  1. Joe is right. That copyright is to stop other venues from using that game or games to gain money from using it without permission. Just like copying a movie for resale. Radio station giving an update is not gaining any monetary value.
  2. I read some where a couple years ago that ESPN can only use a certain amount of footage from each game. It was a certain amount of secs I believe. This is one reason you see them lead in with a lot of old footage to preview the upcoming stories. They dont get dinged for old footage just that days events when it comes to what they can use. The rights to broadcast are what the Brewer stations have, I dont think a station could get in trouble for updating scores on their network. Even if they describe how it happened, they could just not do play by play off a TV. There are some pretty funky laws out their when it comes to FCC, as a broadcast major I took a communications law class.
  3. So if the Brewers dont sign Cameron what would the Brewers have done? 1. Keep Hall in CF and Braun at 3B. Poor defense at two spots wich was costly last year. Hall's bat was suppose to be better with him in the infield and we see what has happened to him with the move back in. Who would have played LF? 2. Put Gwynn Jr in CF, even though he has not shown the ability to hit at the majors. So this team would have Kendall and Gwynn as defensive players plus a pitcher in the lineup. Sounds like a real potent offense. Melvin went out and tried to make a difference in this team, so far it has not worked out the best. However this option is still better than what the Brewers had coming into the offseason.
  4. Took a look at the boxscore and was funny to see Stavisky and Corey Smith in the lineup. Smith still has not figured it out, and the Indians are still looking for a 3B. Stavisky was a solid propsect coming out of the draft but has yet to do enougth. Scouting report on Inman says he is more likely to be a reliever, so still not sold Brewers gave up too much.
  5. Hall seems like the logical first choice to fill in at 2B if with his struggles this year at the plate. Not sure how he will react to playing another new spot with the glove, however he would be getting playing time. Dillion would then be at 3B with Branyan. Dillion might get some playing time at 2B against righties though with Hall's struggles. Think of Dillion as Jeff Kent-lite.
  6. Kapler cost the Brewers some runs tonight with his lack of range in the OF. Cameron catches both balls and Mota doesn't get lit up. Kapler is a backup OFer and with the off day before there was no reason for him to be in the game. Thank you once again Ned for having a sense of what is going on.
  7. The age comparison is a joke. Kapler is 32 and Cameron is 35, that is only years. Camerons body is use to a full season as he had a longer playing career, while Kapler was out of baseball and has not had a lot of full seasons in the majors. Kapler is good in short spurts but not sure his body can take the day to day grind of the bigs.
  8. Kapler is a great 4th OFer for this team, he can fill in at any spot and doesn't hurt the lineup. Cameron has more range and a better bat than Kapler so I dont know why he would take more than the typical rest day from Cameron.
  9. End there is a big difference between Bush and Vill when it comes to Suppan and it is called experience. Vill showed nothing as a starter so far and hampered the bullpen by not going deep into games on a regular basis. Bush seems to be turning it around at this point he is less dependable than Suppan. Keeping Sheets is suppose to be cheaper than signing a free agent ace, and I agree with that. So if you have to go look for another #3 starter on the market dont you think it will be more than what we pay Suppan? Yo is the #2 if Sheets stays, if Suppan goes there is ?s on the rest of the staff and contenders dont have that many questionable starters.
  10. Kendall can handle himself for the long haul, he has done it for a number of years. Like noted his stick is not the reason he is here. Rivera has done just what I thought he would. He is a nice backup that will not kill the team like Bad Chad on past Brewer teams.
  11. How many times does it have to be said Suppan is doing the job he was paid to do. Eat innings and keep the team in the game.
  12. I think Nathan signed an extension so I dont see him leaving Minn at this point. Blanton is most likely to move but the As have to fall totally out of the race for him to be moved.
  13. 1. How can anyone say Hall has been jerked around? He has been given a chance to play as an every day player. His breakout year at SS was due to JJ being hurt and him playing each day. Remeber he did not win the SS job coming out of spring that here and became the jack of all trades guy. He was moved to CF to keep his bat in the lineup, then this year to improve the defense and keep all the good bats in the lineup. Maybe Hall should have stayed as a super sub than he would not feel jerked around with less at bats and no where near the contract he has. 2. Hall struggling at the plate last year supposedly had to do with a move to CF and I heard a little of that this year. I say hog wash. There is a guy that moved to the OF and he seems to keep on raking this year. Braun may not be doing what he did last year but that was going to happen after that great rookie year. Hall had one great season season as a fill in and now for some reason fans think he is owed a favor or two. Hall lacks good jump on balls at the middle spots and makes some great plays because he is athletic. On the flip side his bad reads give up singles that other players would make into outs. 3B is perfect for him as it lets his ahtletic ability to make plays and use his plus arm. Hall IMO is over rated around here and I will take Hardy at SS.
  14. I would love to see some prove that Gwynn had gained interest from teams last year. It was posted in this area that he could be moved for help, but I dont recall from any source that there was serious talks of moving him.
  15. Given time I could see either would being a solid CFer. The both are athletic enough, have strong arms, and enough speed to play CF in the future. I dont think they would be gold glove material but would also not be a minus to the team. JB12 is right that a lot of speed merchants have played LF, but if you look at all his examples the have weak arms and thus the reason for the move.
  16. Suppan could bring value at the trade deadline. Team in the race would like a dependable starter that can be counted on to keep his team in the game each time he goes out on the hill. His salary is right in line with a lot of the talent that came out that year in free agency.
  17. I hate to repeat myself but until he proves he can get AAA hitters out he has no business pitching in Milwaukee. We have sent guys out there that have proven they can not get out big league hitters and Weaver has proven he can get guys out in the past. All I am saying is that he is an option that this team has too look at.
  18. As we found out last year though, you need more than one guy who can do that. If the SPs can keep going 6/7 innings there will be less stress on the pen, last year that did not happen. I think Mota still can do that job, Riske when healthy, and still have Shouse for lefties. I think Torres should stay the man till he proves otherwise. Gagne could help still if he gets healthy and proves himself.
  19. I really like Villy has the 7-8 inning guy on this team right now. He seems like a good guy to bridge the gap to the closer.
  20. He hits keeps hitting homeruns I dont care what he sticks in his ear.
  21. Prince busting out would take some pressure off this pitching staff as they could get some early leads and not have to pitch from behind so much. Parra so far looks like he might be taking a turn for the better.
  22. Cal Ripken did not make a lot of diving plays either. I watch the game with my eyes and Hardy makes all the plays a SS should make, that is what you need at SS. There is no need for a guy that screws up a couple of simple plays and makes one highlight play. Hardy is in no way considered below average when it comes to defense.
  23. And give up the defense of Hardy for all would not be worth it, at his best Hall is an average SS. Hardy is an above average SS. Hall was horrible at getting a jump on balls when he played short and I dont know how that can change after two seasons of not playing in that spot.
  24. Cameron is doing his job since he got on the field. Finally he hits one out at home, as he was doing more on the road. He has been all that the Brewers wanted when they signed him this offseason.
  25. Weaver is a veteran arm who they are hoping can turn into another Suppan to eat innings and keep the team in the game till the 6/7 inning. C-Vill needs to get better if he is going to be a starter. Right now he is in a good spot for himself in the pen, someone posted maybe he could close and that would not shock me down the road. Not sure his stuff is good enough to get threw the lineup two /three times a game.
