  1. There's a good chance JJ gets more in 2011 because he's arb eligible than he would make on the open market. He could actually end up coming out ahead from being sent down.
  2. Gomez has basically the same career OBP against both lefites and righties, but has more pop against lefties. Is a platoon with Gerut possible?
  3. Was in the bleachers yesterday and it was a really fun experience. There were a lot of Brewer fans in my area and you have to remember every fan base has its idiots.
  4. If the $$ is equal, you're not going to find many young people in any profession that would chose to live in GB, Cle, Cin, or Det when they could go to the other NFL cities. It's not so much the economy of the NFL as it is a reality that there are a lot more desirable places to live than the cities you listed.
  5. I think either DeRosa or Grudz is on the team by this time next month. As others have said, Counsell is too old to keep this up every day, and McGehee isn't somebody you want to rely on in the midst of a pennant race. What would it take to get DeRosa? Also, I'm probably getting way ahead of myself, but is there a way to get Cliff Lee and DeRosa as a package deal?
  6. I think he needs to be locked up. He's going to keep you in games, and there isn't much coming through the system to suggest his presence on the roster is going to block a prospect.
  7. What was your opinion on Nieves? What kind of stuff does he have?
  8. Settles at midpoint of $3.25M.
  9. I second the Rays. They added a very good DH in Burrell and the acquisition of Joyce is very underrated.
  10. That is a really good idea for a team like Washington. They might be able to get the 3 of those guys for about $20M total, so they could maybe toss Orlando Cabrera in there too. You lose 3 picks this year, but then get 7-8 the next season.
  11. I can't believe a guy that consistently puts up those #'s would be that cheap.
  12. I would be very content if they brought back Sheets (now with Hoffman) and called it a day. Me too. Give Ben 1 yr $12M, with a vesting option for a 2nd year if he gets 180 innings.
  13. If the Phillies offered arby, Burrell may have taken it. This is a bad move on their part, but I was hoping he would have ended up in Chicago since his age could make this a bad contract.
  14. The Yanks compensation pick is protected.
  15. Getting rid of Hall might free up enough $$ to get in on a closer.
  16. Anybody that votes Prince Fielder above Albert Pujols after the years they just had should lose their vote.
  17. SI's Jon Heyman reports the Dodgers declined Penny's option today.
  18. Would Milton Bradley be a possibility? His bat could play at 1B and Prince could be moved for pitching.
  19. I don't see Nolan Ryan being interested in Sheets. He was on ESPN during a game this season and he was saying that he wanted guys who could go deeper into games and that as an organization they were going to focus on that. I think he would be turned off by Ben's injury history.
  20. Bartolo Colon was another rental who got traded about a month later.
  21. Now that the Crew has made the playoffs, am I correct to assume this should be finalized in the next few days or will they wait until the playoffs are over?
  22. You'd think with the Cubs and Sox both in the race, one of the games would have been on WGN.
  23. No, the Cubs game will be on CSN in Chicago.
  24. The Phils/Mets series is important, but since one of them can catch the Brewers without knocking the Brewers out of the playoffs, it's not a huge deal. If the Brewers split, they will either gain a game on whoever is in 2nd if the other series is a sweep, or nothing will happen. Even if the Crew gets swept, the only way they lose ground would be if that series is split (though the Cards will have made up quite a bit of ground). The best case scenario would be a Brewers sweep and a sweep in the other series. But if the Brewers split, they will have pretty much the same leads, while 2 games closer to the finish.
  25. I have the Nats +245, (for pennies, not an addiction) hold on guys!
