  1. Wow, what a game. Can't remember one that was quite like this in a long time. Can we now please get above .500 against the Cubs?
  2. I don't know if I like the sacrifice. Miller's standing on second? I guess I would like him 90 feet closer. I see him getting thrown out at the plate on a base hit, otherwise.
  3. Actually, I think we're already even with them at this exact moment. We'd go a half game in either direction after the outcome of this game. Right?
  4. I really don't think you can blame Gonzalez for the el cheapo short pop-fly ground rule double (that Rickie should've caught?) followed by a SAC BUNT that scored a runner from second. That's not Gonzalez's fault at all.
  5. Are you kidding? THAT'S LIKE TWICE IN TWO WEEKS WE'VE ALLOWED THAT. Freakin little league, our defense.
  6. Did someone just score from second on bunt or was he on third?
  7. Man ... I was supposed to be catching up on sleep tonight.
  8. 2-2 with two doubles. Thata boy, 'Rillo!
  9. Hmm, I work on Hwy 100 and Grange, 2 minutes from that field. Keep me in mind for the future?
  10. To be clear, I think giving Razzorsharp some starts at SS is win-win. If he plays improved defense, the team has been helped. In our ealry practices, both of our names were mentioned for SS ... if he would have been able to attend more practices, he easily could have started the season there. Honestly, SS is a very tiring position to play. You expect every ball to come at you, and it feels like you're involved in 50% of the plays. There are definitely some reasons for me to look forward to 3B. I'd just like to make a request to get some innings somewhere in the middle infield before the end of the season, if possible.
  11. It's cool. If I wanted to play SS, I guess I should have played better. I'll just have to think back to that fun sliding catch I had in shallow right a couple weeks ago and live off of that for the rest of the season. Not many opportunities for fun plays like that at 3B ... especially with fouls being outs, lol. BTW, I would also be up for playing some 2B this year. I'm gonna miss running out to receive cutoff throws, being in on double plays, and using my range to track balls in the shallow outfield. Besides, shouldn't someone with wider shoulders be manning 3B? I'm not sure my 138 pound frame is exactly prototypical. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif On a critical note, I am somewhat curious why we're taking serious measures to improve the defense at this time (changing left side infield, sorting out right field, installing a permanent 1B), while at the same time contenting ourselves with the daisy-chain batting order on offense. It sends mixed signals. "Let's be as good as we can on defense, but merely equitable on offense." Maybe there's a rationale there. Use good defense to keep things close ... go with "equal at bats" to keep everyone equally involved and not hurting anyone's feelings? I don't know. It just seems wrong that we'd point out defensive shortcomings and make changes based on that ... while at the same time, if Ajay makes the last out in a game, Houlie will be batting 14th in the next game. It pokes holes in the "for the good of the team" argument when talking about defensive adjustments.
  12. Only three of us are in? I vote that means no practice today.
  13. In addition to pitching practice, many of us have used Fever's magic bat all season long. Taking some cuts with the other bats would probably be a good idea too.
  14. Anyone interested? It would be in the late-morning, I imagine. 10:00, 11:00? Or later? 1:00? It might be especially good for some of our potential pitchers to get some practice. HC Park?
  15. Thought this could use its own thread. Anyone on this team ever pitched in a softball league before? Who feels the most comfortable? Anyone been practicing? Who are our leading candidates? Al? Robin? Jamie? Jimbo? I'd add myself to the list, but I'm thinking I'm more valuable to the team at SS/3B than I am at P?? I hope I'm wrong, but I'm worried about pitching going forward....
  16. Definitely not a fielding clinic by the left side of the infield tonight. Semi-disastrous first couple innings for me at short, good idea by Jamie to shake things up and switch me and razzzor for the rest of the game. Razzzor definitely made some plays out there ... my concentration might've been shot for the rest of the game had I stayed at short. BTW, I would be open to playing third in the future if that's what's best. The rest of our team defense was pretty spectacular. Also, thanks to Ajay for picking me up on the bench. Your prediction of me getting a "big hit" to win the game wasn't exactly true, but I did cross the plate three times, and we won by three, so I suppose you weren't far off! Great hitting by the guys behind me. I never made it further than 1B in any of my at bats, but I came around to score every time. Can't ask for more than that.
  17. Yost is a god today. C'mon, one more out to get...
  18. So someone reassure me that Guillen is a much better left-handed hitter than he is right-handed. Otherwise, why take out our best groundball pitcher when we need a DP?
  19. Here's a lineup ordered by season OPS. Just something to consider. Doesn't look half-bad, creates a nice mix: valpocrewsader Houlie24x AJAY Robin19 bball123h nullbyte DougJones43 razzzorsharp Jimbo Brewer Fever Iron Chef Napalm AJOHNSON104 radman12484 Brian the Automator Out for game: Jamie, colbyjack
  20. I'll be at The Keg tomorrow for the rubber match. Going early to tailgate, so no practice for me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  21. Like, in place of that NASCAR-looking "2" maybe? That might look sharp.
  22. OBP ranks? Hmm, looking at the stats, it looks more like: 1. bball .750 2. Jimbo .625 3. Robin .625 4. razzzorsharp .556 5. valpocrewsader .556 6. Ajay .500 7. Houlie .500 8. nullbyte .500 9. Fever .444 10. DougJones .444 What am I missing? EDIT: Ah, I just noticed that names in your SLG list are omitted from your OBP list.
  23. I'm making a request that more people send Jimbo (or post it here) their age/high school/college info for the Roster page. I'm curious!
