  1. Answered my own question, he was the Braves bullpen coach for eight years.
  2. According to Castro they do. Which is another reason why I don't think Ned is doing anything out of the ordinary. He's been around the game long enough to know the impact of dry runs. He also has one of the most experienced bullpen coachs in the game to help him with that. I could be wrong, but wasn't Yost a bullpen coach for a while in Atlanta? If so I would think that just solidifies your point.
  3. He has a clan??? I just mean him, his dad and/or anyone who happens to be with him. Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=68&t=30532
  4. No they reserve that honor for people who ask for help while their 10 year old son is alone in the park (sorry, the bitterness still lingers) Only if HY was a greasy kid who looked like he lived in the trash can behind a Chinese restaurant. Not only is he (and his clan) rude, obnoxious and annoying he's got this constant runny nose thing going on. Seriously, he looks like he could be contagious. Sometimes I feel like just handing him a bottle of hand sanitizer Happy Youngster was (is?) a jerk, but at least his personal hygiene wasn't offensive.
  5. Your playoff eligible list are the 25 active players on your roster on August 31st, your 15 day dl, your 60 day dl and anyone on the bereavement list. Before each round of the playoffs the team builds a 25 man roster from this pool. For each person on the 60 day dl, you get to add one replacement player from your 40 man roster to your playoff eligible list, however that player must play the same position as the injured player. Simple right?.
  6. I just came across a blue Ben Ogilvie Looking to sell. $30, shipping included by paypal only (it's just easier for me that way) I will not have time to meet up anytime soon, but like I said I'm willing to pay the shipping.
  7. Plesac would be great. The guy was stud in the late 80's - a 3 time all star closer. The "Sac-Man" was around for, what, 18 years - seven with the Brewers? And you could argue that his best years were in Milwaukee. I'm all for a SacBoble!
  8. My son has an extra Hammonds - no box - that he picked up recently for trades. In box me if your interested.
  9. I just got off the phone with the my Brewers ticket rep and he confirmed that the Brewers will have only 3 full size bobbles next year. Hardy A regular version and an alternate. The alternate will have him in button down shirt and jeans with a pull string on the back. Pull it and he says "you can warm up with me anytime". Tickets will be sold exclusively at area middle schools as some sort of fund raiser for "the big dance". Suppan The regular one shows him in his Brewers uniform with cash busting out of his back pockets. The retro will have him in a Cardinals uniform wearing a World Series ring. Yost There will be no "regular" Yost, only a retro and people will say, "Oh yeah... I remember when he used to manage the Brewers. Also, because they felt that the secondary market was a little soft lately, every Friday night will be "Jefferey Hammonds mini bobble night". Only 546,000 will be made so make sure to buy 10 tickets for each Friday game and then leave before the first pitch so you can be the first to get yours on ebay. Don't forget to be sure to put a ridiculous buy it now price on it. Seriously though, I love the Cirillo idea, especially the #26 on the retros. Besides 3 or 4 current players how about a Mark A bobble, or a Jim Powell - he's the only announcer yet without one. And please, please NO MORE 1982 anything! No mini retro bobbles, no retro uniforms, no ball and glove logo, no DVD's... We all love it, but we're loving it to death. Lets find a different treasured memory to beat to death. Team Streak anyone?
  10. That "line" behind Fridays is another example of the ushers not doing their job. If you haven't been back there let me describe it to you. Imagine a line of people waiting to get in to the stadium next to Fridays, people who are all waiting legitimately. Now imagine that shortly before the gates open about 200+ more people just form a mob around and next to the line. Now imagine, as it gets closer to 5:30, people start pushing and "finessing" their way closer to the front of this mob of people (that in NO way resembles a line at all). Now imagine an usher that says nothing to these soon to be skippers. He pretends that everyone will enter the park in an orderly fashion but when 5:30 rolls around people all start running. The people at the front of the mob simply move metal barricades out of their way, because after all rules are for suckers. And Brain, I know exactly what kid your talking about. I know it's not right to hate kids, but this greasy, dirty, little snot is a prime example of whats wrong with "autograph fridays". He and those that come with them are terrible. If we're talking about the same kid I'm pretty sure his dad (or who ever that guys is) has been "blacklisted" so to speak by a few players. I heard Matt Wise just go off on him (the dad) one day. I missed Fridays game, so I can't speak for how well or poorly handled the autograph sessions were handled, but I can tell you how please I was with Tuesdays event. I fully expected the worse, but came away with 8 signatures in about 30 minutes. Almost everything seemed to run smoothly, I even saw an usher pulling people out of line who "skipped". What an idea.
  11. I know some of you have traded with Mattsr0625, he's a fairly regularly poster here in the trading post. He's away right now and called me to ask if I'd post this for him... He has two tickets to tomorrows Brewers game that he can't use. Section 235, Row 9. I just checked the Brewers website and this game is sold out, standing room only. $25 for the pair. If your interested please inbox mattsr0625 and not me.
