  1. Questionable move pulling Gross out of a career game knowing full well that the result will be Mench vs a RHP.
  2. Tuesday night is best for me next week. Let's do it!
  3. I was just reminded that NCAA basketball is moving back the 3 point line for 2008 -- something that pisses me off monumentally. Hate, hate, hate the decision. I feel so helpless watching a darn good sport ruined by an unnecessary change.
  4. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Ughh, that's really disappointing to hear. I'm currently not using HDMI, but component video. I've been expecting HDMI (cable coming soon) to be an improvement. Hopefully my experience is different. As a temporary quick hookup for VCR or camcorder, etc. My plasma doesn't have any easy-access side or front inputs ... when I saw that the DVR box had a composite A/V auxiliary hookup on the front, I thought I had just gained myself a front input.
  5. Welcome, Couga. Gotta ask ... 23 = Weeks or 23 = MJ?
  6. Anyone interested in a team gathering some night to watch the Brewers someplace like Long Wong's? They're on the west coast next week, which might be too late for some, but I'd be up for it. Talk Brewers, talk softball, compare TGJ's defensive wizardy to Ajay's and Houlie's ability to track down everything that comes their way, compare Hardy's power stroke with my ability to ground out to the pitcher and "run it out" with the best of them..... Just a thought.
  7. I'm mad at myself for looking at the standings a little bit ago and being momentarily content with 25-15. We're 1 and 5 on the roadtrip that was supposed to validate us, we've lost games we should have won, and we started tanking just as the nation had caught up with us enough to now start laughing at us again, and here I was complacent for an instant. Must be hanging around this site too much. Stop the bleeding tomorrow, please!!
  8. The one thing that bothers me about OBP is that the probability of drawing a walk seems to be very dependent on the hitter's situation, whereas basehits seem to be mostly independent of situation. True, a batter might mentally prepare themselves differently if they are approaching the plate in different situations ... or a pitcher might "bear down" differently if there are runners aboard or something ... but that's practically impossible to measure. On the other hand, it's somewhat predictable to figue that a pitcher might, say, be more prone to walk a #8 hitter in the NL than any other hitter in the lineup. Thus, I can't really put much weight into, say, Counsell's 2007 OBP. There should be some way to weight the fact that he bats #8 so frequently. He's a walk waiting to happen at two times a game. And actually, I almost think along the same situation-dependent lines about Rickie so far this year. It's nice that he's getting the walks, but it's almost like he's only walking with the bases empty. With runners on, it doesn't feel like he's producing OBP number at the same clip. (Would need to see numbers.) If my perception is right -- could easily be wrong -- it seems like there's a flaw in a stat (OBP) that has certain situations (bases empty) that are more batter friendly than compared to AVG which has the same degree of likelihood/difficulty no matter what the basepaths situation is. Then again, batting average won't take into account how good the on deck hitter is, etc, etc. Obviously, there's no perfect stat -- numbers can't tell the whole story. I think everyone understands that, but sometimes I think OPS (and especially the OBP component) gets too much esteem. EDIT: I managed to kill my signature. *cries*
  9. blue text = sarcasm. EDIT: mothership beat me to it.
  10. This is the ultimate embarassment for a team that had a chance to prove themselves against some tough teams on the road. If Hamels no hits us, we become the butt of jokes for at least a little while again. I hate this.
  11. Anyone have this DVR box from TWC? Anyone able to get the front Aux inputs to work? I did a little investigating online and it looks like this input was originally not activated but an OS patch/release back in 2006 turned that input on. Looking at the remote and box, I can't see anything obvious for switching over to the front input.
  12. I can't take any more of this Hall in CF, Counsell/Graff at 3B crap. Gwynn in RF??? They're making the least logical sense possible out of their available personnel.
  13. Perfect post, KegStand. It's like Ned thinks the team is invicible and he can just push any silly button and pull any crazy lever he wants and we'll find a way to win. Sick of move after move that just makes no sense at all. Especially giving up outs on CSes.
  14. Just a meaningless post to say, I love JJ. Couple nice places from Graffy there, too.
  15. Inconsistent zone from the home plate ump so far tonight.
  16. Heck of a play, Hall. Good thing the Mets are a team you can give extra outs to, no problem.
  17. Yosted again on the basepaths. Honestly.
  18. Put this into maps.yahoo.com: kinnickinnic ave at california st, milwaukee, wi
  19. Awesome play by Weeks there. Glad to see he's proving most of my skepticism towards his defense wrong.
  20. Crap, you're right. (About the wrong thread part, not about the extreme part.)
  21. (moving from wrong thread) YOSTED AGAIN .... thanks for taking a run off the board on a stupid stealing call, Yost. Jesus Christ.
  22. YOSTED AGAIN .... thanks for taking a run off the board on a stupid stealing call, Yost. Jesus Christ.
  23. Six errors on the year for Wes. Is he even an everyday player? I believe Braun would even be doing better than that.
  24. And now E5 on a grounder. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Helms, Helms, Helms.... Oh, and for the record, I'm enjoying this game much more knowing that Bonds is not in the field or in the lineup. Bonds' presence makes basbeall less enjoyable for me ... I don't think that's silly.
