  1. KC scored ... Cards down 2 in teh 6th.
  2. For the Marquette vs. Medical College of Wisconsin game that took place at the beginning of this month, they did not require a mush ball. Brewerfanmatt can attest to this, as he played in it. And this was even a game day with cars and tailgators everywhere.
  3. Notice I didn't say which pitcher I was talking about.... Lowry: 5.2 IP, 9 H, 3 SO, 3 BB, 5 ER ...what do I win?
  4. No love for... Chris Saenz 04/24/04, vs. StL (W) 6.0 IP, 2 H, 7 SO, 3 BB, 0 ER ...? Prediction for tonight: 5.1 IP, 7 H, 4 SO, 3 BB, 5 ER (2 ER at hands of RP)
  5. Honorary mention to Young. The penalty for self-defense is the same as the penalty for instigating a fight and throwing the first punch?
  6. STOP STRANDING RUNNERS. God I hate this team. 7 LOB in 3 innings ... nice work, guys.
  7. Damn, you mentioned "Rage who?" and I thought you were seriously talking about the real Rage band, not making a reference to the RatM thread. As for Rocklahoma, even without the real Rage, I'd be there in a heartbeat. Time to break down some of the bands!: White Lion - You can't argue with songs like Little Fighter, Wait, When the Children Cry, Going Home Tonight, Don't Say It's Over, Tell Me, Farewell to you, etc. Slaughter - Extrememly underrated band. Dismissed for being too pretty. Wrote and released a suprising number of great songs for their limited career -- some made radio, some didn't (but should've). Poison - Yeah, yeah, they were marketed in an abundance of glam. They also wrote songs like Something to Believe In and Fallen Angel. Today's modern rock bands couldn't write songs that significant if someone else was doing it for them -- not to mention today's rock bands would ruin it with crappy singing and the guitar playing ability of an empty Pabst can. Dokken - George Lynch. 'Nuff said. Winger - Lumped in with glam bands despite being near virtuosos at some of their positions. Reb Beach? Rod Morgenstein? Amazing musicians. And Kip's vocals were certainly something to write home about. Winger wrote some fantastic songs like Madelaine, Who's the One, Miles Away, Rainbow in the Rose, and Under One Condition -- and knew how to have a little fun (while crafting great melodic rock/metal) as seen on Seventeen. Skid Row - There's maybe been 10 or 15 vocalists in the history of metal that are better than Sebas. (And 90% of that list would be unknown to members of this board.) I'm guessing Bach isn't part of this band anymore, but I would have faith in them carrying on the tradition somewhat decently. Personally, I'd love to see In a Darkened Room, Quicksand Jesus, I Remember You, and Wasted Time played live right in front of me. Four of the best songs ever written. Warrant - Jani Lane is almost right up there with Warren Zevon when it comes to telling a story through music. Piece that together with finely composed melodic rock/metal as Warrant did, and you have one of the best bands to get radio play in the late 80s / early 90s. Sometimes She Cries, Bitter Pill, Heaven, Down Boys, Blind Faith, I Saw Red, Mr. Rainmaker -- fantastic stuff. Enuff Znuff - Who wouldn't like this band? They're like what the Beatles would be like if the Beatles didn't suck. Awesome, harmonized, mid-tempo pop rock with a great vibe to it. Faster Pussycat - They wrote House of Pain. They are gods. WASP - Three words: The. Crimson. Idol. Great White - Save Your Love, Face the Day, Afterglow, Once Bitten Twice Shy -- I'm better for having known Great White. I know it's been fashionable for 15 years to laugh at any 80s / early 90s band due to their look and clothes, but the point still stand that ever since 1992, radio rock bands simply don't produce music anymore with great singing, great guitar playing, and melodies that show any sign of effort. The "glam" or "hair" era was great, and since then, mainstream music has been lazy, drab, and diasppointing.
  8. I'm just glad we're not leaving an abundance of runners on base anymore.
  9. Iluvlamp is right (all three times). Yost's abysmal bullpen management is his biggest fault.
  10. Sounds like the Growing Pains finale. I guess I see the point that people are making with some of these suggestions, but do any of them really compare to the screen just going completely black in the middle of a ho-hum scene? As a finale? I've never watched the Sopranos, but I've seen the final 30 seconds by now. That kind of "ending" seems pretty inexcusable. It'd be like reading a 400 page book and having the final page end in the middle of a pedestrian sentence.