  12. As someone who has done a fair bit of interviewing and hiring let me just say that that would be a very bad idea. It sounds like they have your (several dozen?) applications on file. At this point anything more than an inquiry phone call about the status of your application might be inappropriate. And because it sounds like your sending so many applications to the same pool of prospective employers I offer this word of advice: Don't burn bridges. If you don't get the answer your looking for, stay calm and don't fly off the handle. At my old company, every application was put into a computer database. When a candidate was rejected their application and name stayed on file under one of several headings, one of which was "DO NOT HIRE". Their name was highlighted in red and every time they submitted another application they were immediately filtered out. We also shared applications with our sister companies. A "DNH" list is not a place you want to find yourself in. Acting in a manner that would include sending emails and threatening messages would certainly land you in a bad spot. That said, I feel your pain and wish you luck in finding a job. I recently walked away from my management position at a company I used to enjoy working for in an industry I used to enjoy. I decided to leave, live on vacation pay for a couple of months and look for a new career in a new field. I turned 30 this year and wanted to find something I might actually enjoy doing for the next 20-30 years. So far, no go. I'm being very picky and I'm starting to get frustrated also. Your not alone!
  13. Was anyone else here season-seat-holding in 1997, when the Brewers were apparently "in it" enough to warrant the printing of playoff strips? The Brewers sent us a strip after the season ended. I still have it somewhere. My too. I keep them in my "broken promises" collection along with my 1992 playoff tickets, my 1988 playoff tickets and my 1983 playoff tickets. For a guy who's never seen a postseason game in person I seem to have a lot of tickets....
  14. I'm going to buy as many tickets as the Brewers will allow me to. The last time the Brewers were in the playoffs I was 6. Can't let the chance go by. Now the Brewers need to hold up their end.
  15. No mention of umpire contact in the official Press Release from Major League Baseball. "Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers has been suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate and aggressive conduct during the top of the eighth inning of his Club's game against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park on Sunday, Aug. 12."
  16. That is the exact point I was trying to make in the "confrontation" thread. Even Bill Schorders initial comments reflected this opinion. Anyone who saw this unfold on TV could see that Prince was going to get ejected, that he was the aggressor - before the ump did anything. There might not be an explicit rule on the books that states that the batter can't argue balls and strikes (even though every tv & radio personality that covers the game seems to think so), but for Prince to act surprised when he got tossed (go back and watch, he can't believe it) and then go into a rage where he needs to be held back by three people...come on. I respect everyones opinion on this matter, really I do, but I don't know how someone can blame the Ump for this. And Yost? Maybe (I'll concede a maybe here because it's a matter of opinion) the umpire was out of line for following Price but he "earned" his ejection well before the ump took one step in his direction.
  17. Watch Albert Pujols. I have witnessed his BP and he hit them as far as Sosa did during the HR derby in Milwaukee. Yes, completely out of the park (through the open panels). I agree, he puts on a show. Prince can get into a few as well. Last homestand he hit one out in RF that completely left the park, on the fly, through one of the panels. Amazing! Manny Parra absolutely killed the ball during early pitchers batting practice Tuesday. Vargas can take some cuts as well.
  18. The last few Sundays the Brewers have hit second. That gave everyone an hour of Brewers BP.
  19. Brain, good job on the Glavine! Thats pretty cool.
  20. I guess this fall under the "tips" portion of this thread... I noticed that the Brewers website now carries the following disclaimer : "Due to anticipated high demand, autographs cannot be guaranteed for all fans". I know it's common sense, but after all the complaining lately it would seem that if nothing else, they recognize the problems that have been occurring.
  21. It's usually set by 2pm, sometimes earlier.
  22. For current (and sometimes former players) you can simply send a letter to the players team. The team will in turn redirect the letter appropriately. Ryan Braun C/O Milwaukee Brewers 1 Brewers Way Milwaukee, WI 53214-3691 This is the most appropriate way to deal with current players for a few reasons. It shows respect for their privacy not to mention the letters can often times reach the players a bit quicker. Players often times have mail waiting for them when they return home from a road trip.
  23. Absolutely, I'd love to take a look at it. Good luck tomorrow!
  24. I hope you aren't saying that I cut in front of people, I actually mistyped that, I got there at 330, if you don't believe me you can ask 20fry, he was right in front of me, I don't know what the point of your post was, pretty low to accuse people of cutting when you know no facts or haven't even seen who I am. Unlike the majority in that line who pushed, mashed and skipped to the front. Brain (BHF) was undoubtedly one of the few people who actually "deserved" to get him. He got there early, stood in the lines and respected the general rules of proper conduct.
  25. People who get in line at 5:30 and butt ahead of people who have been waiting since 3:30 are the ones who will ruin autograph Fridays for everyone. Ushers who do nothing to stop those people from butting into line don't help matters much either.
