  1. (Hate to turn the vent thread into a discussion thread, but....) If you're gonna play Hall out of position so that you can play Counsell out of position, only to bat Counsell 8th, then why not put Hall at 3B and let TGJ play some great D in CF and bat in Counsell's 8th spot? Offense should stay about the same, but defense should be instantly improved dramatically. I wouldn't mind seeing this experiment run for five straight games. Just think how much tighter our all-around defense would be. I'd be okay with Gross in center, but that's really going for the offensive gusto and maybe not making the defense much better considering Gross' speed ... right now I'd just like to see some expert centerfield played.
  2. Hall sucks at CF, it was a terrible idea, he looks lost and confused and stupid and embarassing. A joke. A laughing stock. Burglefickle. The Brewers were "beyond" letting a pitcher like De La Rosa struggle and learn on the job, but we're all good with Hall looking like freakin' Scotty Smalls the first time he puts on a glove and takes the field in The Sandlot. Hmm, "Hall" almost rhymes with "Smalls". Coincidence? "YOU'RE KILLING ME HALL!!!"
  3. Or even a no-hit/slick-fielding TGJ manning CF while Hall mashes at 3B. Improve on defense, stand pat on offense. Just crazy enough to work.
  4. We have to be the least tight defensive team in the league. It's like pee wee ball.
  5. I'd much rather have a three run lead to chip into than a four run lead. From a player's perspective, I think there's some psychological component of the game that worsens with every run you have to make up.
  6. (Unless there was someone else warming up along side Aquino while Shouse was out there....) In order for a pitcher to have been ready when Aquino started struggling, Ned would have needed to make a call to the bullpen when Aquino threw his first couple of pitches to his first hitter. I don't know any manager that would have done that. Can't yank Aquino unless there's relief ready.
  7. Yeah, y'all can scream for Cappy2 all you want, the problem is -- on the whole -- he's no better than Aquino.
  8. Maybe if we could do more with bases loaded and one out than just ground into an almost double play.....
  9. Ugh. The kings of wasted opportunities, back at it again.
  10. Boy, almost a disastrous at bat for Weeks. Thank god for butter fingers. Come on JJ, time for some two out magic.
  11. Let's go Rickie, base hit ... nice and easy.
  12. Who comes in for the bottom of the sixth? Who's been warming up?
  13. An offer than included a legit outfield all-star and a pitcher on the level Bush was when we got him from Toronto and I'd be thinking long and hard about it.
  14. Yay for WMLW. First full game I get to see from home.
  15. Nice little practice today. Our two first basemen were there, so we drilled a lot on throws over to first (and fielding grounders, too). Also had some outfield flyball and cutoff man practice. Pretty productive for only four people. It was a gorgeous day out there, too bad a few more couldn't make it.
  16. Well, I'm driving down there. Come on down if you wanna play catch or hit around or something.
  17. Geez, 4 whole people respond -- pretty pathetic for a team that has 18 guys. I'll check again in 10 minutes ... are we on even if there's only 4 of us?
  18. Back-to-back days with a high near 50 for this weekend, considering today was a nice dry day, is there any chance we could get in a practice late Sunday afternoon and have a semi-dry field to play on? Otherwise, how about Monday or Tuesday of next week after work? The precipitation is forecasted to stay away with sunny, decent weather in its place to hopefully dry things up.
  19. I'll be in Detroit taking in two games of White Sox - Tigers action with friends.
  20. Nuh-uh. We're ruling in the LOB category.
  21. No one else upset that Shouse has been left in to face two right-handers and a switch hitter after doing his job againt the lefty he faced to open the inning?