  11. To me, that's like saying, "My son's not in jail yet. I won't start worrying about all the warning signs and bad behavior until he is." When something good is going terribly (god-awfully) downhill, I can't be comforted by knowing luck is the only thing avoiding dire, deserved consequence. Still need to vent: Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! EDIT: Because I do. Shouldn't I? Baseball is a great game of numbers, interesting rules, countless years of history and stats -- a thinking man's game. It's also a sport. It's about civic pride. It's about pride amongst your distant friends, family, and colleagues. (I sometimes feel like this is a nearly foreign aspect of the game to Brewers fans since we've had nothing to be proud of in over two decades.) As sophomoric as it sounds -- baseball has to be partly about bragging rights. It's about having a squad out there that represents you and your city and where you grew up. It's about your little small-market town competing with the big boys -- putting that small-market town on the proverbial map, being respected, and being legitimate. So yeah, I care about outside opinion and public perception when the local team I love most plays like a laughing stock for five or six straight weeks and then compounds things by getting no hit by a guy with 1 career complete game, bringing even more national attention to our floundering ways.
  12. You mean the last six weeks? Nothing says "punchline" like a team that gets off to a fraud of a hot start, gets people's attention, and then plays .333 ball for a month and a half. I couldn't quite hear sports nation's laughter from here until about 60 minutes ago.
  13. If you're not absolutely EMBARASSED by seeing our boys go out there and come up 100% empty, accomplishing a very rare feet of complete sucktititude, seeing the Tigers celebrate on the field like it's the playoffs, allowing a spectacle that warrants family members out on the field, knowing tons of national coverage will be pointing out the Brewers crapulence, and (especially) dreading the barage of emails and phone calls you're going to have to deflect from friends and fellow baseball fans around the country .... then you and I simply watch baseball with our hearts in different places.
  14. Verlander doesn't get a no hitter every time he goes out there ... I'm sure his "stuff" has been just as "insane" or "amazing" on plenty of other outings. We screwed up and sucked it up bigtime tonight, in absolutely embarassing fashion.
  15. I'm so freakin pissed ... I wanna use every banned swear that hasn't been thought of yet. HELL DAMN FART CRAP .... give me a friggin break, you can't get one freakin hit .... thanks for embarassing me tonight Brewers ......... It's awsome being the joke of the league again. Suck it, Brewers. And thanks again.

  18. GET. A. HIT. STOP. STRIKING. OUT. GOD!!!!
  19. There's only one Glass Hammer!! The best band to come out of Seattle in the "grunge" era was Candlebox ... they achieved more on their debut album than the rest did in their entire careers. I'll go with Soundgarden, just 'cos Smashing Pumpkins is so incredibly wimpy/girly/wussie. Gish is still a great album though.
  20. Not to me -- that would be a big upgrade. In my opinion, Paris basically looks like some kind of alien. "If my dog had a face like that, I'd shave its butt and teach it to walk backwards." I've always described her as, "sexy, but not hot". I'm sortof a Nicky Hilton fan, though, especially when she's in brunette mode. I'm kindof enjoying Paris' tribulations, but I'd rather just not hear about her (or any other celeb, for that matter) at all.
  21. Villy's a starter by trade, but he can't pitch the 12th after pitching well in the 10th and 11th?? Yost has to get creative and bring in Vargas!?!?! The Yost haters are looking more and more correct by the day.
  22. Far From the Madding Crowd -- Thomas Hardy -- 1874 .... Nothing I've ever read has compared to this fantastic combination of plot, characters, and descriptive writing.
  23. Definitely seems cocky ... like it won't be too long before he turns into one of those guys I'd dislike if he were on another team. Hope it doesn't rub off on our more humble young guys. He probably won't be one of my favorite Brewers, but I obviously hope he helps us win a ton of games.
  24. Why didn't anyone remind me that this game was in HD!?!?!?!
