  1. That picture is weird/funny on a lot of levels. In addition to Jamie's jive walking, the dude in blue looks like he's running backwards while I look like some random jogger who's just cutting through. lol.
  2. Some random thoughts: It was good to get someone else in there to pitch at the end, but I hope to have razzzorsharp next to me at 3B whenever possible. He deserves a lot of credit for playing outstanding 3B this year ... seems to get better every game, too. After Fever's no longer able to pitch for us, I'd like to see Jamie, Robin, or Al step in as pitcher. Just my 2 cents. Really, the pitching situation following Fever's departure could use its own separate thread. Late in the game, I got frustrated that we weren't (and haven't been all year) sticking to our cut-off plan from practice. From what I remember, our goal was... - OFs assume all throws go to the cut-off - the pitcher (and only the pitcher) shouts out the base the cut-off man should throw to *as the cut-off man is receiving the throw* - however, if the pitcher shouts out the base as the OF is catching the ball or picking it up, the OF skips the cut-off and throws to the base ...that said, a lot of plans that sound nice on paper end up being not very practical in application. Is this one of them? Just thought I'd mention it. It seemed like there were a lot of balls this game that were sloppily thrown into the infield and bounced around rather than going glove-to-glove. I thought it made us look confused. As far as the outfield charging balls, I agree that that outfield surface is terrible. So I don't think anyone expects charging in on the hard rips to the outfield. (And on those hits, charging probably isn't needed.) I think Jamie was saying that the bloopers and slow rollers out there need to be tracked down as quickly as possible, to keep runners from trying for an extra base, which can lead to rushed/errant throws. When considering rotations and positions for players, don't forget that nullbyte is a good candidate for 2B. He practiced there a lot before the season, but hasn't played there yet in a game. Anyone who was at our most recent practice (May 27th?) when we devoted a ton of time to fielding drills can vouch that he was handling 2B very, very well. Kenny mentioned that he was open to playing elsewhere. I just want to say that I think he's a perfect 1B guy, so I hope he gets at least 3 or 4 innings a game there. Zach has been doing a very good job when he's stepped in, too. (One critique, can you position yourself a step closer to the bag? On that hard grounder in the 6th or 7th, I looked up and you were a couple steps from first ... a better fielder than me might he able to just throw to a spot, but I felt I needed to hold back a little until you got set up. Not saying that that's why the runner was safe, it was probably my noodle arm, lol.) My apologies to the team for my poor body language and for not showing enough support for the team late in the game. That's not constructive at all. I lost perspective ... and felt bad/ashamed when I thought about it later.
  3. Two games at right-center? Now that I think of it, I can't remember much of any pop flies or base hits going to RC. Feels like LL is getting about 50% of the action, LC is getting about 27.5%, and RR is getting 22.5%. RR has gotten a surprising amount of work. Small sample size? Or can we expect RC to remain virutally devoid of balls all year long? I'll throw my support behind having Houlie play at least 4 innings in LL next week.
  4. "Man, that honky mus' be messin' my old lady... got to be runnin' cold upside down his head. You dig?"
  5. That is unbelievably awesome. Very well done. Can't imagine it looking any better.
  6. Call it stupid, but seeing Jackson make his debut and strikeout his first two batters really lifts my spirits. I feel good for the guy. Nice 1-2-3 inning.
  7. Hey, it's the April version of Gross!
  8. Nice of Robinson to start the inning off with a delay to leave Simpson waiting on the mound all warmed up. That's like three phantom delays in four games against the Brewers.
  9. Nothing like saying "screw you" to a fellow Brewer fan. Way to represent BF.net.
  10. I see they turned the video camera back on for the bottom of the 9th.
  11. More cheating by the Pirates. The ol' padding-off-the-rail 10-minute delay to kill the opposing pitcher's rhythm trick. And it leads to two hits. Or maybe they just needed another 10 minutes to set up the video camera in the bleachers.
  12. One please. Thank you! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. My prediction: Jorge throws a 1-hitter through 6.
  14. I think there sould be a "Team web site" sticky at the top of this thread with a link to the team web site. The thread could serve a dual purpose by giving team members a place to submit their roster info and any other corrections they may notice.
  15. Powell: And Svuem has the stop sign up, and Carlos is running through it, and Carlos is gonna score standing up.... Okay...? LOL.
  16. Sounds like we're now up to 5 players (Robin, Chef, bball, nullbyte, and me) for 11:00 am. Hales Corners Park, I assume? Can you guys confirm? Who else wants in?? It should be a fun day with great weather!!!!11111oneoneone
  17. Haha. Does that mean the official name for our practice field is Candlestick Park? Do we have enough guys for a practice? I think we're at three "for sures" right now (Robin, Iron Chef, Me). Jamie might be in? Brian too? Could we get a couple more? We probably need at least four people. Six, seven, or eight would be better.... HC park works for me, what about everyone else? The weather should be perfect for playing baseball tomorrow, 75 and sunny. Oh yeah, who has the practice balls?
  18. I tentatively have to be in Tosa at 2:00 tomorrow, so an early time like 11:00 or 11:30 would work best for me, too. Anyone else?
  19. I know this weekend is Memorial Day, but I'd be up for a practice. I was out of town last weekend when a few of you got together ... would like to get some play in before next thursday. And the weather is supposed to be spectacular this weekend!!
  20. Activity on the radar seems to be weakening a bit. Maybe we'll get 'er in, afterall. If anyone sees an anouncement here that the game has been cancelled, would you mind calling my cell (414.555.5555) to let me know? Otherwise I'm going straight to the field from a family engagement. If I don't answer, please leave a message. And then please post something here to say I've been notified so others don't have to call me. Gracias. EDIT: Obfuscating phone number ... too many hot coeds stumbling across this thread and calling me up.
  21. Well yeah, but the storms haven't gotten here yet! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Things look like they're going to get interesting right before gametime. Who knows!?! Frankly, I'd be surprised if we played a game tonight. Lots of little patches of rain popping up and a decent size band of trouble slowly making its way in. Then again, things really petered out yesterday as that storm got closer and closer to lake michigan.
  22. I have a feeling we might not know for sure about tonight until 6:00 or 7:00. Weather's fine right now, but there's a bunch of green and yellow creeping up. It might be 50/50 on whether it dances around Sijan field or pummels it with half an inch of rain. Lightening could also be an issue tonight. I won't be near a computer from 5:30 until gametime tonight (again). If the game is not cancelled by 5:30, I will leave my cell phone number here in the thread and hope that someone can call if it's cancelled.
