, drop out of school, and enter into some sordid life of crime that this track coach subscribes to.
  20. First, it's nice to see the drunk thread on page 1, saves me time; second, why can't I get no Tang 'round here?; third, Houlie almost became my hero tonight, but a tip of the cap nonetheless depite losing out to balding, camera-toting guy; fourth, crap, I had more but I forgot.....
  21. This sucks, but it looks like I'll be missing the last two games of the season. July 5th I have a dinner for my grandparents' 50th anniversary and July 12th I'll be on vacation in Michigan. I'm praying for rain so we have one more game after the 12th. Doesn't seem right to not be there for the final game of the year -- I think last year too I missed our final game due to some shenanigans.
  22. Cubs Lose! EDIT: Cards tie up KC in the bottom of the 9th and still have runners at the corners with 2 outs. Figures, considering I just inserted Dotel into one of my fantasy team's closer spots for the first time tonight.
