  1. Watched The Informant last week and enjoyed it. Best part is Matt Damon's character's running internal monologue.
  2. I can't verify it offhand, but I think you are right. I wonder who gave him that idea. You're right, I quoted the first one in the Cain thread: LINK
  3. Good grief, are there enough 1 sentence paragraphs in that article? You know it's ok to connect two thoughts on the same subject..
  4. Hopefully if Melvin's learned at least one lesson by now, it's that he should stop blowing money on the bullpen and give the kids a chance.
  5. Interesting article overall, but here's the juicy part:
  6. From Tom's blog: Hart is well aware of the rumors as he prepares for All-Star Home Run Derby tonight at Angel Stadium. But the resurgent rightfielder remains adamant that he wants to stay with the Brewers. In fact, before agreeing to any deal with another club, Hart would like the Brewers to make an offer for a contract extension. He can be a free agent after 2011 and is making $4.8 million after beating the club in arbitration last winter. "I do want to stay," said Hart. "I've told Doug (Melvin) and Gord (Ash) that. I hope before they trade me they give me something to think about, something to say yes or no to. That hasn't happened yet." Though Hart sounds eager, the Brewers never have had much luck agreeing with agent Jeff Berry about his worth. That's how the sides ended up in arbitration last winter.
  7. 4 visually challenged mice
  8. So why was Eloise so adamant in telling Desmond not to attempt to get everyone together? I don't see any reason she needed to care at that point. After thinking about it overnight, I could have done without the whole flash sideways portion of this season. It was interesting until the reveal because you were under the impression that it was an alternate timeline from the universe diverging from the point they blew up the bomb or something, and it wasn't clear how the two realities would resolve; after the fact, however, I wish they hadn't wasted so much time on a plot that wasn't really revelant to everything else from the past 5 seasons. Plus, the whole premise of this purgative state is pretty weak. So they apparently go through their entire lives over again? No one remembers anything from before they died until they connect with someone they love? It doesn't make any sense.
  9. Yes, they got off the island in the plane, and Desmond was orchestrating the meetups with their love connections (at least for most of them) so that they figured out they were dead.
  10. In the "alternate reality" at least. For a minute when Christian started talking I thought it really was going to be some "island is purgatory" thing (which the creators have repeatedly denied), which would have been really stupid. But in a way I'm glad there was no alternate reality, just them having to "find" each other once they died. I'm not sure if I like that direction or not, but at least the island was real and what they did mattered. edit: regarding no Walt or Michael, I wonder if it was because they weren't on the island as long and so weren't really part of the core group (and Michael had the whole "betrayed everyone so I have to make up for it so I can leave" storyline..)?
  11. One, I hope it's not an injury because there's been no indication so far that he has any sort of physical problem. Two, if that were true, fighting an injury for a month+ is incredibly stupid and we must have idiots for managerial/medicine staff.
  12. I'd figured they would kill Jack off on the series finale (best silent countdown ever), but since they're scripting a movie, clearly that won't happen.
  13. That's a good point. The first short season was pretty weak, but it's really blossomed this year, much like the Office did.
  14. See, that's the type of thing that really annoys me. There's no way in heck that happens in any sort of alternate reality remotely resembling this one. Still quite a few good moments thought, and having been through it 3 months ago, the scenes in the hospital were spot on.
  15. Good point about Jacob not being involved in their lives. I'd forgotten about Locke marrying Helen, that was another thing that stuck out to me.
  16. I'm a little confused by Jack having a son in the alternate timeline. I suppose the timeline split at the time the bomb exploded (in the 70's), not when the airplane didn't crash. But you'd think that practically speaking there shouldn't be any differences (at least in their lives) up to the point with the plane crashed.
  17. I find it funny and a little disturbing that TH is clueless enough to say "For those of you who don't have "Insider" status on ESPN.com, here is a transcript of the complete story." Uh, Tom, that's kinda the whole point of Insider.
  18. Thinking back, I think Neyer did say 2016-2026 or something, so maybe that's true. I think the big key though is not years of eligibility but the threat of dropping off. 4 years off would get him around the years where there'll be a ton of other people to vote for and perhaps he would drop below 5%.
  19. Actually Neyer had the same wild idea that Outlander did, that this would delay his candidacy til after 2013-14 when the boatload of candidates hits. And then by 2025 or whatever no one would care about steroids anymore..
  20. Pulling this back up just to note that this week's episode of 30 Rock was one of the funniest half hours of television I've seen in a long time. Tina Fey is brilliant.
  21. Let's not get any further into legalization or addiction discussion than we already are. This is about Jeffress and his career.
  22. He, Mindy (Kelly), and the guy who plays Toby are all writers.
  23. Link Gord says he has a tentative 1 year deal in place to bring back Claudio Vargas..
