    Cubs better hope that last year was the start of a trend and not a fluke. Dempster has been a pretty solid pitcher overall for the Cubs since the acquired him-- I am pretty sure they are not concerned about what happened in 2001. Dempster made over 7 mil this year (2008) -- this seems like a pretty reasonable 4 year deal to me. It has its risks, but I think if over 4 years Dempster is league average, they will have done well.

    I don't understand how Ryan finished 3rd but I guess I won't complain. Braun probably would not have been 3rd on my ballot. off the top of my head -- 1. Pujols 2. Berkman 3. Ludwick 4. Utley. 5. Braun I think Braun did better than he should have.

    I agree with Toby that the L&O's have run their course. I think Survivor has had to have run its course by now.

    My kids love it -- and it definitely gives our family something to do when we have no plans, and it is crappy outside. The games for Wii are much more "little kid friendly" than the other formats. You guys will have a blast. I vote yes.

    I really liked Ryan's character the last few years, especially when he was in corporate. I think Ryan's character though helped define Michael's character as well. That said, I think Ryan has run its course.

    Yeah -- I agree with player A. Almost seems like Adam Dunn -- I'd bet dollars for doughnuts that who it is. I take Adam Dunn over anyone that isn't Pujols.

    If the Padred pulled a $4MM offer to Hoffman off the table, I can't see them offering him arbitration where he's certainly not going to get less than that. Exactly -- It would be like us offering Gagne Arby's.

    It might not work, but a bed peeing cat is better than an anything dog in my book. I disagree Cats are like Cubs fans, it is hard to get them to urinate where they are supposed to when they are upset.

    It seems to me that judging a team based on payroll is more of a measure for a front office than the field manager. A team's payroll could easily be tied into crappy overpaid players, that a field manager needs to get some sort of production out of.

    They can't theoretically cut his salary (and more likely, he'd get a raise if they offered arbitration, given the current market for closers). Yeah -- there is no reason for Hoffmann to accept a substantial paycut, unless he gave a discount to a team himself. He is still very effective, and I don't think will regress all that much.
