  1. Sure lets keep penny pinching the franchise so no one wants to come to Milwaukee and play. This is a great deal so that neither side as to worry about any offseason talks for many years and no hard feelings. Braun has what it takes to be a top player in this league and the right attitude, not much of a gamble in my mind. Next time Braun has to talk contract it should start out smooth since both sides have shown they can work things out. Prince would be nice to lock up next but he has to be his own man and not a Boras puppet. I still think he will come to his senses and sign some type of deal wit the Crew. Hart has to be on the horizon to getting the next contract out of the young guys.
  2. Weaver will be pitching next week in Milwaukee. Staff needs a shot in the arm and they might as well give Weaver the next chance. He will be more like Suppan if he is up to snuff, nothing special just eating innings and keep the team into the game and saving bullpen arms.
  3. Hardy is never going to be known for his stick. He should hit around 260-270 range each year with 15 -20 HRs. Hardy makes it on his solid defense. Solid range, cannon arm and playing in the right spots is what his game is. Escobar is maybe a better defense of player, but with his weak stick he is not going to be a better player. Escobar is a trade bait to get a player near a deadline ala Mr Inman last year. Billy Hall's free swinging ways are going to put up power numbers and kill many chances for runs with three big swings of breeze.
  4. Yost stated the reason the Hart was playing right when Cameron was out was so that they did not have him moving around. Team wanted guys to be comfortable in there spots and also in the hitting order while Mike was out on suspension.
  5. Depends on wich ability you are talking about. The one that finds his way yearly to the DL and hurt the team by not eating up the innings he is paid for or the one that could be an all star year in and year out.
  6. Melvin & Co.'s decision to backload Suppan's contract was brilliant foresight Brewers had to get a proven arm that could eat up innings. Take a look at what other free agent SPs got that off-season and we got him at market value. Suppan has given this team what it needed, if Brittle Ben had been eating up innings before that off season maybe the Brewers could have passed. No way should Brittle Ben be signed to a big long term deal. He is a injury risk and doesn't matter how freaky they have been, those injuries have hurt the Brewers each time he went down. Brewers can not afford a guy that has not shown he can stay healthy all year.
  7. I would not take any of the 3 back for Gwynn, but a young SP from the minors would be enough IMO.
  8. I agree the that the Brewers dont have what it takes to get Stewart. Not sure the Rockies will move him since Atkins did not except the contract they offered him this off season. Rockies are more likely to move Atkins this off season before they have to start paying him.
  9. RyDogg two years ago on this site posters had it all over that Hall was an all star and was better than Jeter and a boat load of other guys. You dont have to believe what I said about the coach, I know what I heard and believe it.
  10. The Bill Hall fan bus has come back again because he has a coupe of walk off homers. This pretty much all he has done this season with the bat. He is batting around 200 all season. He is getting paid to produce a little more, IF he keeps up the homer pace he can get away with a low average but I dont see it happening. Hall has been very solid at 3B which is his spot for defense. One of my best friend's boss went to the fantasy camp for the Brewers this year and he asked one of the returning coaches what was with Hall. Coach replied he is one of the dumbest players he has seen. Hall has issues lining up correctly in the OF and also SS when on defense. He also has not taken to coaching when it comes to his approach in the box. Hall is an average player and not the all star that his fan club posted here two years ago.
  11. Bill Hall was a great athlete when drafted and he has turned that into an average major league player. There is nothing with this at all. My issue was two years ago when people posted he was going to be an all star and was better than Jeter and so many other players in the game. Bill Hall always has and will be a big hacker at the plate. He will take a lot of 1-4 nights during the season. But what people will recall about Bill Hall is that he was on ESPN for hitting a late game homerun or jacking one with a pin bat. If Hall would become for consistent there would be less issues with him. For all the talk of being and Ofer or his ankle hurting him last year I dont by it. What will be the cause for him hitting 220 this year while he plays??
  12. Has to be some kind of deal in the works, I cant see Melvin putting this team short handed for more than a day. Gwynn could be coming back and ready to play this week. Team plays 8 straight games and I dont think they would want to go without some bench players for pinch hitting.
  13. I share the same birthday with one my most hated Brewers. I will always claim that Jenks stole money from the Brewers for his lack of playing ball during the bulk of the season, only to turn it on when the team was out of it and there was no pressure.
  14. Hope this is not a long term deal, but with the recent past of Brittle Ben he could be headed to the DL. Hopefully Yo is ready to come back and start putting in some long outings so the pen is not used before June.
  15. He may have not been a star but he was a quality setup man and team gave up IMO nothing to get him. He was used incorrectly as he should have been the 8th inning guy instead of the seventh.
  16. Brittle Ben has made it through week 2 of the season, lets hope we can say he is still healthy come the end of Sept. If that happens the Brewers should be playing in the playoffs.
  17. Why so we can have a possible number 5 starter and and two more arms that can be in the bullpen down the road maybe. When will folks ever realize the team was team was trying to win last year and needed an arm in the pen.
  18. I dont see this ,as a Yost concern and more a concern that some of the starters can not go deep into games start after start. Parra and Villy have no real track record in the majors and Bush seems to be a 5 inning pitccher. These things could once again produce an over worked program.
  19. This team is mostly going to be built by draft picks for years to come, this what happens with teams not in the large markets. Melvin and Jack Z do the draft together. Now that the team is contending people are starting to nit pick. What has Doug done wrong since he was here. He has allowed the great young talent grow at its pace and put a fine team together by filling in pieces. Overbay?? We got more than enough for him. 2 years ago it was a steal of a trade becaue some here felt Zack Jack was going to be a starter sooner than later and hold down a spot for years to come. Doug got some arms to help out on all levels of the team.
  20. What extra pitching do the Brewers have to send to Det. Cappy is gone, Yo will not be solid till a month in. Parra and Brittle Ben could be down by the first of May. Right now there is not a lot of extra arms IMO. McClung would get a low end prospect maybe, but only deal him if he isn't making the team.
  21. It is so nice to see the Crew have a problem of having too many options on the mound. IMO it is better for Villy to stay in the minors and make sure he is ready and stretched out to be a starter. Then if someone is hurt or not preforming the bring him up into the rotation and move some other guys around so he can be a starter. Would like to know when Villy became the next great thing. Yes he has some nice stats last year, but he has not done it over the long haul. So easily he could be a whipping boy on this site by mid-seasonif he doesnt live up to all the accolades being given to him already.
  22. This is the biggest reason we didn't trade any of the pitchers for a couple of prospects. Vargas could rescue this team this year but most of the offseason, posters could not wait to get him out the door.
  23. Pass on Patterson. He has proven on thing and that is he can not stay healthy. We already have Brittle Ben to fill the teams need as an often injured pitcher no need to have a backup at that spot.
  24. Laird is their starting catcher as of right now. Salty is struggling behine the plate and pitchers are not happy. Rangers would be crazy to hand the starting job over to a guy like Salty at this point.
  25. Rottino is back at his level and the talk of him being a bench player can stop for now.
